Players will come and go, that’s the nature of the football beast. What’s not so common is being in such a fantastic position at New Year. We need to finish this window in a stronger position than we started it. We’re about to find out which way it’s going to go, and I don’t mind admitting I’m pooing my pants over it. Lose Morley, Kone, Taylor and Low without getting adequate replacements and we will drift into mid table. Also, MB will start to find any offers from Champ clubs harder to resist. I’m trying to keep it together.
Losing overperforming players is always going to be a challenge to contend with. I prefer this to last season - for some reason the offers were not pouring in this time last year!
Things in our favour vs this time last year are the first class facilities and upward trajectory of the club. We have to hope that those virtues either convince people to stay or convince others in similar positions further down the pyramid to backfill. Those that we do lose by virtue of their being loanees, being subject to strong bidding or their being out of contract in the summer have their equivalents and this Walsall chap is perhaps an example of that.
Don’t disagree with your first comments but would you prefer to play in front of 10, 15, or 20,000 every other week compared to our 5000. If I was a player that would be mighty attractive. It’s what we ‘ as a smaller club’ have to compete with.
Depends. 5000 cheering you or 20,000 booing? Josh might know a thing or two about that. There is a chance that players might want to win something with their mates? (Straw clutching I know)
@davecz naturally we will not be competing against clubs that have 20k+ each weekend, I observed that our facilities and upward trajectory will help us bring players from other clubs in as and when those bigger clubs tempt our own talent away. I feel that we now compare favourably to many clubs that a couple of years ago we didn’t and that if there are a few clubs vying for the same player we might be favourite more often.
The Gasroom is famous for knowing what it likes but also liking what it knows. This applies as much to retaining loanees as bringing back former players.
Yes this years loanees have worked out really well, our scouting, recruitment and attractiveness on a different level to times past.
To that very point. If we brought in quality summer loanees (as a unproven mid table at best club) there is no reason why we can’t apply the same criteria in this window. Indeed, given our enhanced performance first half of the season (points, position, playing style, reputation) there is every reason better clubs will be interested in loaning out even better players to us this time round.

I have heard a rumour that we have agreed terms with a young defender from Walsall. No fee agreed with Walsall as of yet though.
I obviously mix in the wrong circles. @Shev hears more rumours of transfers and recruitment than me and he's not even in the country!
He hides in the bushes outside the Couhig mansion
No, your just not keeping your ear to the ground.
Alternatively, @Shev may have bigger ears than you!

And Gomorrah.
Any idea which defender that is?
Unfortunately not.
Dangerous business, that - I got hit by a firework last week!
Me thinks, this could be one of the most interesting transfer windows the club has ever had. Thankfully only 2 sleeps till it all starts!!!!
Whatever you do, don’t hide in the wheelie bin.
It looks like it might be centre-back Harry Williams.
Sounds like a ‘Wycombe-type’

Harry Williams would be a real good signing.
That's what you get for refusing to put the Christmas lights up unfortunately.

Relax. Lommy has agreed to gold toilets at the training ground and four eagles for the new matchday experience.
Although if we drift into mid table, surely the Bloomfield heat will wear off?

If this happens my bedsheets will need a 60 degree cotton wash with the extended rinse enabled. Not to mention a double dose of Lenore.
What I can’t understand is why no-one wants to pay big money to take Scowen away from us. Can they not see what we all see?
Fortunately Scowen is 32 in March and therefore will not have any resale value.

Tom Cruise is 62. Both he and Josh do their own stunts and are not the tallest in their workplaces. Age is a number, Josh is a God.
I hope Josh isn’t a scientologist

If they stay great, if they don’t so be it.
The future is bright.
Not just that. Is it more appealing earning 3x to 5x your salary in front of those crowds too?
