And of course experienced GKs also make mistakes, but they don't tend to get the basics wrong. As I keep saying, we can 'get behind' Tyla and assess his performances objectively / realise that we need a better goalkeeper.
Random thought..... Do you think that if we knew that Stockdale only planned to stay for last season then move on, we would have kept hold of allsop if he had plans to stay with us more long term?
Lets not forget that even the most secure keepers can have the odd mistake in them. Just look back to the Play-off Final and you find your first case. Dickinson has played in every game throughout the pre-season (except for the game after his injury at Watford) and he'll have a higher understanding with the squad than someone being drafted in as an "emergency" sub. So far, he is slightly raw in ability but I don't believe he hasn't done anything wrong to cause him to be dropped. Lets just get behind him and support him as he could develop into a really useful player for us.
Absolute rubbish, if Tyla let in a goal from 60 yards you would be jumping up and down like a demented chicken demanding that he never plays for us again. A keeper is clearly out of position to be lobbed from 60 yards.
Sorry but you are the one talking rubbish. Most goalkeeping coaches want their goalkeeper to be out on the edge of the box when the ball is in the opponents half to act as a sweeper. They save for more goals that way than get beaten by a ‘ once in a lifetime lob’. Fact.
Not really applicable to the way West Brom play, but they have to be there to be involved in build-up too. There is no advantage to your goalkeeper hanging back inside the box when you have possession in the opposition half. Sarr's goal was a moment of genius that wouldn't ordinarily come off and most players wouldn't even have the audacity to attempt.
He's gambled on waiting for a target, might even have an agreed date for all we know, he's done that because he is happy with his young replacement who so far has played very well and gained experience. Yesterday showed some glimpses of a future for this club to develope players into something that we couldn't ever hope to buy.
It comes down to this, If it's unnaceptable what would you suggest those above did about it? Sack straight away? official warning, or butt out, piddle off and let the man do his job? I'd suggest the latter, others may disagree.
We don't really know what he's done - but we do know that we started the season without replacing a quality League One goalkeeper, and that's not good enough if our ambitions are what they're said to be. I share @frequentstander's bemusement at how ok people seem to be with that.
Except we do because he's told us in several interviews.
Maybe it's just us old gits remembering when we've had crap goalies for entire seasons and longer but Tyla is seemingly doing a great job so no harm done, He got really good support last night and repaid us with a great performance. If it drags on a few weeks more or past the deadline that's not ideal but as long as he's not causing problems some of us won't see it as the big issue that others clearly do.
@ReturnToSenda in my opinion Dickenson was not at fault for any of the goals allowed in the Bolton game, I do think he made a hash of the one that was disallowed & feel we got away with one there.
On a more general note having played in goal at Sunday League level football & National League level hockey in my youth I very much am of the opinion that the selected keeper holds onto his position until he is injured or makes a serious mistake; young Tyla has not done the latter & appears fit & healthy so...
I would also add, he seems to get more comfortable each game he plays and his distribution is likewise improving. Stocko is an incredibly high bar to match in terms of distribution; even in the Championship few if any keepers were/are his equal. We were seriously spoiled having Rocky then Stocko and ought to remember back to the pantheon of less than average keepers we have enjoyed over the years.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you criticise Dickinson for advancing too far from his goal when Bolton scored their second and yet now you’re saying there’s no point in keepers hanging back? You can’t have it both ways and my opinion, for what it’s worth, is that apart from some erratic kicking he has so far played well.
I am amazed so many are ok with the idea that so many are ok with the goalkeeper situation. No-one on here would, in an ideal world, have tipped Tyla to start as Number 1 but he has and so far it is working out. If they rated/rate Bishop as a great loan...how many quality keepers could GA and Dobbo keep hanging on as a possible back-up while the loan fiasco dragged on until they could be sure they would NOT be signing them? Read some papers, Man U recruitment and player retention is in turmoil. I can quite believe we've been stiffed and it is not our fault. The idea it is some dereliction of duty by the management team...and it IS a management team...is preposterous to me. Also people claiming Rob is making ridiculous claims and then getting upset because they think he is not backing up his ridiculous claims. Really? The season has started and so far, for me, is it not yet the ****ing disaster I keep reading about.

I can't even kick a ball 60 yards!
You are judging Tyla far too harshly because it fits your narrative.
He looks a really promising talent to me who'll only improve the more he plays (which this season will be the next couple of weeks at most)
I should hope not @mooneyman - at your age !
And of course experienced GKs also make mistakes, but they don't tend to get the basics wrong. As I keep saying, we can 'get behind' Tyla and assess his performances objectively / realise that we need a better goalkeeper.
It was just a ridiculous goal, looks embarrassing but not a mistake unless the GK is halfway up the pitch himself!
Random thought..... Do you think that if we knew that Stockdale only planned to stay for last season then move on, we would have kept hold of allsop if he had plans to stay with us more long term?
Retrospective hypotheticals seem a bit pointless to me.
They are bank rolled by the ex-players of Man Utd
Exactly. Money doesn’t always talk when it comes to football, as we know all too well.
I assume you mean ex players of Manchester United (as opposed to the ex players of Manchester United which would be rather greedy).

Thank you for correcting me @micra
Not correcting. Just smiling to myself at how wealthy Salford would be if all the ex players were backing them.
You’ve made me feel bad.
We can't exactly drop him at the moment anyway!

Lol
It's a shame, it's hardly unnaceptable.

I think it is, given the ample time we had to get Stocko's replacement sorted for the start of the season. It makes us look small-time.
If it's "unacceptable" and you literally can't accept it, what are you going to do about it?
He's gambled on waiting for a target, might even have an agreed date for all we know, he's done that because he is happy with his young replacement who so far has played very well and gained experience. Crowdfund Nathan Bishop myself

The two situations are not remotely comparable and you know it
I think you've slightly overrated Stocko / underrated a lot of Champo goalkeepers there!
