I'm surprised that no-one has pointed out that, if there hadn't been so much time added on for the injury (hope the guy is okay), we wouldn't have had time to score the equaliser.
Shithousery at its finest I'd say .
The Sunderland forum is in meltdown as usual , never happy, complaining about Jacobson getting man of the match but it’s good to see , strikers doing their job gets it normally defenders are often ignored. They will go up only a slightly weakened side as are we.

Just watching the goals back. Pure class from Vokes for his goal.
I’d call it strength and street wisdom more than class.
In fairness, Lee Johnson has just described Vokes and Bayo as "world class" at winning that initial ball!
It's almost like football people have a tendency to over exaggerate.
Nah, I'll take it. And I hope the woman in the terrace who looked absolutely incandescent with rage when Bayo came on felt suitably foolish after his role in winning the corner and then the goal.
I cannot understand...once Vokes has run himself to a standstill...why people get so worked up about one of our top goal scorers coming on against a tiring defence. It's as if - despite all the evidence - they have no idea what he brings to the team.
In defence of @Safc_in_peace, I’m guessing he was a fair distance away from the horrendous challenge on Scowen. Also, his insightful contributions to this thread have been most welcome and we look forward to a repeat performance in the Championship next season.

I'm sure there was a study done that said that for a high percentage of people, once they have decided on an opinion, no level of evidence will change it.
Add in the emotion at games getting people shouting idiotic things without thinking, and it's only going to be increased.
The anti Bayo lot have had to be quiet as hell the last few years, but it's still been there underlying.
Johnson in his post match interview suggested there were 2 contrasting styles at play.
I'm pretty sure they utilised a fair bit of ball in the air to their beanpole striker, while we have McCleary, Mehmeti and Obita, who I defy anyone to suggest are anything but silky footballers.
On another positive note, Herbie Kane has just been sent off for Oxford so misses our game next Saturday. Cameron Brannigan hobbled off in the first half so they're going to be seriously under strength.

Q Covid outbreak!
Yep, that's the problem.
They'll be encouraging their players to get up close and personal in some nightclubs asap!

They had their big covid outbreak before Christmas and credit to them only postponed one game, when they had no fit keeper.

I think we’ve used up our allocation of late goals for the next 10 years, but brilliant effort. Got a take a point after a game like that.
Awful refereeing at times, so inconsistent
You know when ref has had a bad game when you have a sore throat after shouting so much! Good ref goes unnoticed.
Shows how people see things differently. I thought the referee was okay on the whole. Except for the Hanlon pen call I cannot remember being aggrieved by too much.
I sit quite close to @Wendoverman so we had a pretty similar view. I was never convinced it was a penalty. As you say we see things differently and that is one of the main feeders for this board.

I know of someone, previously a season ticket holder of twenty years, that says he’ll not go to another game while Bayo is in the squad “because he can’t run and adds nothing to the team”.
The splutters and chokes when you point out he’s out league top score is as Hilarious as it is sad

Depends on your view of it I guess. Stood on the Valley End barely 10 yards from it, directly in my line of vision, the defender clearly made contact with Hanlon after the ball had gone. No TV camera had a better view of it, everyone who was in that bit of the terrace was convinced it should have been a pen. The ref seems to have in his head that Hanlon is a diver and gave him the square root of zilch all game. If it had been him that Embleton (I think it was) went studs in on, I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd booked Hanlon.

I hope JJ's hammy is ok after that clearance. As whoever it was on co-comms said, OUTRAGEOUS.

Bayo for Vokes was an obvious change. Bayo’s strength is not diminished.
And yet you were doing so well @Safc_in_peace
Bring on Bolton and then ‘Three sides’.

Watch out, people don't like whining about referees on here
Hopefully Wigan and Rotherham squeeze through and that'll add some nice congestion.
Just realised there's no replays this season now are there?

Just home. What a cracking game! Well played, both teams.
They had their big covid outbreak before Christmas and credit to them only postponed one game, when they had no fit keeper.
I would imagine every Sunderland fan will be celebrating in style tonight
The morons on the not606 Sunderland site are calling GA a shithouse manager. Probably because he turned them down for a better club!!!!
I expected ref to show the card for diving there as well.

Playing for us ? Sunderland should have gone down to 10!

Nice try, if a bit obvious. Robson Green levels of fishing there.
Having seen the challenge on Scowen again, I still think it's a red but not as strongly as I did at the time
