There is plenty of high quality, well-sourced reporting going on.
There's also a lot of absolute shit in both tabloids and broadsheets.
Unfortunately, many people believe it is exclusively the latter and have consequently stopped reading the papers and excuse themselves on the basis that it is all 'lazy journalism' anyway.
The result is a media industry struggling to survive and recruit decent reporters, a public which is disengaged and poorly informed, and a government which finds it increasingly easy to sidestep scrutiny.
@ReturnToSenda I was at that match at Northampton next door to the cricket ground. The stadium was effectively 2 and a half sides. It did boast a huge bank of terracing though behind half of one goal, which was packed with 2000+ Wycombe fans that day. But yes, a very unique ground!
As @micra will remind us there isn’t such a thing as ‘very unique’.
Indeed the Northampton stadium isn’t even ‘unique’, until 1973 Sheffield United’s ground was also used for Yorkshire county cricket matches (indeed it was a cricket ground first).
Quite regular in the southern hemisphere where they get a bit more year round sun and developed or borrowed other games for a bit of rotation in the off season.
Just been looking at the Gallery pictures for the game. Great shot where Sutton defenders have huge hand of Vokes’ and Keogh’s shirts with ball in close vicinity. Vokes clearly being fouled - what game was the ref watching?

Dangerous myth to perpetuate.

No matchday thread yet, but is this Northampton playing at the cricket ground? I'd heard about it, but it looks totally surreal. https://twitter.com/wwfcofficial/status/1697250582610993563
Or perhaps when get your initials tattooed, one on each bollock?
What if you have a double-barrelled name?
One on the shaft, and if necessary another on the gooch?
It does doesn't it? I'd seen maybe three Wycombe games by this point, but it looks like it belongs to a totally different world.
I was at that game and it was the first time I’d been to a half and half ground, nearly as bad as the scarfs
@Glenactio of course I was using hyperbole rather myth creation. No-one believes anything I say is anything but facetious...not even the BFP.

Gasman says we once played Corinthian Casuals at the Oval - even crazier!
It will be nice to see the green and white, but I can't figure out how the quarters clash with Northampton?
I was there too. It all felt a bit peculiar and it was made all the more surreal by seeing Guppy score with his head
My old school had use of the Oval for games lessons in the 90’s.

Same for me, I was there for that game as well, was a bit weird, I seemed to spend a lot of the time just gazing across the cricket pitch !
One of I think two grounds to host an FA Cup final, an England football international and a Test match?
Same here.
Im sure the Northampton player crossing for their goal is Mickey Bell and Steve Brown must have been playing but can’t see him in the clip.
from a left-footed Dave Carroll cross too.

I too was at that match, a very surreal experience. 🤷
Are you Hanlan's agent out of interest?
I didn't even see the error first time. I think I've become immune to the BFP and their constant errors.
The other I imagine being The Oval.
Yeah, thought there might be a third one too

Maybe the original Crystal Palace Park?
Bramall Lane most likely
The BFP have been using the Gasroom as a source for stories for decades
Yeah, Bramall Lane and the Oval definitely - I had it in my head there was a third on top of those but apparently not!
