i sincerely hope Leahy won’t be replacing Pattenden, especially as it’s Harvie who is suspended.
With Pattenden looking the real deal it will be a difficult decision for Matt when Jack Grimmer recovers from injury. That set me wondering if Jack might have the ability to play in midfield in the scurrying ankle biting terrier role that is currently unoccupied.
If he weren’t club captain his absence would be less of an issue but he’s too good not to be involved on the pitch at some stage. Having said that, being club captain doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to wear the captain’s armband.
Of all the unintentional comments, some Shrewsbury fans saying we were not very good and they basically matched us is right up there. What do they think would have happened if we had a "good" day?
Massive task for Gaz. There is talk of new owners coming in next year, so maybe he’ll get some funds in time for the window. This a challenge he’ll relish, so good luck to him.
A brilliant thing to see is how we dealt with today. The classic narrative around it would say a team at the top of the league, who have drawn 2 and lost 1 in their last 3 might be nervy, heading to an away game against their old legend of a manager.
I had a quick scan of their forum and there are level-headed posters who have been quick to dampen any talk of it being a close game. The general mood is very downbeat and grounded in gritty realism.
We were really professional and got through that game easily without hitting our best form. Great finishing and as someone else said, we should have had a penalty.
Loving Lubala and Udoh. Really modern forwards with the ability to play anywhere across the front and even drop deeper to pick the ball up. Both blessed with pace and power, but also great first touch and imagination. Also prepared to put in a defensive shift for the team. MBs recruitment really shining here and deserves great praise.
Club legend over 10+ years hands over the reins to his apprentice and club legend of 20+ years. The local team go on to storm the league, reaching the dizzy heights of top of the table and sitting above Hollywood and NFL funding in the process. Am I dreaming or has the Stella Artois gone to my head?
It won’t be many more wins before even the grumpiest of us will have to face the prospect of automatic promotion. Jan Feb and March are typically much tougher months of course.
This is your latest public service announcement to say that even a point-per-game from here on out (relegation form) would get us to 70 points and close to the fringes of the playoffs.
I don't think it has been meant as a personal attack. Bear in mind last season we went from a relegation battle to 10th, whereas this season we are top, with a preferred midfield of Scowen, Morley and Humphreys. Players like Leahy and Butcher are not going to look quite as good with the step up in class and league position. Mix in some missed penalties and poor set pieces, and it made Luke probably look much worse than he actually is.
I do wish GA had gone for a L2 club that were not particularly relegation threatened (I know you don't have a choice in offers, but still). Shrewsbury are playing for him but clearly don't have the horses. Now he is a year behind on a L2 rebuild, even if they keep him in charge. I know there are those who would think he can still do it, but 10 points to safety in a strong L1 (where there won't be many relegation six pointers because of the overall quality) is already a Carlisle-type ask, unfortunately.
I hate the thought of him being labelled a "one club manager" who could only do it with us, because I think he could replicate the feat in the right environment for sure. The Covid-shortened season and PPG controversy has unfairly taken away (in the eyes of others) from what was a stupendous crowning achievement with us. You don't do what he did without being a superb manager.
Some people just aren't happy unless they are moaning, he is behind the awesome top 3 in centre mid, unbelievable loanees and an equally unlikely huge step up from our best player anyway, and he's been a bit sloppy at times but any suggestion he shouldn't play when needed or isn't a great member of the squad is just a bit silly, captain, can see him having the right words with people when needed, and if he can slot in at left back to cover then great, shame he can't play two positions next week.
And while he could get them going next season if they went down, it'd feel like he'd been a fair part of the relegation and it's a negative before the chance to put it right.
Another highly professional performance. Now 13 points clear of Barnsley in 7th. Playoffs minimum requirement from here? What an amazing season so far.
The Shrews fans I've seen are fairly resigned to going down, and are looking to him to repeat what he did for us in L2. So I don't think there'll be much blame

Sam is great, came through Wycombe Sound/Wycombe Hospital Radio like Phil, me and many others. However, no one wants to hear me doing comms!

I wonder if there’s a chance that Sir Josh could be ready in time?
If anyone is interested in GA's view.

I found that quite hard to watch. I hope he turns it around.
It's when he says win 2 then you're only 4 points off safety that shows how exceptionally difficult it'll be there!
And with the goal difference they'd probably in effect be 5 off!
Where has all the negativity about Leahy come from? Football fans have short memories.
Last season, if it wasn't for Potts being POTS (I don't know the facts with regards to votes) but I'm sure Leahy would have won it.
Wasn't he our top scorer too? (Again, don't know the facts without looking them up)
He would walk into most League 1 teams and we are very lucky to have him. What an option to have from the bench or starting XI.
Much easier than some of the QPR interviews where he looked like he was about to stick his head in an oven.
Totally delusional. We had three tap ins with open goals. And should have had a penalty. Nonsense

To see us deal with that so calmly is wonderful
Presumably just their equivalent of a couple of our more "out there" fans, rather than any sort of common belief?

Interesting interview. Not surprisingly, he looks tired. A very tough gig.
Slight intrusion on this thread but so good I had to post it. Came up after the GA interview.

You worry too much.

Gaz and dobbo have half a season and a transfer window. A miracle is possible.
