It is a tremendous phrase that I too had not heard. Might I cheekily suggest that @bluntphil uses it in commentary if possible as a tip of the hat to @micra, one of the Gasroom’s wisest voices. I shall add that I had never heard a wind turbine referred to as an energy windmill until Phil used the words in commentary recently. I was tickled by it and have shamelessly appropriated it.
As for injuries. Not overly fussed about return datws despite being a Grammar School boy (several quite unhappy years at Challoner’s in the 80s). That said if we have players on very long-term ones I can’t see how the other clubs don’t know and I think telling us allows for balancing hope with realism. If Vokes and Hanlan are out for certain until 2023 then my hope of playoffs becomes a realistic expectation of mid-table.
oh and Alex Neil leaving Sunderland is announced as I type. Shame for them, I thought he would do well for them this season. But At least we can crank up the rumour mill!

Did you start typing this a couple of days ago @Manboobs ?
Remember that time we were told a player was out with a cold and it turned out to be murder.
Simpler times.
my argument for releasing the info, and same with contract info is that whatever marginal gains you get from it are eroded when things get tricky and your end up having to spent time and effort explaining things over and over again. Or call the manager in on an AMA fans forum 20 mins before the start of a cup game (rather than in the dressing room ensuring everything and everyone is prep’d like normal), or BS rumours about players having arguments with the manager for going to Revs.
it’s just becomes a rod for peoples backs that is easily avoided.
Agreed, it's a great phrase - I will do my best. Before my son was born, I was reading a book a week to help boost my vocabulary, but these days I don't have the time or the ability to stay awake.
My main prose inhalation currently comes from the keyboard of our beloved @micra on here. Long may he reign.
Didn't realise GMac's booking on Sat was his third of the season already. Interestingly, the third time he's been booked three times in a spell of five games or fewer for Wycombe.
I thought the Scowen booking early on was obvious even though the player made a meal but then jumped up, but not sure I agreed with the rest of the card waving during the game. It was almost like he was trying to even things up here and there.
I thought GMac's was for kicking the ball away in frustration? In which case fully deserved in my opinion. (Admittedly it may have been for openly questioning the ref's decision (and possible parentage) that led to his frustration in the first place...
According to my Charlton mate (who thought we were the best footballing side he’d seen this season and was crapping himself when 6 minutes added time was announced) the Charlton manager said the referee spoilt the game for both sides.
I didnt think the officials were too bad, except for those two goalkick/corner decisions that were bizarre just thought some of the cards looked harsh.
The Mawson card for dissent and GMac for kicking the ball away were in keeping with other cards he gave out to Charlton players, so can't complain on either count.
In that respect I thought the ref was okay - and at least consistent.
However, the goal kicks awarded to Charlton 1st half which should have been Wycombe corners, especially the second one, were truly terrible.

@micra & @Manboobs - I am not surprised you have not heard the pogo stick expression before...I made it up this morning!

I would ditch that theory. Others might think poorly of you.
I'm a pleb who went to a grammar school, so I'm not quite sure where I fit in.

Don't think PNE will be dubbed the entertainers this season.
Preston's stats after 6 games. 1 goal scored, none conceded. Five, 0-0 draws.
And you would have had to travel a few hundred miles to as a PNE fan, to Luton, arguably the most unpleasant away day, to witness the solitary goal.
iceberg ahoy! I had no idea until my sky sports app announced it to me as I was tapping away on the phone.
Well it’s a good one.
I’m never going to live down that galvanised iron/steel/tin bath story from 67 years ago ! They seem somewhat smoother these days.

Thought it was Sebastian Payne from the Financial Times!
Decent though, real depth of knowledge
On a pre-season piece for WTV, Gabriel had Phil believing he was a Slough Town fan. A good wind up while it lasted!
Caught up with this late last night. Never felt so honoured in all my born days! Speechless.

Obviously highly committed. Or perhaps should be.

He was getting a bit of lip off the Charlton players. I think GMac's was also for dissent?
And the Mawson one seemed soft was that dissent?
GMac and Alfie were for backchat it seemed.
Barring a couple of goal kick/corner decisions, I thought the ref had a decent game. He let a lot go that would have been fouls last season.
He certainly did, especially in the first half and I thought we benefited more than Charlton did.

Not sure tbh
GMac kicked the ball away and got booked. With the ref's performance on Saturday no-one will know if the two were linked.
I thought Mawson was booked for a foul but it was reported during the game as dissent. Not sure how they could know.
Wasn't the whole officiating crew on Saturday awful. The level of dissent was understandable.
That was my understanding too.
According to my Charlton mate (who thought we were the best footballing side he’d seen this season and was crapping himself when 6 minutes added time was announced) the Charlton manager said the referee spoilt the game for both sides.
For what it's worth (nothing), I thought the referee was very poor on Saturday.
Mental note. David Rock.
