To be honest, if it means rebuilding sensibly over making silly signing to get us in the Championship before our time, I will take that.
Let's be real, we have overachieved for 3 seasons, it can't carry on forever. Now might be a sensible time to take a step back and make a plan for our ageing squad.
I'm sad to see him go.... Excellent keeper and excellent bloke. However under his circumstances I totally understand and accept his decision.
However.... (Don't jump on me).... He is an aging keeper and not immune to the odd embarrassing mistake. Not saying others are not, and definitely not aiming personal digs at him, as he has been awesome for us .
But I'm not too concerned about his dioarture.... We will find a capable replacement.
Sad to see Stocko go but I would assume the management team would have been well aware of the chances of this happening and have planned accordingly. Good luck DS!. I will not boo when he returns.
It's a begrudging cheerio from me. Only because he has been immense for us both on and off the field. I will definitely be applauding him if/when he returns to AP.
Agreed, he was such a pleasure to watch as a Wycombe player. It might have ended in a slightly awkward fashion, but no reason to abuse him in the way that some fans did. He seemed genuinely surprised and upset by it too.
100% agree with you @Alexo. He was an excellent squad member for the club, looked like he supported those around as well as lead by example. The only thing against him was his age, but as you've said, I think it's time that we look for a young-ish keeper that we can grow and nurture into a player that becomes a legend (Like Stocko or Taylor). I bet there are plenty of young keepers being released by those in the Premier League this season that we can use to develop their game and to lower the squad's average age at the same point!
I just hope this is the only major departure this season. There are still big question marks over Stewart & JJ and their contract discussions at the moment. If both of those leave, we could have a very different & inexperienced back 5 next season......
I know it’s still very early but agree would like some news about JJ, Stewart , Wing and any new incomings.Surely positive news would help sell more season tickets and show how serious we were in mounting another promotion challenge.
If we have new players coming in, they will need to have time to bed in, get used to tactics and GA's management style. There are very few players at our level that can just slot in and hit the ground running.

Martin Taylor away at Millwall during the cup run for me. An absolutely extraordinary performance
No mention of the fans from Stocko. Strange
Post of the year, for me
Why would Stocko not boo Wycombe for not getting the contract he probably felt he deserved?
I bet he feels more hard done by than we do!
Maybe he'll do a separate one shortly?
Thanking the fans seems minimum textbook fare these days.
Really I think we should all have seen it coming from his Twitter header image.
He's technically still a Wycombe player until the end of the month according to Wednesdays press release.

It's a loss because he is a nice bloke. It's an emotional attachment.
Nobody said the same when Allsop left (who kept Stockdale out of the team by the way).
Wish Stocko well. Onto the next WWFC legend.
That's a classic heat map, I wonder if I can have one printed for my wall?
Great keeper up there with Martin Taylor. So many saves the penalty won and of course will never forget the penalty he scored!

I think there’s been other similar examples, but yes, Michael Simpson still stands out as one of the most inexplicable and embarrassing ones.

Had a quick look at the SW twitter page. Clip of him talking about how he saw loads of their fans with camera lights out and loved it.
Surprised he didn't go to Plymouth then!
Everything gonna be awwreeet etc
Thank you Stocko. A standing ovation from me on your return
I must admit I could do with a flashing yellow TRANSFER NEWS gif. After losing Stocko and knowing there is no Bayo next season I'm feeling a bit flat.
The treatment Stuart Beavon got from a sizeable minority of our goons up at Burton still stands out as one of the most embarrassing Wycombe moments.

Or two new players to replace them who are just as good? The permutations are endless.
Don't be so realistic
Anyone hoping to see Matt Ingram return will be disappointed to learn he's just signed a new 3-year deal at Hull.
