I guess parent club prerogative is what it is, but they already have Heaton as backup, plus another 2 reserve GKs in addition to Bishop - admittedly out of those, Bishop looks like the most experienced.
I understand that Cheltenham were also after Kovar on loan but ducked out of it after getting a similarly non-commital response from Manyoo as to when he may be able to join.
Whatever bizarro Manc reasons there are for delaying, and whatever comes to pass, I am sure the club will make the best decision it can under the circumstances and we will carry on going to the matches.
I won't be tearing up my season ticket and throwing it at the pitch if Tyla is number one for a bit and Grimmer stays as CB.
Fulham have just signed Bernd Leno from Arsenal and have a number 2 in Marek Rodak who is the Slovakian Number 1 and was the Number 1 goalkeeper for Fulham last year.
They also have an experienced third keeper in Paulo Gazzaniga who looks like he has no hope of playing this season. He's Argentinian but has lived in the UK since joining Gillingham in 2011. He's 30, 6ft 5 and has played once for Argentina as a sub in a friendly against Mexico.
Not sure if he would pass the Wycombe all round good guy test but he is also out of contract in 2023 and might fancy playing at a club where he is Number 1. Looking at his career in England he's never played a full season as the Number 1 keeper at any club and only appeared in 83 League games in 11 years.
Although they can run their club however they like, the level of stock-piling at Man Utd is crazy. Bishop isn’t getting anywhere near the first team this season, so they seem to be keeping him purely to use him as a training ground ‘keeper.
He must be getting pretty frustrated with all of this as well now.
They played with only two senior registered keepers last season and Marco Silva may not even name him in the squad if he chooses to register only two keepers again. He's also been on loan at a Spanish Second Division club playing in front of 7-8000 every week when he was at Spurs.
I am sure he will be thinking he does not want to spend a whole season stuck in the reserves or go on loan abroad when he has a young family. He's in his thirties now and I am sure will be looking to make his mark in the game rather than playing second or third fiddle.
Not nearly as crazy as Chelsea who last season had 41 players out on loan but were able to put out a full first team squad, a full U23 in PL2 plus U21/U20/U19s in their relevant leagues etc.
But that’s not how the loan system works. The club wanting the loanee negotiates with his parent club over paying a percentage of the player’s wages and the agreed amount is split between the two clubs.
I’m not sure about that Malone. Anyone coming to us on loan can’t be recalled so won’t be able to go back until his own club until January at the earliest.
Most PL and Champ clubs will want to have three keepers on their books and available for selection. So that may leave us looking at 4th choice keepers (or possibly 3rd choice keepers if they have the additional back-up and value them getting more game time over the risk of their 4th choice keeper having to step up and fill the gap).
That doesn’t leave us with loads and loads of options. Particularly as some of those keepers that might have been available are already fixed up, such as Reading’s Luke Southwood going to Cheltenham.
Its not an easy situation, which may be why they’ll opt to hang on for Bishop.
Apparently Dean Henderson came back from his Sheffield United loan and was told he was going to be Number 1 by Solskaer...but only made a handful of Cup appearances. Demanded a loan and obviously did not want to hear what the new bloke had to say. Be a pain if Bishop ends up warming the ManU bench in Cups rather than winning us promotion.
I’d be somewhat wary about taking anything in the Bucks Free Press as gospel but of course a club as responsibly owned and managed as Wycombe Wanderers is not going to pay ‘over the odds’ (to use such a meaningless phrase).

Seen it suggested in the media that Man United are now unwilling to let Bishop go until they’ve signed (yet) another goalkeeper.
Lets hope we’ve some other irons in the fire as this is looking less and less likely to be resolved quickly.

The lists are finalised after / on transfer deadline day so we might have a little bit of a wait to find out whats going on
Who's the reserve GK other than Kovar?
So many assumptions that this was the only thing we tried.
Looks like we're going into our first proper test of the season without a Stocko replacement, then. Madness, whatever the reasons.
I'm legally obliged to state that this is not a personal attack on Tyla Dickinson.

And from Nottingham...😃

No chance Gazzaniga drops to League One. They need three GKs anyway.
No chance either Rodak or Gazz drop to league 1, both would easily find a championship club if allowed to leave

I say we keep with Tyla and stay patient for Bishop. Tyla is raw and largely untested but until he messes up…
Not a chance, he'll be on at least double our highest earner for starters
Then we would have no chance with Manchester United's third choice keeper either.

If we're being honest, there must be an absolute stack of keepers we could bring in.
There must be 200 or more keepers at clubs in leagues above us, with less than a quarter having a chance of a regular game.
Exactly, which is why we might be able to sign Bishop or Gazzaniga if circumstances and money allows.

The stockpiling needs to be acted on. Clubs should have a max number of loaned players allowed, and a total squad size cap across all age levels.
So many league standard players get world class facilities but no game time, rotting in U23 leagues.

Bishop was on loan at league 2 Mansfield last year and is likely still on his first Pro contact, Gazzaniga is a senior pro with international call ups

Of course we’re proud and realistic.
Rob Couhig’s philosophy from day one was to make the club sustainable. That doesn’t rule out being ambitious, but it does mean spending wisely.
In fairness, quotes from other people are one of the few things they do get right
