Tbf it's not just the gasroom, a lot of Blackburn fans had Ainsworth down as favourite as well, but you're right, you do actually wonder if he's on the owners radar at all
GA is not going anywhere, and I also don't see QPR offering him the job anyway. If he ever gets offered the job it would be with them midtable or lower and looking to build a new culture. With the PL challenge going on I am expecting them to try and find someone with that experience level.
Apparently, according to Talk Sport, Beale is Wolves’s preferred choice and he wants the job. No doubt rumours about Ainsworth will start , if Beale takes it.
Would be very interesting to ever hear for certain the exact status of the jobs and how close Gaz came to leaving.
My pal supports a certain other champ club, not QPR/Rotherham/Blackburn/Sunderland and said Gaz told him personally that he'd agreed to sign for them, but the club pulled the plug last min! This was before we started the champ season too, so sounds very hard to believe, but apparently came from the horses mouth!
It’s been a while so I can disclose I think. I knew a partner of a former player’s - we shall call him XXX- family member. XXXs family member and their partner were very close to XxX.
The partner came to me and others and said “Get your house on Gaz to QPR, the players have all been told, Xxx just rang me.”
So solid did this seem that sums of money in the several hundreds were wagered and lost by a number of people who liked a flutter. I lost £45.
The partner swore it fell apart the day before signing - and then absented himself from those of us who suggested he might like to offer recompense.
A malicious wind up by partner or XXX himself, a clever move to short the market, Gaz a pen-stroke away from QPR or something in between. I guess we’ll never know - until Gaz writes his memoir. “From Torquay to Madrid: How little Wycombe grew up”
We'll certainly never know for 100%, but I'm told that Gaz himself said he had agreed to move to a championship club a stone's throw from where he lives, but they pulled the plug at the last minute.
Plus, "don't even ask about QPR".
The former part of this is the most interesting, as we all suspected the latter part.
Apparently it was actually the summer before our promotion season (not after promotion) . I didnt think the timing made sense on my original post, but thank goodness we didn't lose him then!
It certainly seemed like he might be going after 18/19. Weren't fans chanting "Gareth Ainsworth we want you to stay" at the end of the Fleetwood game? It seemed like a kind of open acknowledgement he might be out the door.

WTF???

It really is about time Blackburn Rovers found a manager isn’t it?
And they have - Jon Dahl Tomasson
Excellent. Now we can relax for the next 6-12 months!
Wow! You mean Gareth isn't going to QPR or Blackburn AGAIN?
Does make you wonder if he has interviewed before and failed perhaps?
No
He was allowed to speak to Sunderland a few seasons ago but it didn't go any further than that
Jesus. Sorry pal. You obviously know more than I do.
No. It makes me think he is never actually on the owners of those club's radar merely a subject of conjecture by the Gasroom. 😊

The biggest close season worry, is that horrible piece of work Hylton.
You can't sleep easy until that diving cheat, has got himself fixed up with a club, other than ours.
Wolves seeking to appoint QPR manager, Beale.
Another go around the merrygoround?
Having been a manager for only 15 games, you'd think Wolves would be better off going for Ainsworth.
(I will walk into the sea if this moderately funny quip actually becomes true)

Beale’s main qualification for the Wolves job is that he is fluent in Portuguese having coached in Brazil (San Paulo).
Every day a school day on the Gasroom.

He’s turned it down

Unconfirmed, but I've heard he's been offered the job of Prime Minister.....

I've always thought he was set to go to QPR at the end of the 18/19 season, but it fell apart at the last minute.
It's widely suspected that he was close to the Sunderland job at some point isn't it?
Didn't Neil Harman suggest in his book that Gaz was offered the Sunderland job but turned it down because Dobbo didn't want to go with him?
He's turned it down because it was only a three month contract keeping the seat warm for Keir Starmer!

Sounds like we’ve all got different parts of the same puzzle.
I think you would have utterly combusted if Gaz had gone to Reading 😂

I forget Reading exist most of the time. Like most of the people who live there.
