PETER MURPHY

  • @Wendoverman, depends on who it is...

  • Wycombe and Peter apparently agreed 10k to go seperate ways.

Murphy will sign for Morecambe today.

  • @Davieboy : that "Gills Connect" item you posted earlier made me smile, especially the reference to Peter Murphy having "starred" for Wycombe at Wembley - he came on as a sub less than 10 minutes from the end of Extra Time!

Do we take your avatar or synonym as WWFC mouthpiece to communicate with Chairboys fans forum?

  • Take my word please, Iknow a lot more than I should.

  • I really liked Murphy at the beginning of the season. Not sure what happened mabe it was scowan leaving. Anyway all the best to him.

Don't see the reasoning other than Murphy wasn't despondent about playing opportunities as Morecambe is still @ 2 hours drive to Merseyside area, there abouts if travelling (family) was an issue.

  • @WWFC_ are you suggesting that the club actively wanted Peter Murphy to leave while he wanted to stay? If so that's remarkable. I think you'll need to say a little more!

    1. The only player to earn more a week is Hayes, GA and AH didnt like that.
    2. GA think Peter offers very little without Goals.
  • @aloysius . Its mutual. If we don't pay he stays. Gareth wants to try something different.

  • @Ciderk1d Kirkby to Morecambe is only an hour away.

  • 10k would make sense, rumoured to be on 800-1000 a week, 10 weeks before the season starts,we no longer have to pay him during the close season.
Murphy benefits by signing for new club and starts getting paid when the new contract is signed.
    Seems a common sense agreement.

  • Thanks both @WWFC_ and @M3G - very interesting insidery information. Are either of you the mate from Liverpool who told us on the old forum that Murphy would be signing a couple of weeks before he did?

It's a real shame to see him leave, I thought his positional and passing play was excellent and he appears to have a lot of footballing intelligence but, as with Matt Spring before him, it appears GA has a preference for more direct and tenacious midfielders.

  • I agree Chas, considering he had 1 year left on his contract.. 10 weeks wages is fair.

  • he won't get that money at Morecambe they have a smaller budget than us.

Probably pushed the boat out, as Murphy can get you 8-10 goals a season if played in his favourable role. Plus adds steel in the midfield and can take a penalty too.

  • Also very good at getting the odd opposition player sent off

  • I must be honest, if he doesn't score I don't see what he offers. If he has gone its a good decision. If we get Saunders or Nico or both then nobody will give a monkeys toss !!

  • Still nothing from the club so it's just conjecture from people are bored and have too much time on their hands. We are trying to build a team not dismantle one, if you don't have any definate confirmation he's going why post on the subject? blue_w being the worst for posting bollocks!

  • Lol believe me its not. It might not even be announced for a week or more as Peter is on Holiday tomorrow. VIVA LAS VAGAS.

  • I'd like to know blueh_w sources for the 2015/16 playing budgets of Wycombe Wanderers and Morecambe.

  • Spending his £10K in those casinos then?

  • BTW M3G, you really do seem to have inside information my friend. Good to have a reliable source.

  • our budget isn't that low, gareth just used it on less players and got away with it.
with no emergency loans allowed next season he will need to prepare better.

I was the one who's posted on the old forum. Don't know who wwfc is but he's seems to be on the ball abit regarding this.

I'm sure if the club or Peter want the correct details to come then they will if not so be it.

Misinformation. The emergency loan system will be in place next year. Whilst Fifa want to scrap it beyond then I think they have more pressing issues to deal with before that becomes a certainty.

  • I doubt that is going to cause problems, it ended last season and won't be allowed. Sepp Blatter or not.

    Wrong again...

Just as well really - gives us the opportunity to sign Nick Pope or Damian Martinez if Matt Ingram and Alex Lynch both get injured at the same time...

  • Its now official. Signed for Morecambe.
