Hope they get a good bit of compo too, always seems weird clubs not wanting to pay £5-6m for a manager, often ripping up any momentum that club had, but then entrusting the manager with tens of millions of pounds of player investment.
In the Europa League tonight there's an intriguing clash between Union Berlin and Union St. Gilloise.
Both clubs improbably fighting out in Europe, especially Union Berlin whose rise up from near bankruptcy in the regional 4th tier in 2005 up to challenging at the business end of the Bundesliga in little over 15 years is an incredible story of doing things patiently the right way with no big money backer.
Also, their match this evening at their Stadion an der Alten Försterei ground will be one of the first UEFA club competition matches where supporters can stand on permanent terracing (rather rail seating) since the previous ban was brought in during the 90s.
Thoroughly researched successful in a european league, unknown to most of the pub pundits here, exactly what you'd expect from them, not without risk of course.
I stumbled across Nashville v LA Galaxy last night. Thought I’d give the ex-Wycombe boys a cheer, although only saw Gary Smith in the dugout. Gupps must’ve been there somewhere... Anyhoo - with Nashville one up, Galaxy won a VAR pen with the last action of the game - harsh close range handball initially not given but overturned. Keeper got a hand to the penalty but it went in for 1-1. Prevented four successive wins for Nashville. They are nonetheless third in their side of the MLS - keep going boys!
@micra FotMob is an application which can be downloaded to a smartphone, and it provides news and information etc. relating to football. I only heard about it myself two days ago when my son's brother in law (not sure what else to refer to him as) recommended it to me. If it had not been for that then I should have been just as much in the dark as you. I haven't really used the app much yet so cannot say whether it is any good.
I have been using FotMob for years for score updates. Also useful for seeing which broadcasters are showing matches, including a menu to list all upcoming televised games from around the world, available in this country. It also marks players out of ten, including at our level, although those scores are sometimes surprising. It gives scores down to National League North/South in this country and has comprehensive coverage of World leagues.
If you only want to install one app then LiveScore is probably better. It goes one level deeper, to step 3/tier 7, and very usefully has highlights of games, home and abroad, including ours. It also has live scores for other sports - cricket, tennis, horse racing, ice hockey and basketball. Like FotMob, its football World coverage is very good.
Another to consider, if you have an interest in non-league, is FootballWebPages which gives scores down to step 4/tier 8 and has a good roundup of news, including non-league. Coverage of international leagues is restricted to the main European ones.
I swear by FotMob now as they have pretty much the full Opta data package. In-depth stats right down to our level. SofaScore has some additional useful bits like heat maps and average positions, but I found they made a lot of mistakes with goals notifications etc.
Thanks for that @Cyclops. You have clearly overtaken me IT/US sucker-wise since those days when I tried to persuade you how user-friendly iPhones were !
I’m still unsure what BonoBlink (?) is but assume an American sucker club. It’s not for me, I’m afraid, although if there was no Premier League or EFL and the choice was between sucker and American football, the former would win hands down. I can eventually come to terms with and understand the rules and tactics of pretty well any game but American Football leaves me cold. It’s not something I’m proud of and I would love to be able to share the enjoyment the game gives to my pro-American son-in-law and grandson but it just doesn’t do it for me.
Bodo/Glimt play in the town of Bodo, and were originally known simply as Glimt, which means ‘flashes.’ Perhaps a slightly zestier version of Wanderers. The name of the town was added to avoid confusion with other teams named Glimt. The slash was originally a hyphen, but that looked too much like the Norwegian pools coupon so was gradually phased out.

Just heard £21m compensation mentioned on the radio. That plus 4 years' salary for the sacked one amounts to a tidy sum
I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott Parker turn up at Brighton

USG are owned by Brighton's chairman, aren't they? Also have Christian Burgess (ex-Pompey) playing for them.
He'd be extremely lucky to get that. Should be a proper list of candidates ready at Brighton and a queue as long as your arm surely.
Another "fine example" of VAR in the Man Utd game tonight. Even Dev would probably struggle to agree with that handball decision.
This weekend's games off, next weekend on.

Wrong thread!
Ok, apparently they're looking at Kjetil Knutsen (Bodo/Glimt) and Roberto De Zerbi (most recently Shakhtar) 🤷♂️
Bodo/Glimt have had a great couple of years.
Yet still no one's sure what to call them

Would make an awesome band name.
the FotMob admins are B/G fans. I asked them once…can’t remember what the answer was tho!
That’s got to be the most obscure and least insightful post of the week. Nearly said ‘day’ but not sure what day it is.

I have Fotmob downloaded mainly just for the score updates, must say I think it's probably the best app for that kind of thing I've come across
Incredible scenes at the Cádiz - Barça game last night. Thankfully sounds like the fan concerned was saved. https://twitter.com/Sachk0/status/1568677155760140288?t=fEak2giWn4mbxq_Zw8V7Pw&s=08

Thanks for the footballwebpages tip @Steve_Peart ! I like to see down to that level but always seem to struggle to find it, not anymore !

They must be one of the most northerly teams ever to play in a European completion - Bodø is in the Arctic Circle
Tromso have played in Europe on a number of occasions -Tottenham played there in late November perhaps eight years ago. A lottle nippy out.....
Ooh yes, they must take the honour!
In their first nine games PNE have scored only three goals but conceded only two! That must be a record.
Tonight was the first time they'd scored and conceded in the same game this season. Mad.
