@arnos_grove had (jokingly) suggested he might be on the replacement MOTD panel. Shilton has posted less-sympathetic views on immigration on Twitter, and publicly disagreed with Lineker before on Brexit.
He's always had a sense of humour. According to Eric Idle's book he hangs around informally with a lot of comedians so he cannot totally be the charmless, uncaring, dolt who knows nothing he is often portrayed as. Perhaps a dangerous royal in that he thinks he's cleverer than he is and can get things done.
I'm taking it as a good sign that the only person from my year at school now in a 'prominent' position is the head of football operations at Nottingham Forest.

Connor McNamara too.

Match of the Day sets fire to the BBC.
Just remember you saw it here first.
I watch motd because I love Micah Richards' infectious laughter. Couldn't give a single crap about the premier League.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but why "even"?
They were best mate room mates for years.

ps you’re wanted in the Gasroom playlist picks thread.
Ta, just picked that up and posted.
Fair does. Suspected i'd missed something, as it's not often you post anything with an obvious flaw in it!
The gambling industry covering itself in glory again. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65091257
"Three gambling firms owned by William Hill are to pay penalties of £19.2m for failing to protect consumers and weak anti-money laundering controls.
"The record penalty comes after the Gambling Commission found new customers were able to bet large sums over short periods without proper checks.
"In one case, a customer was allowed to open a new account and spend £23,000 in 20 minutes without any checks."
Scandalous.
Was that customer Ivan Toney?
In fairness the poor lad was quoted as saying he's looking forward to putting it all behind him and focusing on playing well in next week's 1-1 draw.
Hennig Wehn got a mention in King Charlie's speech in Berlin. Not sure they see him as Germany's Comedy Ambassador over there though...
Harry Enfield's Jürgen the German cruelly overlooked.
Video from Henning's Twitter.

There is a certain depth to Charlie I had not appreciated before.

I’m not a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist but anyone else have any concerns about the societal impacts of the charge for A.I.
Its a bit of a long video but when you have people talking about double exponential increases in capability 😮

@MorrisItal2 Finally my area of expertise comes up on the Gasroom. Yes, be afraid, be very afraid.
I think I'm too old to be worried about being replaced so can it score direct from corners?
Or don’t look up.
I didn't realise odious turd Dominic Raab went to Dr Challoner's. Was anyone here unfortunate enough to go to school with him?
Not Raab but almost as odious Greg Hands (current Tory Party chair and MP for Kensington) was in my year at Challoner's. We weren't friends.
Ah yeah, his name came up in a Twitter discussion I just stumbled upon. Grammar schools... (I went to one too).
And John Mousinho apparently
Thankfully as I left Challoner's in 1978 I missed both Raab & Hands
A fair few of my year either ended up doing time or joining the clergy not sure what that say's about us...
A fair few of my year either ended up joining the clergy then doing time, not sure what that say's about us...
Wouldn't this be more accurate. !!

@ChasHarps it could well be
Given I conciously lost touch with those who got banged up & as an atheist had no time for the Sky Pilots I do not know what became of most of them.
The only person from my year at school who’s now in a prominent position is the head of a well known Wycombe Wanderers message board.
Didn't realise you and @micra were the same age? Had you a few years younger.
