Its interesting what has happened with Roger Johnson at Bromley. It's believed that he left by "mutual consent" however there was a very big cloud hanging over that situation
He always had that impression about him that he could flip on a club or manager very quickly in his Wycombe Days
I thought he was as committed a youth prospect as you get.
And despite Tony Adams' hilarious attempts to ruin him, by playing him as a left back or even forward (!), he went on to have some good seasons in the championship and premier league.
I even remember Johnson saying in the press once, "i know i'll never play in the premier league", but I'd put that down to his morale being low due to Adams' treatment of him.
I certainly recall Liverpool fans moaning that they were getting rid of their most promising youth talents when Sterling joined Man Citeh so the rules are largely fluid as to 'he's one of own'.
Def QPR youth team, it's for people to decide how they want to classify but there's still time for players to go off the rails so some credit shared probably
I think he only played two home games - v Stevenage when Brownie got subbed off in his farewell game, and v Scunthorpe after Allsop got sent off - but he caused a few pairs of pants to be soiled away at Shrewsbury and Oxford...
I’m sorry @Malone but I really didn’t like that response, not least because I haven’t a clue what you’re on about! I simply asked if you’d watched the interview.
I wonder the other way too, if he’d spent one more season at Wycombe before going to Liverpool perhaps his career would have turned out a bit differently. But obviously no 15 year old is going to make that choice. Neither should they.

Bishop didn't leave Southend til he was 20!
I'm also as clueless as micra as to which Johnson this is?
If it’s Roger, hmmmm.

I think you're mistaking me for @ReturnToSenda son.
I try not to watch any of these interviews or pour over the sentimonies. I just like watching the games son.
You don't remember a guy called Roger Johnson playing for us?
Was with a couple of other teams first, but technically we had him at 15/16, and then he came through.
Similar with Ibe.
Is there an exact rulebook of when you can claim a player as being your own youth team product?
I don't recall that?

I remember Roger Johnson, but I thought you were getting at players leaving us so young they were 'produced' elsewhere
I guess you can pretty much claim a player as your product if you sign them before they've turned pro?
If you pick up a player at 15 he’s pretty obviously a product of your youth system, regardless of where he was before that.

Looks like Blackman is going to Port Vale, so that’s one potential option gone. Hopefully when United return from overseas, we will announce Bishop.
Don’t tell our glass completely empty poster that Blackman has gone elsewhere.
one that got away. hope GA knows what he is doing
Am I the only one who's neutral about Blackman? A great 'keeper, but some seem to deify him.
I hadn't realised Ibe had signed for Wycombe at 12.
I wonder if it'd have been different if he came to Wycombe at 15 after years elsewhere, was here 2months and then went to Liverpool.
We don't need an option though, keeper has been wrapped up?
I like the Harry Kane snap in an Arsenal kit as a youngster"
"Arry Ka-aane, eee's one of our own...except when we hated him a bit when he tried to go to City".
In cotton wool for the flight home?
Hopefully the calculated risk of not getting your intended 1st choice "In the building" until 3 days before the first game doesn't backfire!
Otherwise Gaz will have a lot of time on the phone in those last few days.
Unless anyone really thinks any of the development team keepers will ever get near it?
Nah, I'm the same. Had a decent season with us, but when we played against him since then he was poor.
All of our keepers loan and permanent have been pretty good since GA came in. Looking forward to seeing Bishop in action.
I liked him, but then he did that goal kick at Spurs and that's what I'll always think about when he's mentioned
I guess you never saw Yves Ma-Kalambay play?
Ha ha. I was thinking of main/first choice but I think I saw him at AP but only once....is my mind playing tricks? Did he play many home League games?

Hot, isn’t it.
Aha....both games we seem to have lost from winning positions...I see your point.
