I love my wife. I love my daughter. I love my family. But seeing that video of Gaz being so happy makes me realise that he has a place in my heart as well. What a man
Looking forward to Rob Couhig explaining his purchase by saying that Shrewsbury International Airport is nearer than Heathrow, so he did not have to do as much exhausting flying.
I must admit I was worried for GA, taking over the bottom club, but he has already shown what he is about. QPR should be saying "It's not you, it's me" about now.
He gets to keep the haka in the chamber for when they need another boost, too!
I worried about Gaz and Dobbo going to QPR but not when they went to Salop. I thought that was a perfect fit for their management style. I think they will give us all a problem this season...but if they keep unexpectedly beating our close competitors I will forgive them.
Just listened to his post match interview. He’s not changed at all, still heaps the praise on everyone but himself, still humble and generous and upbeat, but not too high (never too high, never too low). As @Rasputin said, GA will always have a special place in my heart
Pretty sure there will be spare room on the Indies coach for this one if anyone wants to go? I will be going, but it is going to feel weird seeing GA & Dobbo on the opposite side of the dugout. 🤷♂️
Whoops! Scrub round that. For some stupid reason thought you were referring to the playoffs! Even Ainsworth and Dobbo might struggle to get the Shrews into the playoffs this season.
Do you remember how we always lost to AFC Wimbledon or got a draw at best. Well, until the game when master tactican Matt Bloomfield marked Bayo and I think I remember we won 2 - 0. That piece of history turned out alright later though.
Then there was the much anticiipated game away to Blackburn in the Championship almost exactly four years ago when we lost 5 - 0. From the time I remember the team as being optimistically attack minded so I looked it up. Darius didn't get sent off until we were 0 - 3 down. I reckon there is a bit of evidence for a bit of sentiment in the selection / formation:
That (sort of) turned out alright in that we did beat them 1 - 0 at home towards the very end of the season.
I know Gareth is held with affection at many clubs - I bonded with Lincoln fan who travels from Hull whilst walking to the ground before the game on Saturday - this over the need for Shrewsbury to beat Birmingham, well in fact all teams to beat Birmingham and Wrexham and he reminded me that Gareth was a legend at Lincoln. So maybe there is some confirmation bias in my thinking.
Whatever, I reckon football gains from having Ainsworth back in charge of a club, so accomodation is booked in Shrewsbury and I will make sure I have a ticket early, just in case we sell out. Could be another game well worth the trip.
Oh god, flashbacks to hoofball with Kashket as the lone striker. I know we were missing both Bayo and Uche at the time, but it was a seriously tough watch.
I think it was Peter Murphy who dropped deep every time there was a Dons' goal kick or kick from hands, to sandwich Bayo between him and whoever the centre-back would have been (Pierre or Mawson, I guess). It worked a treat.
Reading this, are you suggesting the tactic of 1 in front of Bayo was suggested by Bloomfield? Or that he was the man physically in front of him? As I don't think either were the case, as @flymofrank confirms on Murphy for the latter.

I'm going to listen to 2 Kindsa Love by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. No reason.
Well done to GA & Dobbo, so glad you got a win in your first game at Shrewsbury today.
What a result that is for Gareth. I'm absolutely convinced he'll beat us in a few weeks time (sorry all)
At least we’ll know what to expect.
I’d love an opposition view from Phil on the Shrewsbury game
We can definitely handle ourselves physically, so will be an interesting game.
Just saw tickets are £25 and OWWSA travel is £33.
Fair play to the regular away fans!
Can imagine the joy on their faces when they beat QPR home and away next season.
Steady,,,,,I'm not sure they'll get promoted this season.
Like they've done under 13s for £1. Not everyone takes kids but might encourage some more to go.
20% possession and a win against stronger opposition. Sound familiar?

Or Pete turning up instantly moving the pashun to a new club.
Or Kevin turning up and starting to have a go of supporters of a club he'd not even heard of a year or 2 previously.

I just got a bit choked up at the thought of Bloomfield vs Ainsworth on the 14th December, it feels a bit gut wrenching to me. Am I being ridiculous?
It'll definitely be a nice moment, just be glad there's not a season's work depending on the outcome!

My guess is that Shrewsbury get a draw or win in December but we get a vital win in the home leg late in the season.
Twill be a very different Final to the one against Sunderland.

It might work for us.

Horgan? PTSD has only just subsided.
