If you Google "Bucks Free Press sport" then the top result claims it covers "The latest Wasps, Wanderers, rugby, football & sports news from High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Marlow, Princes Risborough, Amersham & Buckinghamshire."
Would have thought someone would have thought to edit this in the 8 years since Wasps infested Bucks
If you look at The Maidenhead Advertiser you will see that they give great coverage to local sports with weekly roundups. Obviously, they rely on information being fed to them but local sports clubs know that it is worthwhile doing so.
(un)Realistic signing. Ipswich splashing £500k on Panutche Camara from Plymouth. That's our league. And I will confidently say that Ipswich will not go up this year.
I think they'll win it. Defensively imperious since McKenna took over, just needed to improve attacking output and they've done that so far this season.
I really can't see us bringing anyone in to the first team squad today. I'm a little surprised that none of the 'fringe' players have gone out on loan. Anyone know whether they can still be loaned out to National League clubs after today?
More realistically, I think we will see who fails to make the cut once the first team squads are finalised and see if there are any that fit the criteria to be a Wycombe player (assuming that there are spaces).
I also think not signing anyone is probably a good indication that the injuries to Vokes and Hanlan are more likely to be measured in weeks rather than months.
On the subject of the squad, when does that have to be finalised? And presumably Nick Freeman wasn't listed last year?
just making a point that other clubs seem to be active whereas we are probably playing hardball and likely to fail both in signings and league campaign
My point was that if we aren't in the market for a 'new' centre forward/target man I would assume it is because GA expects that Vokes and/or Hanlan is likely to be fit relatively soon. I think if both were expected to be out until December finding a replacement would have been high on the 'to do' list.
So: no new forward - my guess Vokes or Hanlan will be back in the squad by October
Shiny new forward - my guess Vokes and Hanlan out until at least February.
Didn't think the negative language would stay away for long. I only wondered why you wrote that Plymouth signing a striker would benefit us. You now seem to think it won't. Very Liz Truss.
I have it on good authority the club management are at Thorpe Park today and have forgotten all about transfer deadline day and your desire for 1st team players. Dobbo loves the log flume ride.
would not be surprised if true, just so Gareth can be situbborn and.make a point , this season so Important to Gareth as if he fails he can kiss goodbye to bigger jobs in the future
I think our strategy as changed over the last 12 months due to the undoubted success of the development squad. I feel that both Gareth and Rob have backed the investment in the young player category to support the sustainability model.
Although that development talent model will hopefully bring success in the long run, it does mean maybe sacrificing success in League 1 this and maybe next season.
Maybe I am totally wrong and I do hope so but that is the feeling I get.
You have no idea if our strikers are out for weeks or months but the people who are in charge obviously do.
They also have an idea of what people actually are asking for and what is achievable under existing budgets and salary protocols. Ainsworth isn't necessarily stubborn, lazy, unaware of the squads needs or tight with what he's given or achievable signings, he just doesn't feel the need to give you advanced notice of his business.
so why did Rob say we are going for autos? it does not make sense , if the above was the strategy then fair enough, I will watch wycombe whatever the strategy but Robs strategy was just to fool fans in buying season tickets

I would imagine if you did not want paying for it...most local papers would print whatever you submitted!
Jesus this is so off topic!

strongly disagree , think they will walk the league, they have invested well
You're the one bringing religion into it!
Sam Cosgove signed by Plymouth , shrewd signing , could been good for us
They still have to be willing to devote the space and I know from experience that is not going to happen.

(Yes I know I could Google it myself, but....)
How do we benefit?
Neither Shrewsbury or Wimbledon fans were particularly happy with him last season.
we literally have zero idea how long vokes and Hanlan are out for but would not be surprised if its months rather than weeks
experienced cover in vokes absence , AAH looks good but raw and wheels is not a number 9 imo
They won't walk the league. However they will go up with Posh and Derby.
they did not have Gareth as their manager
But Plymouth signed him? Struggling to see how that helps us as per your original comment
I think they will win it as well.

I woke up this morning convinced Ollie Pendlebury had signed for Derby, but i guess i dreamt it.
This may be a cry for help.

Hooe that's true that they are back in October as its going to be a pinnacle month for us as got a tough list of fixtures
