They blocked me on Twitter after I expressed my disapproval at the postponement. I didn’t even tag them in the post, so they must have just come across it. Petty!

I got blocked by the chairman of Kings Lynn Town for calling them out on their £15 matchday programme. Must be an East Anglian thing.

I’d be really interested to know what was inside of that programme for £15

For £15, most of Kings Lynn I expect.

I'm not sure if they brought the price down, but that's how much it cost for their first game in the National League. Their ticket prices are comparable to ours as well.

I hope Ainsworth has learnt something - you don't win football matches playing a single proper centre back in League One

In fairness we won quite a few in the Championship this way

Yeah, it's just on the blink tonight - but it's still the iFollow feed, so blame the EFL

It’s a mix of very sharp with odd blocky freezes when there’s too much movement.

It puts me in mind of a 1970's Top Of The Pops video. Half expecting to see a scantily clad Pan's People dance across the screen.... One can live in hope.

Thought it was part of the Mardi Gras theme.

Championship football and League One football are two very different things.

  • So maybe the Ainsworth project isn't utterly finished just yet then?

Although we always win when fireworks are knocking about.

And those were pretty decent, you'd have to be fairly miserable, (or be sat in the Main stand) to not enjoy them

  • Fireworks every game is the formation!

We've won five League One games this season playing with one 'proper' centre-back

  • edited March 2022

And seven of our nine losses have come while playing with two 'proper' centre-backs (or starting with, as Stewart obvs got sent off v MK away). There's no correlation.

  • Didn't really feel like there was "something wrong" this evening. Results often cloud people's perception eh?

We've started with 11 players in every game we've lost too!

  • Great first half and we did what we had to do in the second. Cambridge looked quite toothless but what a team performance. Horgan the best I've seen him, Wing is a good player, Scowen, Mcleary, Taffs, Stewart, Obita all on form but my MOTM was Vokes again. Onwards we march. (No complaints about GMac getting the nod by the way.) @Wanderers82 obviously still dazzled by the fireworks.

  • I voted for Vokes as well. It still amazes me that he plays for us

And the ball has been the same shape every time ?

  • I voted for Vokes as well but it was really difficult to choose between four or five of them. Anis was very good but went for Vokes for his goal line clearance at 2-0, his defensive headers and general all round display.
A very good evening, back to winning ways, some confidence with a clean sheet and some lovely passing football as well as long balls.
Only negative for me was we did run out of steam around 75 minutes and the subs could have been a bit earlier to counteract that!
Looking forward to Crewe on Saturday…

Warmed me up a treat. Couldn't really see anything except flames and smoke though.

  • From my armchair tonight I'll give special praise for Lewis Wing. He was picking up plenty of second balls all night and his passing was crisp and pacey.

Horgan was tremendous - worked his arse off. Interesting to see Gaz's comments about him making a pre-match speech of some sort - he's never really struck me as that sort of player.

Jason McCarthy, not at his best this season, also had a fine game.

Great to see G-Mac back on his best form and I think he shades Anis' fine performance for me as he was never out of the game.

In fact, they were all quality.

fantastic performance tonight, Vokes was exceptional ad well and Anis , GMac (should of scored his 1on 1 in 1st half) as well as Taf , what a huge difference he makes . was refreshing to see us playing the ball on the floor....keep it up GA!

  • We are scoring goals of late which is a plus

  • Just got home, that 1st half was fantastic.... see we CAN play football !!

Vokes, Horgan, Mehmeti, McCleary and Scowen superb ! Two center backs, what a difference that makes ! Why has Mehmeti been out of the team ?

  • Well we know we can score goals, the difference tonight was defensively. I thought Cambridge played a very Wycombe type game, perhaps a bit more passing out from the keeper but happy to go long as well.

The real difference was seen in the 20 minutes after half time. This has been a weakness in recent games but tonight we snuffed out Cambridge, ran the clock down and looked in control, even out of possession. Liked the back four, liked Scowen and Wing in midfield, liked the front four…what’s not to like?

And Vokes’ clearance off the line was priceless!

  • Great performance tonight. First half was some of the best football we’ve played this season. Patient, calm, precise and directed football - superb. And this was against a decent mid table side. Second half we were solid and worked well for each other but retained a threat on the break which is so important. I thought every player out there deserved a lot of credit today but I have to single out Vokes who I thought was exceptional. He is getting better and better, and looks a much better player when getting the ball into his feet. And that goal line clearance and his reaction to it was brilliant to see. I’ve said it before, he is key to our long term success as a club, we need to keep him if it is at all possible. He is a leader and a really good egg.

Finally, well done Gareth and Dobbo. To get such an excellent and confident performance out of the team today shows where their main strengths lie. Let’s stick with a back 4 going forward now please, so much more solidity.

  • Just got home. Very refreshing to see us play on the floor. Thought everyone had a good game, probably Horgan's best game in a Wycombe shirt. Whole team jelled and it worked, made them look distinctly average. Top game, well done boys and COYB!,,

  • Mehmet makes the team buzz

    Unlucky son

  • I believe Phil mentioned during commentary that he has found in the archives the full match video coverage for the Wimbledon FA Cup replay, and that it will be uploaded to Wanderers TV this week. I am very much looking forward to watching it.

  • Did Horgan go off injured, or was it just cramp?

  • Having slept on it, wow what a great team effort all round. Cambridge might not have offered much but the space we created with a team loaded with ball players made all the difference.
Feel I should acknowledge that we built from the back and that Taff was absolutely key to that, he had a great game going forward, I didn’t understand how much we had missed him and how much confidence he gives to Tools.
Wing provides real poise and calm.
Horgan works so well with GMac.
Obita is making left back his own.
Everything has already been said about Volkes and Mehmeti.
Everyone to a man was on their A game, superb.
Maybe we have rediscovered our best line up?
Which might mean that there isn’t room beyond the bench for Hanlan and Thomo? Which is remarkable.
It was joy to be at AP last night from pyrotechnics to final whistle. Onwards……

  • It was a very subdued atmosphere last night and it seemed as if the crowd were anticipating a drop off in the performance level and a comeback from Cambridge.

Much better with that shape and Taff and Stewart back together with both McCarthy and Obita having solid games. Mehmeti, Horgan, McCleary, Scowen, Wing and Vokes were all excellent especially in the first half.

It still irritates me that Stockdale seems to need to waste time every time he gets the ball. I love Stocko but that part of his game is annoying.

If that Wing chance had gone in it would have been up there for goal of the season, excellent flowing move.

  • Same team and shape next time out please Gareth we don’t need to change unless someone is injured.
