I know this is all very basic - I'm in a hurry - but McCleary hasn't been nearly as poor this season as people have made out, just below his previous exceedingly high standards. On reflection, I'd offer him another year.
Very interesting stats - on Obita too. I actually prefer Obita as an attacker, and would be find keeping him for that purpose with a different LB behind.
I'm not sure why people get so defensive and offended, he's probably one of our highest earners and past the midway point of the season has contributed to 6 goals! Poor stats, very simple.
It's actually mental you get thumbs down for saying a former Premier league striker has 4 goals this season and its February 😵💫.. If I performed like that at work I'd be pumped.
He has been below his best, but he's not always had much to work with. We need to improve our service to him, especially with Mehmeti now gone - we've not crossed the ball as much this season, not that we were putting loads (or the right kind) of crosses in last season. Plus, as @Malone has pointed out, he's had a bit of an injury-disrupted season.
Vokes last season: 3.2 shots/90, 0.96 chances created/90
Vokes this season: 2.73 shots/90, 1.28 chances created/90
On the face of it, broadly similar levels of attacking involvement. His average chance quality has gone down very slightly and, save for one or two relative sitters (the one v MK springs to mind), he's been fine finishing-wise. I'd say the biggest thing is he's not getting as many chances, and that's largely down to our (lack of) service into him - we've been a lot less creative this season compared to last, and now we've lost one of our chief creators.
Vokes is certainly one of those players who takes quite a while to get full fitness back, a bit like Thompson.
A mix of that, our woeful first 6 or so weeks, loads more injuries throughout the squad and the team not flying like last season are all pretty clear context aren't they.

I mean, you wrote off our play off chances after the Bolton away game didn't you?
Chances created per 90 (min. 10 90s):

I did. Maybe I’m a modern day Nostradamus after all.
You would think so. I’m not convinced the club has much value to any potential buyers without the stadium however.
This is why I suspect Pete Couhig had his little hissy fit last year and took his ball home.

I might dig a bit deeper into chance quality, as I suspect Anis ranked very high there. I'll probably veer away from expected assists, though 😉
If we we're going to play with 10 men for the rest of the season I'd agree we've got no chance, opportunity knocks for Chem and the others.
McCleary's a joy to watch, it beggars belief people wouldn't want him to stay.
Thankfully, I'm pretty sure Gaz will want him to stay
No. We don't all mix in that sort of scene.😀
Nor do I, but it was literally recorded and tweeted - made us look pretty amateurish in hindsight
He certainly got close to all the action didn't he!
Which made the sudden disappeared incredibly noticeable.
A huge contrast to the man different "execs" and assorted titles that you read the initial welcome, but barely notice them.
McCleary will almost certainly stay. I’d definitely be pleased with that. Even for the dressing room alone. Great professional.
Vokes stats really aren't good enough.
I think there is probably a significant caveat based on chance creation this season, but @ReturnToSenda would know better as the resident stat guru.
It is interesting how inside club gossip has moved from Marlow's bistros to the Falcon. Sign of the times.
Your posts really aren't good enough
They were pretty good last year weren't they?
It's probably fair to say last year was a lot less disrupted too, with his injury spells, and the mess that was the first 6 or so weeks of the season.
They were good last season, this season poor.

Try and dress it up how you feel....
It's simple if you completely ignore context, yeah.
I'm intrigued, go on @ReturnToSenda....
It's actually mental you get thumbs down for saying a former Premier league striker has 4 goals this season and its February 😵💫.. If I performed like that at work I'd be pumped.
That must mean something different to what I'm thinking
If not, you really need to get out of that job

I'm no @ReturnToSenda for the stats, but the below is a starter for some obvious context.
This season after 27 games, Wycombe have scored 35 goals, and sit in 8th.
Last year after 27th games Wycombe had scored 44 and sat TOP.

So clearly the team was firing a lot stronger last year as a whole.
Not to mention Vokesy having a lot more injury niggles this season.
(Strangely, game 27 of both seasons was a home win against Oxford,...and horribly last year it triggered a SEVEN game run without a win!)
These sort of comparisons with normal work are silly though aren't they?
As chances are in whatever job you're doing, you don't have highly physical professionals purposely trying to stop you doing your job?

He had 3 or 4 disallowed over a few games earlier this season didn't he? Still not sure why on some of those.
There was that utterly ridiculous one v Morecambe. And possibly another in the same game? And I'm sure one in the game after too (Cambridge/Vale?).
Vokes is certainly one of those players who takes quite a while to get full fitness back, a bit like Thompson.

It was Cambridge, then Morecambe
Both should have been allowed
