Mellor had a boot on his left ankle going up to his knee at the weekend. So not sure itās his groinā¦unless he now has another injury or itās another player who looks like Mellorā¦
Wycombe finished last season late because of play-offs, then this season was started early because of the World Cup. Therefore there has been a very reduced off season rest and recovery period. Do you not think that will have an impact on player fitness?
It is extremely rare for any club to have everyone fully fit, and not that unusual for a club to have a lot of injuries at one time.
Liverpool currently have seven players from their first team squad out injured. Does anyone think that their training methods or sports science team needs to be looked at?
The thought crossed my mind that the much more relaxed attitude of referees this season towards physical contact (in keeping with instructions) may be a factor.
Tjay is way too up for a physical game than his body can handle. He loves to get stuck in and draw fouls from opposition defenders but, especially after a bad meniscus tear not too long ago, he needs to cool on that part of his game so he doesn't permanently wreck his body.
news from the Wanderers TV previewā¦apparently all except Curtis Thompson are āin contentionā for Saturday.
Im guessing that that doesnāt necessarily mean we have a fully-fit squad and could just mean that the returnees are close enough to be worth a late fitness test, as opposed to written off from participation altogether, but encouraging news if true.

I've noticed a trend toward the slightly less positive from you @micra if that helps!šš
If we're all being cynical about the "edging closer" thing, what on earth are we going to be about the ones who there isn't any sort of progress on?
What has Thompson done for instance? It feels like he's out for months every season, and takes a heck of a long time to get fit again.
Wow, I didnāt realise that. As you say that could be his season over.
He said he HASN'T done that.

we seems to be the only team wire loads of Injuries , is it down to the training? sports science? needs to be looked at
My Oxford mate tells me they have a load of injuries too.

Yes maybe they do

I can guarantee you that there will be many a goon fan on the Liverpool forums doing exactly that.
Goon fan are the key words here!
Villaās keeper has done himself a mischief picking up a routine back pass. Shows how random and innocuous these things can be.
Has he? He's stayed on and looks to be ok.
Kaikai ācoming back quicklyā. Interesting.

Did it ever come out what Thompson has done?
Missed the end of last season, and now, out until the 2nd half at least? That's a pretty severe injury in the end.
Ssshhh!! Between you and me (and the friends sisters mate down the pub) Curtis has .... 'got a knock.'
Pretty sure I saw him in a boot at the MK play off match. Such bad luck for him
I didn't realise he's not been in the squad since the 5-5 v Cheltenham in Feb. Has to be something serious/complicated.
If it's an ACL, that can be 12 months' recovery after surgery in some cases (Freeman was out for nine months, wasn't he?)
About 8 years for me and still working on it! ;)
Either you had more extensive damage than just the ACL, the surgery hasn't gone as planned or you are an extreme example of a "slow recoverer"? š²
ACL, PCL and medial ligaments but more age and too much business travel during the initial recovery.
Iām beginning to come to terms with the fact at 47, my international career may be drawing to a close. ;)
Now that is a list mate. 3 out of 4 of the majors is in fact a very impressive achievement! š
Freeman and Thompson only had āknocksā then.
This is the latest injury situation, as far as I know, based on info made publicly available. Feel free to correct, etc...

David Wheeler - has missed the last five weeks with an unspecified injury (possibly Achilles) - no timescale on a return
D'Mani Mellor - has missed almost seven weeks with an unspecified injury (possibly knee) - "back soon" (source: BFP 29/09/2022)
Tjay de Barr - has missed almost eight weeks with an unspecified injury (possibly knee) - no timescale on a return
Brandon Hanlon - has missed nine weeks with an unspecified injury (possible abdominal surgery) - "back soon" (source: BFP 29/09/2022)
Curtis Thompson - has missed 32 weeks (over seven months) with an unspecified injury (possibly ACL ) - not expected back until 2023.
POTD, for me
