I spoke to Shrews fans before our game a couple of weeks back, and they were scathing of Cosgrove, Carthorse, and one of the worst players they've ever signed, were their comments. We certainly seemed to have dodged a bullet there.
On Pierre they said he was their best central defender before jetting off to play for Grenada, he came back a bit heavy and seemed to have lost a yard of pace, and couldn't get back in the team.
Well I didn’t expect him to say we would settle for anything else but he obviously feels we are capable of doing that with the sustainability model being the underlying strategy.
Look, this my hunch really but I may be totally off beam.
@Blue_since_1990 I get what you are saying, but what is 'success' in League 1 to you? Are you really expecting promotion? (Sorry, Rob and all of those who take him at his word.) I think staying in League One, developing some exciting young players and making a stab at promotion again will do for me.
and that's fair enough but that is NOT what Rob said , why do you think he said we are going for autos ? it's obvious and now comes across disingenuous, if he said the above I am sure people could buy into this strategy, sorry but Rob comes across as fake and a salesman to me (might be in the minority)
Transparency? What were you expecting him to say: ‘We’re hoping to avoid being relegated’ or ‘We’re planning for mid-table mediocrity’? He expressed his positive ambition to win promotion, he didn’t promise it would happen. How has he shown any disrespect?
seriously???? he could of said we are positive for the upcoming season and left It at that , based on what he said he was pulling the wool over our eyes , fair play to him as he succeeded
You just make a fool of yourself with comments like the last two and quite frankly, on this of all days, when we’ve lost a great man and supporter of the club, trying to explain things to someone who is relentlessly negative and doesn’t want to listen is a waste of my time.
That is what I believe is the model and will do for me as well. I just hope that ‘and making a stab at promotion’ bit can go hand in hand with the investment in youth policy but if it doesn’t then it won’t impact my support of our great club.
@Quartersman80 you are completely free to share your three opinions (no good signings, GA is crap, Rob is a liar) every day...but don't you sometimes bore yourself?
Time ticking by. Rumour mill very quiet which suggests we don’t have any irons in the fire. Which is fine. I think we have a decent squad with a chance of the play offs. Vokes back in a couple of weeks I’ll say play offs. Vokes out longer term the 10th.
It’s a shame to lose Kaikai AND Hanlan longer term. Could be the difference but both will be expensive so harder to replace. Seasons can be a lot about luck. And especially luck with injuries.
The actual deadline isn't everything don't forget. Gaz has waited to see who is still a free agent after the deadline before. We picked up Garath McCleary the season before last and that didn't turn out too badly.
you should know by now @eric_plant that whatever success GA and Dobbo have had in the past with signings, getting over slumps in results, pushing for a play-off spot or bringing in and bringing on cast-off players is wiped from our collective memory every May.
Just in case you haven’t realised you are arguing with a person (presumably - but could theoretically be a bot) who is making the identical statements and arguments as the relatively recently released @Wanderers82
Even with all our injury problems i can't see us signing any player even on loan,i hope i'm wrong as it's obvious we need a striker and cover in defence.
I understand where you are coming from @robin but given the plethora of attcking options we have once everyone is fit I cannot see us signing anyone up front.
I think if Wakely continues to improve, impress & stay injury free he is clearly our 4th choice CB, though I still feel we are a little short of cover at LB; having said that I am hoping JJs form drop is due to nothing more than a short pre-season & he will in short order get back to the performance levels we are used to.
Problem is GA has already stated it's the strongest squad since he's been here. Does anyone actually believe this squad can do better than last year! Not expecting anything tonite and will happily donate £20 to a charity of anyone's choosing if we do...

Your optimism is truly uplifting.

your welcome
A thread on Wycombe related dreams would be quite interesting!

who knows but some kind of transparency from Rob would of been nice and shows he respects us fans

I hear we were interested in Mani Talkz but he was after Dirty Cash.

Admiral signs for Fleetwood....good signing for them

So are you fed up because you've not understood what Couhig said?
Not sure you can talk for anyone else on that either.
Ultimately we are all Rob Couhig aren't we?

@Wendoverman, sometimes silence is very powerful

This is painful boring reading the same 3 posts by the same person daily.... cheer up or fuck off.

Preferably both.

if Vokes and/or Hanlan are out until November and Gareth has not covered this area then I am afraid he has alot to answer to
I bet he is shaking in his boots if he reads this!
