Almost suspiciously excellent... where is the money coming from for the fees and wages?
Could it be that some of our players still wanted Championship salaries since we came down to League one and maybe Rob took a hard line with Wing & Horgan to say no, you are a league one player? We have also moved on Freeman, Gape and Thompson, I'm guessing the last 2 players might have been on a fair wage as when they were fit, they were likely to be starting? Remember, we might be saving a (tiny) bit of budget on the Wakely loan, they might be covering his wages while he's away?
Also, with 3 of our signings being loans, we might be paying for some of their wages but we prob won't be footing the bill for all of it. I can imagine that Breckin & Taylor might be here for free as neither Forest or Man City are too hard up for cash on the proviso that we give them minutes and experience. I know with some loan deals, the amount of wage a club can pay depends on if the player is playing or not. If they are playing when they are out of form compared to others, it might be the reason why. It might be another test of Matt's management and leadership.
If the Kone move happens, would he be the first openly gay professional footballer? I know that there are players in the professional footballing world who are gay but haven't announced it, I'm just wondering if this could be the moment where players feel safe enough to reveal this information to the wider world?
Jake Daniels of Blackpool was the first openly gay I think
Probably first player in the English league @Otter87 I think there are openly gay players in the US and Europe. Though I may just be making that up.
As far as I recall, players have come out as gay across Europe but only after they have retired.
But having researched the issue, there has been one active professional player who has come out as gay and that is Jake Daniels who played for Blackpool at the time.

(Assuming he is good at football, something I think a footballer should be before signing for us) I think it would be pretty darn cool to have an openly gay player at the club. I've always felt we are a bit AFC Richmond so this is just another step in that direction. I would like to think we have fewer (or is that less, someone will correct me) moronic apes in our fan base than certain other clubs so it would be a safe space for him as a young man to focus on his game, again the important part when signing for us as a footballer.

I think Matt Bloomfield would be quick to stamp out any nonsense. We were the first club to sign the 'Government Charter for Action' to fight homophobia in football, with Matty signing on our behalf.
Depends how far back you want to go, remember Justin Fashanu at Forest and Thomas Hitzlsperger at Villa?
Both came out later and given it was the 1980s and the antipathy Sir Brian (and most old school managers i would imagine) showed towards JF's nightclub activities no big surprise he stayed closetted. I seem to recall players were considered to be p***s if they read a broadsheet newspaper in the 90s!

I would hope as fans we will do a self-policing job too. Recently saw the Romesh Ranganathan 'bit' where he spoke about calling friends out without being aggressive or confrontational, really hit a chord with me. A simple 'maaaaaaate' the first time you hear a stupid comment will more than likely solve a lot of issues before they begin.

This downvote is intriguing...cannot work out which bit offends here. Historic homophobia...or just drawing attention to it for people who think it was 'just a bit of fun'.
We’ve fallen apart countless times when he’s been unavailable & he seemingly has large spells out of action every season, so we need a contingency plan for losing Josh to injury/illness. I’m sure Matt has one in his back pocket.
From what I saw of Luke Leahy and Jack Young last night I think I’d feel pretty confident that we could still put a decent midfield on the pitch even without Josh Scowen, even though he’s pretty much the first name on the teamsheet once fit.
For those who were there, was the Wealdstone Raider in attendance?
He was having a pint in Ruislip before the game, not sure if he made it to the game. The local Ruislip lads made up for it with their cringeworthy behaviour

Toby Jones plays the Wealdstone Raider if we go down the movie route. Or we could do a Netflix doc called American Bluey with Kevin Spacey doing the narration now that he's just walked free from court.

Or West Midlands mayor Andy Street who is the raiders doppelganger

The movie of a man made homeless because of his sexuality who joined a team a bit like Wrexham and took them to the top of the Premiership in 2027 will be a nailed-on Oscar winner (mostly because of the new Oscar rules for eligible movies)
Michael Douglas is Rob Couhig. Tom Cruise is Joe 'JJ' Jacobson. Featuring a cameo from Christian Bale as Bluey the Swan.
And the guy who played Barry Goldberg as Tjay De Barr

Show some ambition open the checkbook and buy some players!
I hope we've not overstretched on wages chasing a return to the Championship!

Hey. we've bought some players!
Hang on....Where did they get the money?
I hope they are not overstretching us chasing a return to the Championship/new investment!
This is why we love the Gasroom.

Beat me to it @Wendoverman
@mooneyman
is not one of my shadow accounts

But they "came out" after they had retired. Several of their teammates said they had no idea.

Agree @TheAndyGrahamFanClub and if he is scoring goals most will be more worried about who will be coming in for him at Christmas!
Could be that the budget is being augmented by potential investors? It has happened before 😉

Wishful thinking but not definitely not outside the realm of possibility. Interesting idea

Exciting prospect from all sorts of angles.
Sincerely hope we sign him. Imagine a partnership with Dale Taylor. Goals galore.

Mackenzie Crook, for me
And the guy who played Barry Goldberg as Tjay De Barr
Jeff Bridges reprises his role as The Dude in The Big Lebowski playing Pete Couhig.
Terry Crews cameo as Ade Akinfenwa. Just because I can't think of any other incredibly stacked actors built like Ade.
The question is who plays Alan Swann?
Timothy Spall
He’s free and cheap
