Sunday match reports. It doesn't say where the Portsmouth match was played, it's not Burnham or Flackwell. One of the Firsts's goals was scored by the experienced Sam Jackson, who has come out of her brief retirement to sign on again.
It's good to see, in the match report, that Karen Adams is funding new video technology, in memory of the late Dave Roberton, so the Chairgirls's matches can be filmed for analysis and highlights.
Interest in the women's game must be at an all-time high at the moment.
Wouldn't it be great if we were to capitalise on it and announce some Chairgirls fixtures to be played at Adams Park this season, including the first of the season?
Moments like this don't last forever and don't come around very often. They need to be grasped while they are there.
I've been banging that drum for a long time. The best thing would be to have some Saturday double headers, women's team match followed by a men's team match - all day sporting event like the Couhigs are used to from over there.
The opening day's fixtures have been released for the Southern Region Women's FL Premier Division, and the Firsts travel to Winchester City Flyers on Sunday 4 September.
The Premier Division has been reduced from nine to eight teams this season, the others being Ascot United, Abingdon Town, Abingdon United, Bournemouth Sports, Eastleigh and Oxford City. Below, there are now two feeder divisions, North and South, each with eight teams.
In the FA Cup, the Firsts have been drawn at home on 2 October in the Second Qualifying Round, to the winners of Buckingham United v Sport London e Benfica. The 2QR winners take home £3000, the losers £750, up from £450/£115 last season. The FA have increased the prize fund to £3 million, up from around £400,000 last season, with a big increase for the early rounds.
It would @HolmerBlue, the increase in prize money is huge and just what the lower level clubs need. I imagine these clubs have had a lot of interest in recent weeks from budding footballers, new teams and extra coaching all costs money.
The Chairgirls beat Sport London e Benfica 3-0 in the 2QR last season. They play Buckingham United on 11 September.
The Chairgirls did well to be drawing 1-1 at half-time. The Cobblers were always going to be a hard test after they won the East Midlands Regional League last season, and have been promoted to the National League Division One Midlands.
