I had friends that went to both grammar and secondary, and all I can say is, the most intelligent and successful people I know never went to a grammar school
Think it's a bit daft to think one way or another about someone depending on what school they happened to be sent to when they were 11, but there you go.
I had a great time at school, made some brilliant mates (many of whom are still mates to this day) and loved being able to see them every day and have a laugh.
Funnily enough that's what I think about when I think back to school, not how they approached the Physics syllabus.
Really good video with Stocko on YouTube/ Facebook in the "Under the Cosh" series, was from December so might have been mentioned before. Mostly about Brum pissing him about but also Interesting bit about how little we were prepared/ able to pay as a contribution to his wages (£600pw at one point) and him writing off this last two months pay so he could just be around for the playoffs. Always comes across very well.
Not going to a grammar school isn't in any way the end, just like not getting a degree isn't.
I dare say these days there's plenty of this, but in my day I don't remember much "these are important, but not the end of the world" type sentiments to exams.
What I was trying to say, probably not that well, think Eric did a better job of it. Was that going to a grammar is not the be all and end all. Just felt that @MindlessDrugHoover post in response to @bluntphil was a little bit if people didn't go to a grammar they are idiots, as in poking fun at the Facebook page. If I interpreted it wrong I apologise, just seemed a bit of a snipe.
Chesham Technical High School main the 1970s. Think they dropped the technical bit of the name around the time I left & now it's a grammar school? Had many a battle with Dr Challenors at footie over the years.
Geoff Anthony was my PE teacher at the time, think he ended up marrying Miss Renshaw the girls PE teacher? Don't know if they are still married now though. 🤷♂️
Darvel's 1-0 win is one of the greatest upsets in the Scottish Cup. A tier 6 team defeating a top tier club, with a ground capacity of 2,200 and a 60 seater stand.
Poor Anthony Stewart is getting absolutely hammered on social media (and in real life). Really feel for the guy, especially when he’s never had this sort of pressure before in his career.
I'm hoping that he is being called out purely on football issues. Hardly the greatest time to be Aberdeen captain for sure but at least 10 others responsible too. I do wonder Anthony's quiet and calm demeanour goes against him when the backs are against the wall.

Is there a thread for people who didn’t pass the 12+?
It's called the Facebook fans page.

It's was a silly joke Holmer, don't take it so seriously.
You're quite correct, I shouldn't
😂

I didn't go to a grammar and I am definitely an idiot. I did laugh at @MindlessDrugHoover's post though.

Dan Scarr and Josh Umerah both along the goals today.
Anthony Stewart currently playing for Aberdeen in the cup, and trailing something called a Darvel.

'Super Darvel go ballistic the Dons are atrocious' - does not have quite the same ring as when Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Celtic

“Aberdeen are so atrocious” would scan better. But I don’t like it.
No it wouldn't. It would have two syllables too many
Incorrect @eric_plant.
Try “Super Darvil go ballistic, Aberdeen are so atrocious”. You know it makes sense !
Nope it doesn't fit the tune
…..only on The Gasroom!
How about ‘Super Darvil go ballistic, Aberdeen atrocious’
Scans well, but missing a verb surely?
How about…
’Super Darvil go ballistic, Dons are so atrocious’
To keep the tenses the same how about ‘were’ replacing ‘are’?
Wait, then it would need to be "went ballistic"
Yes agreed. I was going for cause/effect ie go leads to were. But let’s settle on ‘went’ once and for all ?
Great suggestions
As in ‘Man United went ballistic, Forest were atrocious.’
