I've been watching since we were in the Isthmian league playing the likes of Leatherhead and Tooting & Mitcham, and Stewarts performance at Wembley is one of, if not the best individual performances I can remember.
One of the strangest moments watching Wanderers. Naming bench warmers is one thing but bringing on one of the walking wounded who literally couldn’t run was bizarre. Felt sorry for the lad.
John Delaney at home to Enfield, Amateur Cup 1971, or away to Enfield later that year in the Isthmian League. Two superb headed goals in the first game, two penalties scored plus another goal on the rebound from his own parried third penalty, in the second game.
That West Brom replay that was mentioned earlier, Steve Thompson was the best player on the pitch by a mile, and that was against a very good West Brom side. What a player he was
One that always sticks in my mind is Tony Hemmings at home to an excellent Crewe side just after Scotty had gone to Swindon. We were all worried about who would replace his goals and for one afternoon at least Hemmo stepped up and pretty much single-handedly ripped Crewe apart.
@Commoner I remember that Betsy performance away at Grimsby. He was quite sensational that evening. Sell out home crowd and they gave Betsy a standing ovation as he walked off at the end. Had several of their fans stop me afterwards and compliment our team and in particular Betsy. In fact, didn't their fanzine name the Senda/Betsy partnership 'Benda' as the interaction between them was such a blur! That was also the evening Sergio Torres scored one of our great 'never' goals. A quite brilliant diving header at the end of a sublime move, only to be cruelly denied by an offside flag raised in error!
Was one of the best atmospheres I've been to for an away game - top of the table clash. Brilliant game of football against a very good Grimsby side. Senda and Betsy were both excellent that night but Betsy, as you say, was sensational!
Was that the Friday night game? When we scored my son leaped up from a sitting position and jumped clean over the seat in front. An excellent atmosphere that night as you say.
absolutely. I would never deny that. But the teamwork, unselfishness and general telepathy involved in his first goal was just wonderful. A nice argument to be able to have.
That was definitely one of my favourite all-time games. If I remember correctly (admittedly unlikely) part of the reason the ground was so packed was that Grimsby were selling tickets for an FA Cup tie (Tottenham?) so they were on the up and the atmosphere was brilliant.
But the football we played that night was sensational, arguably the peak Gormania performance (that I witnessed anyway). I remember sitting in the car driving out of Cleethorpes listening to the local radio and everyone came on to praise our performance as one of the best they had seen

Top 5 individual performances v top 5 team performances
How old are you and how many years supporting?
The comeback against West Brom in the cup when we were conference would be up there for me! Leicester away too
JJ v Lincoln

Martin Taylor at Selhurst Park, 2001.
Martin Taylor in any one of a hundred games...
That day was amazing. It really felt like we’d made it to the big time. Live on Sky, full house, a ‘proper’ big team.
I can vividly remember the chaos in the Valley when Thommo’s equaliser went in.
Didn’t we have to queue for tickets the Sunday before? I have a vague memory of the queue snaking round the car park and out the main gates.
The BFP headline was "Silkman stages a show". He outshone Noel Ashford, which is the ultimate accolade.
I think Steven Taylor had a game that’s worth a shout, was it his home debut? He just looked a different class.
Kevin Betsy's first half hat-trick at Mansfield- unplayable.
There were a few games when Darren Currie had the game in the palm of his hand- perhaps Hayes away in the FA Cup is one I can remember.

Pretty sure he was injured very shortly after coming on
It looked like someone had inflated him. He barely seemed like he know there was an actual football match going on.

The replay was a great performance too, although in defeat
His display at Grimsby away on a Friday night, we won 1-0. He was everywhere.
Taylor at Palace vs Wimbledon.
Stewart at Wembley
McSporran away at Fulham, I think it was in the League Cup.
Browny owning Robbie Savage in the FA Cup Quarter Final.
Akinde at Brentford.
Mawson at Luton.
There's so many to choose from but these are the ones that stick in the memory for individual performances.

Yes, was the Friday night game. I went up with my wife, even she enjoyed it!
Jesus at Wembley taunting the Preston defence like a Matador circling an exhausted Bull. Then delivering the coup de grace 4th. Brutal yet beautiful.
as ever, @barneysmith, that's the wrong goal!
POTD
Still a jolly good goal though.

Not top 5 but I suspect the Exeter defenders probably still see Marcello Trotta in their nightmares. He ran them ragged.
