I was lucky enough to see Messi play. Barcelona vs Osasuna about ten years ago. He scored a hat trick, had two or three assists and hit the woodwork twice. 8-0 the final score and it was both a masterclass and one of the dullest games I have ever watched. Osasuna were like the blokes the Harlem Globetrotters play against and it wouldn't have looked out of place if Messi had thrown a bucket of confetti over their manager.
Still hope he wins today though so I can bore strangers in pubs with the time I saw the greatest of them all.
oh dear, from the first minute the niggle, the diving, the cheating, the constant chatter in the ref's ear started & culminated in the 23rd minute with the softest penalty I've seen in a long time being awarded to Argentina & converted by Messi.
It just seems like rather than being pissed off about the soft penalty, the French went into gallic shrug & sulk mode.
Totally understand why Deschamp has hoiked Dembele off as he has been totally awful & not at the races, little odder that he has taken Giroud off at the same time, as he was the only one offering any threat up front.
