Even with 7th being play offs you'd already be developing a scenario where we come 8th and lose out to Peterborough, followed by a campaign by Swanny saying how it's a moral victory for us "stealing" their place a few years ago.
Surely the glass half full v empty concept depends on other factors, such as what is in the glass (desirable or undesirable) and also whether you have ownership and license to enjoy the contents. For instance, a "half empty" glass of ice cold beer, the other half of which already comfortable resides in your stomach, may be more satisfying than a "half full" ice cold glass of beer which belongs to someone else.
Similarly, the glass half empty person may be someone who simply enjoys reminiscing upon and appreciating the recent past ("I really enjoyed that half a glass of beer, so the empty portion is a reminder of all those good memories of sipping") whereas the glass half full person may be more future oriented ("Look at this remaining half a glass of beer I get to look forward to sipping!").
From a more optimistic perspective, if we can get through the MK Dons and Ipswich games with say 3 or 4 points, which should keep us in contention, we’d then go into 3 matches in 8 days against the bottom three clubs in League One (FGR, Morecambe and Cambridge).
What a make or break week that could be. Never easy to play the clubs at the bottom at this time of the year as Sheffield Wednesday found out today but still a real opportunity, particularly if we could get Big Sam and/or Garath back.
I was so late it was one of them where the steward led me through for free. Had the same at Burton recently...amazing how many vips are quaffing champagne in the restaurant there!
Yesterdays performance and result was akin to Gillingham and Wimbledon away at a later stage of last season. I guess the mathematics of the league table both last and this season keep us in with the shout of with maybe an upturn in form, or the chances we are currently creating being taken or of the players out injured returning from injury. I prefer the mantra of its never over until it’s over but guessing again that you look at things differently as per your name tag.
In the absence of Vokes we had to try something and playing Hanlan through the middle is the obvious one...I'm not convinced AAH or Horgan or Mellor would have turned the game in our favour either. I agree that Hanlan looks better out wide but not sure I could fault the line-up on Saturday given our squad. Sometimes the luck is with you. Let's hope our toothless front line will run riot if only to upset the MK faithful.
I’m not quite certain whether we’re playing TJay in his preferred role at the minute. When he played against Northampton in the League Cup at the start of the season he led the line, as he did against Bracknell in the B&B. Whereas we’ve used him more as a No10 in the last 3 matches.
i think that might suit him a bit more as it gives him a chance to try and get the ball into his feet and turn the centre halves. We could then also put Hanlan out wide and bring Wheeler back into the No10 role or have him up alongside TJay.
I wonder if inflikted could tell us where he normally plays for Gibraltar?
Turns out he has recovered. Happy for him. Hope he has a very minor relapse and doesn't have to face us Saturday. He deserves love and applause for the player he was with us but... well it's franchise isn't it.

Peterborough at home this season?
Not to mention when they took the lead!!
It’s rare for me to feel anything other than nervous apprehension during a game.
It’s a different thing assessing the likelihood of achieving a season’s objectives.
When we fell outside the play offs after that bad run last season what were you saying about our chances? I can't quite remember
Kaikai is on international duty

I wasn’t confident when I made the trip to Morecambe last season and we were top of the league then. We lost, of course.
I think we’ll finish tenth, so you have a point.
Stewart could face us next week.

I'm sure you have many responsibilities in life @HomerLone, but I would encourage you to find that other sock. Find the sock brother!

It was a 25% chance. Not the miracle it was reported as. It's great fun reminding those who 'bottled it' and didn't travel to Devon though.
there's your mathematics 😉
Seems you can now get us at 20-1 to win the playoffs
I've seen 5/1 which is value imho. Where is 20s?
edit..sorry to wn playoffs you say
5/1 about making playoffs is a rick. (a bigger price than staying up at Torquay).

My only ambition in life is to welcome @Shev on a whirlwind tour of Wycombe and sip beer whilst the sun goes down over the Chilterns
No regrets from me. I didn’t want to be there. I’d much rather have not been there and win than vice versa.
I’ve never really recovered from the Torquay LDV Vans hot dog incident tbh.
Our sunset beer dream can happen someday, my friend. Keep believing!
We agreed that the hot dog incident would never be made public. I am still feeling the effects, so would appreciate it if you didn't publicise it
Haha! Love it! It’s not quite the can of coke at Carlisle though. 😉
It was the best ottle of coke you've ever had!
oh to be young again 😉
That Carlisle away was one of the best. Poor student turning up after 30 minutes
with a hangover. We got a one nil win didn't we?

I was more thirsty afterwards than I was before. Roger Johnson 86th minute winner. Workington was blue that night!
Haha! I always make sure my fellow football supporters are suitably hydrated.
Yeah Roger Johnson and a mental celebration. Happy days

Thought I read somewhere that he is back in training, but my memory isn't what it used to be?

I didn't think he was noticeably playing much deeper than Brandon on Saturday
