I should clarify. I don't think players ever really down tools as far as deliberately play badly. But I think players can get to a point of confusion, demotivation and general discouragement to where they make mistake after mistake, and have no self belief. I think QPR have been more or less in that place for a little while.
My (mischievous deliberately) post was a response to :
“This is the sort of thing that happens when you elect a Lib Dem council, a party which is no longer Liberal or Democratic. I'm sure the beard-wearing muesli eaters will be proud of themselves”
which is a fairly black and white position (in my view) when none of us are that well informed on the circumstances.
But I will apologise for the semantics in suggesting a reduction in the budget is the same as a cut in the budget as I accept legally they may be very different (albeit the effect won’t in practice).
(And I also won’t go into the debate about why local authorities are struggling to balance the books as I’m sure national government is entirely powerless to influence anything).
At least with us it felt like Gareth was always confident we'd crack it. And with all due respect to some of the early lineups we knew that was a temporary solution while we upgraded.
To be 3 points from 12 is pretty bleak football wise.
Colchester sack Ben Garner, MB's replacement, while languishing in a L2 relegation spot, which is where they were before Blooms dragged them up the table. Another aspect of the QPR-Wycombe-Colchester sliding doors from February.
Andy Holt having a bit of a Twitter meltdown, Accy not doing well and manager supposedly leaking contract negotiations via media, says he's had enough and basically good luck to the next mug.

Why that conclusion? As opposed to them having a weak squad compared to the rest of the league?
A few QPR fans I've spoken to think a lot of the present squad have few tools they can down.
Bobby Charlton has died

Who is left from 1966 the only one i can think of is Geoff Hurst. RIP Bobby you were a legend.
Only a handful from the squad, I think.
In the days where people declare a player a "legend" for next to nothing, Sir Bobby Charlton is a proper legend, a gentleman as well.
They might well be in a position they need fresh impetus. But it feels like QPR have been in that position for as far back as you can remember now.
Sunderland seemed to be in the same boat until their recent slight return.
Met him about 40 years ago in Maidenhead when he was opening an all weather pitch. Lovely friendly gentleman.
Can I recommend you read what you post sometimes?

RIP Bobby. An absolute icon for my generation
Indeed Geoff Hurst now the only one left from '66. Was still doing speaking engagements earlier in the year too.
RIP sir Bobby
High flying Birmingham lose master tactician Rooneys first game in charge, working his magic already
Terry Paine, Ian Callaghan and George Eastham the only other squad members still alive
Thanks for the correction. Squad players, always destined to be somewhat forgotten.
My apologies to them.
In different news, am I the only one who thinks that challenge from Sanchez(?), in goal for Chelsea, was a clear foul?
Nowhere near the ball and takes out Jesus in a careless, if not reckless, manner?
How Arsenal can think that clown in goal is better than Ramsdale is beyond me.
It's 2023 and Man United have a starting CB partnership of Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire. Incredible.
A friend sent me this about GA:
After 12 games in the Championship:
QPR 23/24 :
Won 2
Drawn 2
Lost 8
Points 8
GD -13
Wycombe 20/21:
Won 2
Drawn 2
Lost 8
Points 8
GD -13
I know he has been dealt a bad hand, but considering Wycombe's budget and dreadful start, it's a little grim to match those first 12.
QPR fans not happy with the club for not changing manager during the international break
Those are some sobering statistics.
Mad coincidence there.
Makes you then look at Sheffield Wed, who looked superb in our division last year, with 3 points from the first 12!
All manner of problems there, and I don't think they did much summer business?
At least with us it felt like Gareth was always confident we'd crack it. And with all due respect to some of the early lineups we knew that was a temporary solution while we upgraded.

Here's QPR attempting to score today https://twitter.com/r_insights23/status/1715750521254895826?t=I_1fJaFphKhkDp0989WwSg&s=19
Watching EFL highlights on ITV4… it didn’t take long for them to call them Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City.
I swear Birmingham must base their managerial changes based on accidentally reading the league table upside down.
At least Rooney made the first step of taking them to the top of the upside down table.
