It’s great this fixture is getting exposure and being treated with the respect it deserves.
Great post @Lloyd2084 and also as our team ranged from trialists, to first team players with championship experience, players with loan experience to the national league and genuine young talent with potentially good futures, who were watched from ‘above’ by the first team manager and his assistant and also attended by our chairman, trust board members and a hell of a lot of Wycombe fans I think I’m really proud of our club on the whole tonight.
I found a wet Tuesday night in Thame a truly uplifting and heartening experience. A decent match, some very good performances and well taken goals. Long Crendon defended well and stuck at it to the end. Played out in front of a magnificent crowd of 1904, half the Long Crendon village turned out, a predominantly young crowd I would add. Well played one and all.
Also tonight, 868 saw Leighton Town beat Luton Town on penalties, in the Beds Senior Cup.
Well worth the trip down despite the defeat. I think LC acquitted themselves very well, although there was a big gulf in class. The OG the only difference between the sides at HT. My lad enjoyed the experience although he was shattered at FT
Totally agree with you there @Steve_Peart . Really impressed by some of our players tonight. Ollie Pendlebury looked good, hope he gets a chance in the first team again soon. Adam Leathers and Jack Young also impressive.
Thanks for the goal videos, good to see the goals again.
When you see some of the nonsense that goes on in the Premier League & the constant drivel written to fill newspaper pages this evening was like a breath of fresh air. Well done Long Crendon for sticking at it and for playing in front of a crowd nearly 50 times that of their last league crowd.
Good game which we dominated really from start to finish. Jack Young outstanding in midfield and Mehmeti on a different level first half. Second half we moved to behind the goal under a stand where our much maligned drummer Tom was in full voice with a couple of cronies. He spent the whole of the second half effing and blinding at the top of his voice with the odd use of the c word. A group of spotty youths were discussing near me whether they should do him as his abuse and foul language was completely over the top, but decided they might get nicked if they did!! Sadly his behaviour ensured lots of Dads with young kids had to leave the area. I know the lad has his problems but one of these days he is going to take a hammering from someone. Having a word with him would be a total waste of time due to his ‘issues’. He is an embarrassment to our club sadly.
@MBS Totally agree with the first two and a half lines of your post.
Is Tom the only person who swears at football?
I was behind the goal for the first 15 minutes of the second half, but moved after that because I couldn't see the game very well.
Didn't hear any swearing, just a bit of boisterous joviality, as is normal at football.

There's 'nonsense' at all levels of football - it's not exclusive to the Premier League (or English football, for that matter), which is still an absolutely fantastic product and the best the game has ever been in terms of quality.
Newbury Wanderer well you must be deaf. Foul language on and on at the top of his voice, with so many really young kids about. Know your audience, try and have some respect for those around you. It’s absolutely no wonder at all to me why he pisses off so many people.

The Champions League is probably a better example for my last point, but yeah. Elite level football clearly isn't perfect from a match-going fan POV, but it's got plenty going for it! (And this isn't a knock on non-League, which I go to now and then).
Right guys if u was around me tonight ok I am sorry all right I was just having fun maybe I was bit over top but most ppl do sorry if I upset but at least we are in the next round take care ppl much love up the Wycombe ?

Sorry mate if I upset you but if you want take this to private place come chat to me on Twitter pal but I am sorry ok don’t mean to upset anyone
I used to enjoy a reserve team game almost as much as a first team fixture way back when. You got to appreciate the game play without the stress of the result and the tension caused by the away support.
I think the club should consider covering the further B&B games with a camera and maybe giving a volunteer a chance to stand in for Phil at maybe a fiver I’m sure with our Iraqi friends and people like me there’d make their money back.

It must be my age, but I find it really sad to see the top tier of English football described as a "product". Not saying you're wrong, quite the opposite in fact - it definitely is a product.
For me it slightly devalues the entire point of being a football fan. We cheer our team on, hoping for success, but the ultimate prize for that success is apparently to no longer be a fan but a customer of Elite Football Ltd, paying £20 for a burger and having gambling ads forced at you. I wouldn't want Wycombe to be relegated back to non-league, but I sure do prefer the match day experience at non-league games.

I guess maybe I'd think differently if I supported a Premier League club - I don't know - but, for me, it's a simple case of loving football and wanting to watch the highest-quality version of the sport possible as a neutral.
I think you've hit upon the exact thing we should be striving for as a league club. Progressing as far as we can on the field whilst preserving all the very best bits about our amateur history.
I think we've done a reasonable job of this in recent years but it does lay bare everything that was wrong about the proposed move to a new stadium in Booker. We'd have left behind everything that made us remotely unique and just become another identikit club in an identikit stadium. A wannabe Reading. Imagine having that as the thing you're striving to be.

I agree with @eric_plant, under Gaz I think a lot of the joy of supporting a small team has returned for the first time since John Gorman was here. The years in between were pretty joyless for me as we'd lost sight of who we are and what we should be. Maybe we had under Gorman too, but it was just so bloody fun to watch. Related: it makes me sad to hear of a Wycombe fan shouting abuse at a club like Long Crendon given our rich non-league history.

Yeah, that's just pathetic (but entirely unsurprising)

This will be a tough game. Several young players won’t have played in front of such a vocal partisan crowd, LC will come at us ‘all guns blazing’, they play as a team our lads have little recent game time, they are in form, they will be physical, the weather will be terrible. Has banana skin written all over it.
Haa!! Which explains why I am not charged with developing the potential of our young professional players. Well done lads, keep it up and in return I’ll keep my misguided opinions to my self.

Agreed, though I found this passage in the body of the article a bit weird...
Speaking after the defeat on the kind gesture, manager Ryan Davis said: “It’s brilliant and it’s no more than what I would have expected from Wycombe, having dealt with them over the course of this tie.
“Every single one of their staff members, without fail, has been unavailable.
Brilliant gesture from the club. I think Chelsea did the same to us for the LC semi-final, didn't they?
That article is terribly written though, like this quote from the LC manager: "Every single one of their staff members, without fail, has been unavailable"
Contradicts the entire piece and makes no sense. Anyone any idea what word it should be rather than 'unavailable'?

They're so clearly either self-subbing or not subbing at all - neither of which is remotely ideal. The former is pretty common these days - I have to do it myself for some work - but the BFP are regularly sloppy.

You're right, nothing particularly outrageous, no real malice there, no different to the language used on this message board every so often.

I used to go to reserve team games at Aylesbury and have a sleep. A simpler time.

Another good reason to support Wycombe Wanderers. Not only classy but a real 'football' decision.
