Past and present. Richard Keogh. We were all very impressed with him when he came on loan as an 18 year old.
I wasn’t aware that he incurred injuries from a road traffic accident a few years ago. His limited number of appearances over the last two or three years were presumably a result of that.
Yes, of course I recall the story. As you say, it was plastered all over the Gasroom etc. I had for some reason (?senility) disassociated Richard Keogh from the story.
I think we were nearly all struggling to see what a player in his mid thirties with patchy performance numbers could bring to the table. Well, I thought his performance today was a revelation. Made every header and organised his fellow defenders in a way that has been missing in quite a few games.
He's a very good player, where he struggled in early games (weirdly for an experienced player) was demanding too much of the ball and trying to deal with everything, as he's slipped down the order a bit and the team has improved around him I'm sure he'll be valuable, even if he can't do 90 mins every week, off the field there was a lot of talk of him helping the likes of Joe Low in training.
I would say Keogh is a better player when the game / ball is coming to him. He's a very good reader of the game and when they attacked he was a rock. When we play around at the back I'm not sure he is so comfortable. In every team I like a mix. Roger Johnson was a great player next to Mike Williamson for example. Roger did the ugly stuff and Williamson was more.... calm?
As I said on the man of match thread, I reckon Forino, Keogh and Leahy must be one of the most diverse and best back threes in League One. With Harry Boyes steadily improving and the emergence of Jasper Pattenden (at last), things are starting to look extremely promising.
Really looking forward to the Portsmouth match on Tuesday evening.
The fact you’ve named those three and not included Taf and Low highlights how lucky we are to have such strength in depth. Those waiting on the wings are more than good enough, and then we’ve also got the likes of Grimmer and JJ. Blooms and his team really have recruited well this summer haven’t they, and now that the players are starting to gel, we are as good as any team in this league.

Dan Scarr on the scoresheet for Plymouth.
Mehmeti brought on in the 88th minute. Pearson out.
AAH2.0 on the scoresheet. First of the season?
Horgan tearing Cork a new one. I have no idea how the standard compares to L1, but he has scored two and made one today.
Impressive as he seems to be being marked by someone 12ft tall.
Difficult to compare standards but well done to him.
Forgot to say, Bruno Andrade is now at Chesham. Come off the bench during their 2-1 home defeat to Winchester at the weekend
And playing again tonight. Chesham on fire this season.
He scored their opener last night.
Chesham went 2-0 up in the 91st minute and managed to draw the game 2-2
Wow! Has an alarmingly familiar ring.
Keith Scott announced as the new Holmer Green manager. Pretty handy for him as I know he only lives a few hundred yards from the ground !
Doesn't seem that long ago where there was a genuine split on the gasroom about whether Scotty or Gaz would be the best bet for manager!
I believe Scotty was quite clear who he thought it should be...especially as the 'Torquay Season' went on. 😁

Good news.
Al Hamadi scored for AFC Wimbledon.
Bruno Andrade scored for Chesham in FA Cup.
Matt Phillips scores for WBA who lead 3-0 at Preston.
Al_Hamadi hat trick.
Says it all.
And how good was Keogh.
The whole incident was a huge story in the press. Worth a read if you genuinely missed the whole thing!
Also a thread or 2 thrashed over the detail on here for a month or so when he signed too!
You need to leave your nuclear bunker more often @micra
Scott Rendell scored the only goal of the game, to send AFC Totton through in the FA Cup against Berko.
Bryn Morris scores for Newport at Salford.

Well pleased.

Curtis Thompson into the starting lineup for Cheltenham tonight. Home against Fleetwood - surely a first goal incoming?
First goal, er, incoming. Curtis gives away a free kick on 18 mins for Fleetwood to score their first.
