The new owners are going to want to use the full range of dodgy financial arrangements at their disposal to "lose" the debt . Would not be at all surprised if they can suddenly pay good money the day after its all cleaned up and the players will know that.
Didn't Oldham cancel because they can't access one of their stands due to it being owned by a third party who wanted to charge too much to be financially viable?
The stand closure and the cancellation of the Bolton friendly are unrelated. They didn't use the stand in their friendly against Rochdale, but the match still went ahead.
I assume Oldham cancelled the Bolton game due to not having confidence that Bolton would fulfil it and instead, preferred to reschedule against another team that will actually turn up!
Bolton just beat Bradford 2-1. Interestingly, Erhun Oztumer - probably their best player - was involved, although he's been linked with a move to Charlton.
Tickets still not on sale for Bolton. My contacts at Bolton suggest WWFC won't release any as they still haven't paid other clubs for them yet. Reckon it will be pay on day if it goes ahead. Could be a nightmare as sounds like they will bring a couple of thousand (one guy said he was going to the ground even if it wasn't on!).
Heard a rumour about the team taking over at Bolton...that they are literally just looking who they can get in in time for first game...high on list...Ched Evans!
I don't think the EFL have any clue if Bolton will be able to fulfill the fixture, and as for making a decision based upon the best interest of all concerned - well there's not a hope they will do that until the last possible moment, even if it's 14:59 next Saturday.
On that basis we can't expect WWFC to do anything other than there very best to expect the fixture to go ahead but not over commit to any expenses that wouldn't be recoverable if the fixture is postponed.
It's the EFL that need to make a decision not WWFC

This is a shocker.
With all the money flooding around at the top level, there should be some emergency pot available.
Although maybe that would encourage more reckless spending/behaviour from clubs and owners, knowing there's a fall back.
Football clubs seem to have an incredible ability to carry on, whatever debts that amass.
The Bolton News: "WANDERERS’ opening day fixture against Wycombe could be put under review by the EFL if the Football Ventures consortium fail to get their takeover across the line today."
Not sure that the words "integrity & English Football League", should be used in the same sentence? Unless of course "integrity" is preceded by "lack of!
either Bolton are incapable of selling their own tickets or the new ticket system means we’re in charge of selling tickets in the away end this season.

Takeover close to completion, so it says on SSN anyway.
That is really great news, @th100! It would be fantastic to start the season as normal, especially against a team which has not had time to gel yet.
Bolton’s final scheduled friendly has been cancelled.
It was cancelled at Oldham's request, although I think Bolton are playing Bradford behind closed doors.
Presumably Oldham canceled it because they wanted a guaranteed game.

Sounds like they could be quite a handful!

Anyone close to the Club know?

Would they get another points deduction?

means they pay us direct and Bolton don't get there hands on the money - Id say very sensible of us !!!
That’s certainly one benefit.
They've just not been able to start selling them - something to do with still being in administration?
At the moment Bolton have sold no season tickets and have no tickets on sale for any of their home games for this coming season.
Game likely to be off if EFL aren't satisfied by 5pm today https://www.efl.com/news/2019/july/efl-statement-bolton-wanderers-and-bury-fc/
