I hope the lad who ran on the pitch and took a selfie with JJ after the goal doesn’t get a ban, he was marched off arm in arm by two stewards, I felt somewhat officiously. And it was pretty funny.
I saw someone being escorted out from a distance and thought what a nob, but then when I went past noticed he was about 12 years old, so much more along the harmless side of things.

It was all fairly harmless and innocent but the club have to ban them don’t they? It can’t be ok to run on the pitch for any reason.
Plus the Wycombe players are always more than generous with their time off the pitch to enable fans to get a picture. The guy could have found another moment if the picture was that important.

Yep, agree with you on all of that.
This kid was probably harmless, but the next invader might not be.
The ban doesn't have to be years, but it should be enough to put anyone else off.

Everyone went on the pitch in 92 93, chesterfield. Should we be banned?

How does timekeeping work these days? Aside from the 30 seconds for each substitution and each goal (which appears to be observed about as much as the laws governing throw ins and kicking the ball away), does the ref have to instruct the 4th official when they consider a delay in starting the game to warrant additional time being added or does the 4th official make that decision?
I checked and don't believe 30 seconds is automatically added for a goal - only where there is excessive time spent celebrating. So actually in the case of Sunderland and our 3rd goals reckon the ref should have added 30 seconds each.
I hate technology in football. But I would like the 4th official to decide how much time should be added. Invariably I think not enough time is added. The ref's got enough to do without stopping his watch for 10 seconds here and there when a keeper is fannying around with a goal kick, or he books a player for time-wasting etc

I think both sets of fan feel that he was against their team, you claim you should have had a pen, we claim that your second was both a foul and offside. We think that Gooch was fouled in the box for an obvious penalty, you think the Embleton should have seen red, we think that your captain should have had a second yellow and should not have been on the park to score in the last minute.
Football is all about opinion and we all wear rose tinted glasses when watching our teams. But that the reason we keep coming back week after week, year after year.
All in all a good game and a good advert for League 1.
Of course there'll be contrasting opinions, though it's useful if they're based on facts.
I certainly wouldn't have said the ref was biased, generally he got things right enough, his biggest mistake was the Hanlan penalty shout being turned down. Hanlan seems to arrived from Bristol Rovers with a reputation for diving, which is counting against him when there's clear contact like in this instance. If it was another player in that position he might well have given the penalty.
I can't comment on the penalty you feel was obvious, as the editors of the highlight package felt it was so obvious it didn't need to be included. The only fouling for our second was Voakes having his shirt practically ripped off and another one of your lot pushing Hanlan (who was onside by virtue of your own defender having made the last touch) into your keeper. JJ's yellow was debatable from my view of it as it looked like he got the ball after being knocked off balance by a physical challenge, though would like a second view of it. With no replay I can't comment on what other incident he was meant to have been booked for, though it was so contentious whoever edited the extended highlights didn't include it. You can add to that a clear foul on Forino for the first if you really want to feel like the ref had secretly hid from the Football League that he had been born overlooking Loakes Park.
I wouldn't have complained if Sunderland came out on top, though we put in a fantastic shift and played some of our best football this season and fully deserved a point.
@Ed_ said: @Safc_in_peace - In consideration of the overwhelming majority in your parts for the removal of the European shadow over UK affairs, how does the French ownership of the local football club sit with your lot?
As an out and out remainer and rejoinder, I have no issues with it. While being owned by a murdering human rights denying country is a totally different matter.
I would hazard an educated guess that the French human rights record is at least if not more murky as the US of A. Not that this was the point, the people of Buckinghamshire did not vote 4:1 in favour of fewer Nike trainers, so the heritage of the majority stakeholder at Adams Park never really registered on the irony scale, I had hoped to gain an insight into whether the average Mackem had stirred by the irony unfolding on their doorstep, mum’s the word on that one apparently though.

Quite. Of those who could be arsed to express a preference just over half voted for it. Probably just as many southern racists / immigration botherers and tax dodgers as northern racists and many coming at it from different angles and equally affected by its outcomes.
It would be nice to think that yesterday’s game might have changed a few Mackem minds. Both sides, and the game of football, emerged with a huge amount of credit. Contrasting styles, both teams battling 100% for everything, huge amount of quality on show. Better than League One level.

I could certainly watch that every week.
It hasn't, unbelievably they still think we're a shit team full of shithouses that time waste, and they were by far the better team and they should've beaten us by 4 or 5 goals.
Very frustrating, I guess when something sticks it sticks. We didn't time waste at all on Saturday which was absolutely fantastic to see. Just as I'd hoped for before the game and mentioned on here... and got thumbed down for it ! Also unbelievable
There was a time where we'd have shut up shop and settled for a point against the "big boys". The times, they are a-changin'.
Stat man... do you have any stats on "spells of play that were a joy to watch"? Having watched it live and again yesterday recorded, I'd say it was pretty even. But I know it's very subjective...
Someone in the week on here reminded us of the MO'N mantra "in our half, play like Wimbledon, in their half play like Brazil." Without going to such extremes, I think we were very much like that on Sat, and played some high quality football in their third.
It's sometimes hard to get any compliments out of Don Goodman, but he seemed to be in raptures at our display. Sam Saunders, polite, but less forgiving of the style. Which I found interesting.
Was just about to share the same - great write-up.
And I have to say, the Sunderland fans were superb on Saturday. Every club has its idiots and the bigger the club the more idiots, mostly just online thankfully, but knowing a few lifelong Sunderland fans they're a great, humorous and very much long-suffering bunch. Hope they all felt suitably welcome and entertained.
Spoke to quite a few Sunderland fans on Saturday who were very complimentary of Wycombe, one who is a mate thought Wycombe deserved a win and a penalty.

It was just one of those games where you thought every attack was going to end in a goal. Now to back it up against weaker opposition and start dishing out some thrashings.
@peterparrotface Sam said "...are they one of the prettiest teams to watch? No. Do they string lots of passes together? No. Are they going to give everything for the manager, run til the last whistle and put their bodies on the line? Yes".
He went on to say that he predicted to Kevin Phillips before the last corner that we would score from it, "because that's how they go about their business".
On reflection, it's all perfectly fair. When I was listening to it, it sounded like more of a backhanded compliment. But he has a flat, monotone delivery to sometimes his positives sound like negatives. I guess it felt to me like I had just watched us at our 'prettiest', yet he was still playing to the stereotypes...

Leeds have threatened to ban the parents of kids who invade the pitch, has been getting ridiculous up there.
Leeds has been a ridiculous place for hundreds of years. Agree with @Malone harmless

Seen the JJ clearance now about 100 times. One of the best I’ve ever seen. Extraordinary
