There is certainly an argument that perhaps papers and broadcasters should be employing pundits who have kicked a ball or managed a team more recently than 1985...
This target man role is key for us but not so much for other teams. I was interested in Charlton playing a classic target man and totally ignoring him with no crosses or long balls in to him.
Really enjoyed hearing the Charlton fan raging all the way down Hillbottom Road that he could buy two houses for what the player cost. I wonder if we would have had a easy win with him in our side.
On their forum they bemoan not signing a 25 goal a season striker and needing new players in. They also claim we were unimpressive and will be lucky to be mid-table
So how are Notts County regarded by Forest fans? Has there ever even been a sense of rivalry given the different levels? Or are Notts County just the little brother who can't tie his shoelaces?
While they have signed 15 players for a reported fee of £150 million (I wonder if the owner found this down the back of their sofa!) They have also have 17 transfers out (also most have been free or loans.)
If Forest survive, are they not going to get hit with a FFP issue?
As they are very rarely in direct opposition there is very little rancour @Shev and lots of Reds fans and players donated when County were in the no pot to p*** in position not long ago. Players have also.moved between teams without too much bother.
We won't bring someone in on loan if we think we've already got someone good enough in the building. We can use the loan market without harming the development of our own players.
We wish them well, and I always felt a bit sorry for the lads at school who supported County. Mind you we had one lad in our class in Nottingham in the 1970s who supported Leicester City, he must be laughing now.
I'm genuinely completely bewildered whenever someone uses this turn of phrase. Everyone's favourite pseudo-intellectual Joey Barton dropped it into a post-match press conference only last year. How does your brain go there, let alone allow your mouth to actually say it?
Latest comment from GA in the post-Spurs interview just up - “we have targets and we are working on getting them over the line, but it remains to be seen whether it happens, and they may or may not come off, we won’t pay over the odds and we won’t bring players in just for the sake of it.”
So not new news really, but at least it isn’t a “nah - we’re done in the market”.

Forest have signed about ten players in every position and they are tipped to go down by Tony Cascarino.
You can't win it seems.
Quality is always better than quantity. Notts Forest must have a "spare" or two they could loan us!
'Tipped to go down by Tony Cascarino' is surely a phrase to describe everything wrong with top flight football reporting.
One step away from being tipped by Tony from Ormskirk
Muskwe to Fleetwood rumoured via reliable source.

Assume that means their attempt to sign Cole Stockton hasn't paid off.
Quite disappointing really, as we could have benefited from him until January.
Like many posters on the Gasroom, Tony Cascarino has been close to, involved in and watching football for years and knows things.
I wouldn't pay the slightest bit of attention to anything Tony Cascarino says https://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/aug/28/tony-cascarino-football-arsenal

I reckon we’ve wagered the training ground a couple of times.
But what would Graeme Souness rage about then?!
I liked him but in Mellor and AAH I feel we have 2 players who can perform a similar role. We need a player that this kind of player can play off of.

Is every fan forum the same?
@mooneyman Aaaaaah…… you know it’s Nottingham Forest and Notts County
I've given up
I'm disappointed you can't even be bothered to give me a thumbs down!!
In the interests of harmony...done!

I remember us being in the ‘no pot’ position not so long ago.
Doesn't bringing in Muskwe or other players on loan go completely against our club model?
We want to bring players through the development squad and potentially sell them on to make the model sustainable.
What message does it send out to the young players if we bring a makeshift/temporary signing in?
Players won't come to us because "Wycombe stockpile young talent and don't give them a chance". I don't want us to be that club.

You say that - but it is definitely the reason that we haven't. Because we don't need to.
It's not as black and white as that
Cheers. It's always interesting to hear about the differing shades of local club rivalries (or non-rivalries, as the case may be).
No rivalry with County.

Indeed. He's had a nightmare is actually a phrase. He's had a Holocaust makes no sense in any way.
And more like aging grandparent who has seen better days but now struggles with the stairs than a younger brother @Shev
