I don't see why it makes sense to Low to leave now. Suurely it's better financially for him to leave as a free agent in the summer so he can negotiate a big signing on fee for another club.
For us, if we get £200k now (or what ever the figure is) it is not all doom and gloom because, unlike in the old days, we can use that money to sign another defender.
I suspect that Swansea could be very tempting to Low, not least for his international career. He's on the fringes of the Wales squad at the moment, if he can start regularly in the Championship for a Welsh team that should see him push his claim in a way that perhaps playing for Wycombe in League 1 doesn't.
Don't want him to go obviously, but it would very much make sense from Low's viewpoint.
Unless it’s stupid money for Low, I think we should play hard ball and say you can go as a free at the end of the season. Doesn’t look like the character who would down tools and sulk.
In that same article they are looking at Poku from the Posh and they are looking at 3 million and 3 million add on’s would argue that has to be the level for Kone
I love the glint in Bloomfield’s eye when he was reminded about the window opening on NYD. In the previous question he mentioned about the drive coming from within and getting up at 4.30am to ‘provide for my girls’. That’s the measure of the man. He already does so much work but is still excited by the prospect of working harder to make us better in January - even when he already gets up at 4.30am! We’re so lucky to be blessed with such a good bloke as manager.
if we lose low taylor and morley, the powers need to show they are serious about the project and put up some serious cash to replace as getting up will push everything they have talked about ( academy) forward years
absolute tosh rumour, so we spend 500k on a class midfielder with 2 years left on his contract but will spend 750k on a player who will be ooc at the end of the season? haha as if
Even better. Would be daft to lose one of the best, most physical defenders in the league now unless it really is foolarse money.
He'd be a very difficult replacement. Hartridge can fill in the odd game, Taf we don't know what's up with him as he's disappeared even from the bench and Skura feels more a project.
Low and Taylor leaving together would be much worse than losing Morley for me.
Any club that doesn't have to pay a transfer fee for a quality player can then offer a much higher signing on fee. I assume the Agent would have a cut of the signing on fee so surely he would be better off waiting six months?

or we can play Hartridge.
I don’t think we will be doing that however much you love him

An update on the Morley situation

He wouldn’t be free as he’ll be under 24. Compensation due.
A Charlton fan reckons we have had a £750k bid for Lloyd Jones turned down. He’s 29 and out of contract in June.
Low bid rejected according to this - https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/63554

I thought you could do what you want until the rules catch up with you, you get a points deduction and cry about it?
Maybe it was too low

Can't see why we'd offer so much for a 29 year old who will soon be out of contract.

Supply and demand. Jones is a key player for Charlton. Morley doesn’t get into Bolton’s team. Jones is therefore more valuable.
Taf?
Does his agent do better if he did leave now? Certainly in the short term.
The idea of us spending 750k on a 29 year old defender out of contract in June does sound utterly hilarious.

Losing Morley for you, @Malone, would be a disaster.
If we lose Low, Morley, Kone and Taylor the good doctor will have to turn the Gasroom off.
Lose all 4 and start raiding Aldershot for players, Waddock style.
We've certainly run the gamut of emotions this half of the season.
Low expectations, sudden surprise and elation, daring to hope and back to doom and gloom by January.
Happy New Year one and all. (It'll all turn out alright!)

I bet we finish January with a stronger squad than what we have now.
You're not going to win promotion (automatic or play-offs) without at least a few decent players that someone else might want.
Quite agree. I'm looking forward to the transfer window.
