The really good thing with last night is that a lot of our moves didn't quite connect, yet we still scored 3.
I know we were playing a weak team down to 10 for 40+ mins, but after two league games of not knowing how and when we were going to score, that's a huge positive.
Their first goal looked quality, not sure I'd want to see their 2nd again, looked a right old mess.
Couldn’t be more in agreement. It’s a fashion that began in the PL and has spread through the divisions. I would rather have a 50-50 long ball from the keeper even if it means losing the ball in the opposition half rather than losing it just outside your own penalty box.
If we play like we did last night we are in for a very entertaining if nail biting season and if we get the same outcome we are in for a very successful season.
I agree and there are also plenty of examples even at PL level where it simply doesn’t work. The better teams are adept at pressing high up the pitch to regain possession.
Someone in the crowd, allegedly ( I didn’t hear ) shouted something along the lines of…..”you couldn’t even push him over properly you f@ggot) “ , after Archibald attempted to push over one of our players.
I didn’t hear that but he gesticulated at angry bald fella in the crowd by making a belly gesture, putting on some imaginary glasses the scratching his balls.
It's supposed to draw the opposition forward to open up space to break into, but as we saw a few times last night, if the opposition is better at pressing than you are at evading the press, it's extremely dangerous. I thought we were slightly better at it than Orient though.
Remember the time someone called Kevin Ellison a c**t and he just did a thumbs up and went 'Cheers mate!'? Bloke in the family stand was thoroughly rattled by it.
Sat at the front of the family stand near the halfway line?
If so, I know the angry bald fella you mean. He regularly shouts abuse at opposition players from the safety of the stand but looks like a heart attack waiting to happen. Not a great example to his kids, in more ways than one.
I can confirm the description of “an angry bald man with glasses”
Didn’t Allsop once have the F@ggot word directed at him? He made a complaint to the club whose fans shouted it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Archibald lodged a complaint with WWFC.
Kevin Ellison now plays part time for City of Liverpool FC paired with a Head of Year 8 teaching job. Imagine him controlling a year group of 13 year olds!
This was my first game this season. Generally impressed, agree with most of the comments regarding best players. Some old failings such as not following up on the box. However, the last few minutes were fraught and I agree that we didn't press high enough, particularly midfield. At times we looked as if we were the team a man down.
Their no 22 seemed to dictate play, starting most of their plays off. Their most productive crosses came from the left so why did we not put someone else there?

They are more effective for ball progression - but my hunch is the lower technical quality at this level largely cancels that out.
This is good from one of our own: https://www.statsperform.com/resource/the-exploration-of-space-through-goal-kicks/

Interesting. I liked the fact Vokesy was demanding players come up and put pressure on them when they were doing it.

They looked like they'd never done it before

He was quite wound up about it.

Really poor if true.

I kinda love Kevin Ellison. Absolute bastard when he's playing against us but he plays it magnificently.

Yup, that’s him.
I fecking hate that. HATE IT.
I wonder if they watch Match of the Day on Saturday and think 'sure, we could that'. YOU CAN'T. IT IS TERRIFYING. DON'T

Ban homophobes for life, please.
Repulsiveness aside what a strange word to use. If you are going to get banned for abusive words at least they should be British.
'Errr...I was merely pointing out that he looked not unlike a bunch of dry sticks useful for bonfires, your Honour.'
Except for the dreadlock pulling incident when he was at Morecambe I quite enjoyed Ellison as pantomine villain

More likely these:
Don't listen to him!!!
That's gone right over my head

Lots of positives but we need to improve still more that said a hundred percentage improvement .
It seems we have one in our midst
