@prufrock_91 it's an excellent point about frugality, as you put it. That's tournament international football. Look at Greece 04 and Portugal 16. Both fairly poor teams but won grinding it out. Brazil always great on paper..normally fail. It's something England have been poor at in the past. Don't think Southgate is an amazing manager but he recognises this
I suspect he is the way he is because no one ever said no to him whilst he was growing up. (I am still unsure if he is a grown up from so much of his behaviour in & around football)
Brazil France final nailed on as Neymar vs Mbappe would be very fitting for a tournament owned by the Gulf states. I suppose Argentina and Portugal have to make the last four because Ronaldo Messi.
I’m so relieved to see the Gasroom back on the road again. I began to think that I was going to have to spend the rest of my days on Twitter and Facebook.
Seriously though, I vaguely remember there was a possibility a couple of years ago that @drcongo might have to call it a day. I’m not sure if that was for financial reasons but I do recall that several of us said at the time that we were prepared to chip in if that was indeed the case. If that situation should ever arise, I feel confident that there would be many Gasroomers happy to contribute to running costs.
Yes @micra, I'm still with you on the support for the Gasroom. I'll always try and help in some way (no problem with financial contribution) as this site means such a lot to me and I'm sure, us all on here.
As someone who enjoys visiting matchday opponent's forums for a good hatewank I have to say we are blessed having a place like this. Being bombarded with pop-ups and adverts on most other forums makes you realise how easy on the eye this place is.
For anyone feeling cold and miserable...look up 'Fair Game (1994)', a great film set during the 1970 World Cup. A fantastic and little known piece of work.
A lot of forums ad tech have been outsourced to people like Snack Media and PlanetSport, who cram them full of ads.
Fair play to DrCongo for having no interest in all that and funding this out his own pocket. I work in ad tech sadly, and he could make some nice pocket money if he did it.

Graeme Souness doesn't rate France. Not like him to chat bollocks!
He is funny. I fancy a low scoring game here. France are sht hot but a draw will suit both teams.
Cue 5 all classic
Someone earlier on this thread said we were going to go through having "done the minimum".
Seemingly forgetting our best ever opening win in a world cup of 6-2!
Was hoping he was going to say they were missing Pogba!
Southgate has a pretty amazing record whether you rate him as a manager of not.
since 1970 other managers have managed England in 22 tournaments reaching 0 finals and two semis
southgate has managed England reaching one final and a total of two semis.
and yet he is repeatedly slagged off
crazy.
It was Pogba's fault they conceded v Australia
But he is spot on about Foden, who should be starting over Mount
Everything about Cristiano Ronaldo is horrible isn't it?
Yep, he is actually making me dislike Portugal
I suspect he is the way he is because no one ever said no to him whilst he was growing up. (I am still unsure if he is a grown up from so much of his behaviour in & around football)
The Gasroom is back! What happened?
Someone threw a flare into the crowd.
Something like that anyway.
You didn’t already dislike them?

It's all theatre.

Anyway, it’s good to be back.
As head of VAR I apologise for the ridiculously long time the garoom was out of service
Checking to see if the entire thread had crossed the line? Or was it prevented by a single post?

We're at the stage where pub staff don't realise which is the crucial game.
To be fair, even ITV don't realise that.

Impressed with the ref in the England v Wales game, has managed the game really well
I don't want to ever know what a hatewank is @Kim_il_Swan. Sounds very messy ..

Top lad drcongo indeed for running this site
The last 9 minutes of USA vs Iran is quite hectic.
And so say all of us.
As we used to say, “motion passed nem con”.
Another one for @Twizz to comment on, perhaps.
Shocking, They usually get on so well and without incident.
