I completely agree with this post, although oddly when I expressed similar sentiments a couple of months ago (I think on this thread) I received a few negative comments for saying this.
In our 29 football league seasons we've finished either top half of the fourth tier or bottom half of the third tier on 18 occasions (and been close to this in all but six seasons).
People may feel that now we're some much better side who should be competing at the top of League One / bottom of the Championship as we have been for the last three years, but I'm not sure that this is so.
There are several 'strong squads' in L1 but the key element is getting them to 'gel' as a team. I'm very confident that GA and Dobbo are amongst the best at that.
its not about shaking in his boots , I'm afraid they will simply lose new and prospective fans, sad really and I bet season ticket sales will drop next season
Shame, because if you had trained to become a journalist you might have had greater appreciation of the part that newspapers (national and local) play in the lives of many people.
You do know football managers are aware that they are responsible for running the team and winning games, don't you? Also they cannot cure injuries or ensure good luck at all times. I could be wrong but I dont think Gareth and Dobbo (love those guys) need you to remind them. Every day.
I have plenty of appreciation for newspapers (I even read them sometimes - shocking, huh?), but local news does need to adapt and go in a bit of a different direction if it's to survive. That goes for most, if not all, print media.
Yeah I think there is something happening for the same reason @floyd. We signed Lewis Wing at about 10:45 on deadline day in January - given the silence from the club I suspect we may see something similar tonight.
When I started this thread after our Play-off Final, I only thought that we'd talk about transfers (in & out), rumours and wishes for the new season.....
I never thought that we'd have chats about national & local newspapers and their role in society, if a post is reliable or not because it hasn't been featured in the BFP, endless chats over will he, won't he sign with Bishop, whining over "broken promises" from our owner and lack of ambition and having 1 member leave and having a Dr Who re-gen into someone else who's "completely different"
Only 1 hour left before this chat can be archived and completely forgotten about!
The January transfer thread (*shudder*) should consist of someone throwing in a 'realistic signing' name and the only responses allowed being Yes that IS a realistic signing or No that is NOT a realistic signing.

Can you lose new fans? You really raise the big issues don't you.
I am thinking this is really all about you and some god given right you think our club has. Get rid of that attitude and we'll all be much happier.
Oxford have signed a lazio defender lol
I take it all back. Local news must be preserved at all costs.
It'll be too late now, but I'd have fancied a cheeky loan move for Kabongo Thsimanga, who's about to join Birmingham from Chesterfield.
in GA we trust !
Out of interest, where did you do your training to become a journalist?
I didn't. I consider myself a writer rather than a journalist anyway as I don't do any reporting/investigations.
There's nothing wrong with that story either; the header image just made me laugh.

Yes agreed.

Gareth on Pre-Match Drills:
’still a few irons in the fire but let’s see if they come off’
He also said ‘there may be a surprise yet’ regarding future
Here I was half hoping that this thread might be about "realistic signings for the summer"
Chips? 🤞
Somehow only just learned this https://twitter.com/MiguelDelaney/status/1565433533425979392
First time on here today. 57 new posts so I thought things must have gone mad, but .....
I was so disappointed.
Seem to remember us not reporting deadline signings for a day or two last year.
You two… Surely you knew what to expect from on here?
Remember last seasons deadline the GA told us quite early on we weren’t going to be doing any business. So I’m still hopeful.

Transfer window closed - safe to assume that's our lot?
Roll on Tafazolli and Mawson together :-)
Oh wow. A positive comment.
