This may be entirely dodgy memory but I’m sure that the London 5 a side tournament was televised (well the highlights) when we won it. I’m sure I watched it late evening on ITV not knowing we’d won
I never said it was the last one but 1995 was, which we also won. My earlier answer to LX1 stated I went to both 5-a-side competitions (and the Lionel Richie game). It hasn't been played since - we are the current Champions.
The reported £10k a week in return for the modest goal return, its a no for me. If he is pragmatic and enjoys playing at Wycombe we might be able to offer him something that suits both parties for next season. Against a deficit of £3million to have one player responsible for £500k of cost is no longer doable, if it ever was.
I'm lost on the finances in all fairness. When you consider the incomings in the past 3 years and where we are today somethings never seem to add up. We are as poor as we were under the trust. We've had some fun but jeeeez
I agree. If someone offered me your full list as definites, I would happily take my chances with everything else (though we might have a lot of moves to make in defence).
You would like to think there is some sort of plan to bring some reassurance to supporters who have been broken by the departure of our best and most influential player.
His loss has emphatically ended any realistic play-off aspirations for this season. Supporters need hope that next season might be better.
That sense of hopefulness might perhaps been achieved with a plan for regular announcements this month. Each stating that our remaining key players have signed new deals.
I don’t believe our owners have any interest whatsoever in providing any such reassurance and the only plan they’re working on right now is to get out.
You only need to look at his goal involvements this season, never mind the intangibles, to see how fundamental he has been to our season. A quick glance at the league table is also rather telling. We've more chance of reaching Narnia.
However, if you feel the need to believe we are still in contention, don't let me sway you. I’m no Nostradamus.

If we have Josh Scowen in the team we can compete with any other club at this level.
For me he is the priority to try and extend.

He's fully proved his ability in my eyes, he just has to prove he's not injury prone.

He doesn't know the benefit either
We'd be absolutely idiotic to release Vokes if we have the funds to keep him, but I fear that's a huge 'if' with the state of our finances.
Or we hope that his wage demands have dropped and he stays for the love of Wycombe. He wouldn't be the first...
At his age, there is definitely some hope for the latter if he is enjoying his football and does not want the upheaval.
I still can't believe that we have seen Sam Vokes play for us, sometimes. It is incredible when you take a step back.
Probably comfortably a millionaire already, loving his time in leafy bucks, pad in Marlow.
Definitely wouldn't rule it out as long as there's not a crazily better offer out there.

Was definitely televised, I remember watching them

Yes I remember going - many years ago

That said was there a non league / Isthmian league equivalent? Cos I seem to remember it being in the 80s when i went?
Reported where?
Max
Grimmer
Scowen
Thompson
Wheeler
Freeman
If we're a league 1 team next season (seems highly likely) these are the players we must keep and build around.
Add Forino, Gape (If he's hasn't completely dissolved by then), Wing and Hanlan and we've got a great base to build with.
Or the benefit.

Why didn’t Milton Keynes play I wonder?
I reckon several players are already signed on longer term but the club just don't want to tell us.
There must be some sort of plans in place, as you can't have a mere 5 or so players in contract (or however few it was?)
Plans?

Remember the time a hammered Pete Couhig leaked news of Anthony Stewart's new contract to a fan in the Falcon?
Come on. We aren’t out of playoff contention - even after losing Mehmeti.

Most goals + assists this season:
Would the club not be more valuable / easier to sell with key players signed up (as long as the contracts were value for money?)
