Charlton doing us a big favour, beating Cheltenham (with a couple of minutes left) and keeping the gap at 7 points. Technically this was a 6 pointer, but I don't think anyone expects Charlton to really be a relegation candidate now they have Nathan Jones.
Speaking of relegation battles, 12th and 23rd in the Championship are separated by 6 points at the moment - and 16th and 23rd by 2 points. Never seen anything like it.
It gives them a way of writing a report to the FA / PGMOL in a language that they understand and also by using the correct Law of the Game terms. He'll also be able to explain and reason with the Forest board and/or players as to why things have happened and what's going on in the referee's mind. I wouldn't be at all surprised that the awareness of the incorrect drop ball procedure would have come straight from him and that would have gone down to the dugouts. If you notice, when that happened on MotD, no-one was aware and someone (Mark) must have pointed it out to them.
As one of the best referees in his day, he probably has direct contact line with the parties above and would be able to make it point across to them in the right manner. He doesn't support Forest, he is actually a Newcastle United fan so he would go into the meetings in a very balanced manner.
To be honest, I'm surprised that no other club have done this (maybe not as publicly as Forest have)
Ok, so there is some purpose to it - but I still don't see what benefit it has in the long run. There's nothing to stop clubs writing to PGMOL for explanations of decisions - why do they need someone internal?
it shouldn’t make any difference at all but, referees being (in most cases) human, it does make me wonder that knowing an acknowledged expert in a teams camp may make you reflect for 1/2 second longer before awarding that fairly debatable penalty to Man Utd (or otherwise similar bigger team).
Harry Kane scores a hat-trick to reach 30 league goals for the season as Bayern beat Mainz 8-1. Needs 12 more in the remaining nine games for the all-time Bundesliga record.

This Sheffield United team are absolutely horrendous. One of the worst of the PL era.
Arsenal are on one of the highest goal scoring spells in Premier league history though.
6-0 away at West Ham, 5-0 aways at Burnley and this tonight so far.
Think there was a 5-0 home win not long ago too and 4-1 v Newcastle too.
Played Liverpool off the park for a mere 3-1 too.
SU have already equalled the record for times conceding 5+ in a single season...
I'm surprised the 'San Marino shouldn't play England' lot aren't moaning that the Premiership should be split into two leagues of ten.

I'm not so sure @Shev long way to go
Last week they were 12/1 for a top half finish. Crazy odds with Jones at the helm. I stuck a few quid down.

That's a good point. It shouldn't be allowed imo.
Brilliant stat!
Southampton vs Preston postponed due to a massive fire on the industrial estate outside the ground. Oops!
Seems to be toxic smoke is the big issue now the fire is getting under control.
So Holt sacks John Coleman. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Sacked him via a WhatsApp message! I recommend reading the full statement on the Accrington website if you haven't already
Can't stand Andy Holt, but this is pretty entertaining. https://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/news/2024/march/statement-chairman-andy-holt-in-his-own-words-and-unedited/
Indeed, sounds like a right old s* ** show. A random owner and a complacent management team it looks like.
Fans seem unhappy with method but unsurprised it happened so I suppose that works out okay...if they get a good L2 replacement in.
A fine line between genius and utterly mentalism.
Jordan Rhodes sent off for violent conduct today so misses next 3 games. Guess who his first game back will be against.

it would be some feat to get that record and still not win the league...
It's Harry Kane - of course he won't win the league
@drcongo - hope Austin is going well, and it would be interesting to hear how the MLS game is later.
I noticed Bez celebrated his goal with a DR Congo flag. Clearly a Gasroomer.
The big surprise for me is that the atmosphere is fucking brilliant.
Glad to hear it! That is a nice looking ground, too!
They also seem to do a kind of extreme sweeper keeper - they’re in the centre circle when their team is attacking.
A much more Gasroom photo.
