We don't know what the Mehmeti fee was - it just seems to have become 'fact' that he went for peanuts because a few fans assumed that for some reason. I can't remember the events leading up to Forino going on a free - I assume he just rejected a new deal.
Joe Low leaving, especially whilst Taylor is only here on loan, would be fairly disastrous. Not even one I'd considered as January risk. What a crap day.
Kone has just extended his contract , so we should get serious money if he leaves. Low is out of contract , so do we take some money now or let him go for nothing at the end of the season like Forino. Difficult decisions for the owners.
Great post - no coat needed! On a similar note, the shortest month on record that I am aware of was also October, as when the calendar changed to the Gregorian, I believe they jumped forward something like 11 days in October (maybe the 4th to the 15th?)
Kone won't leave in January, that's actually the one I'm most confident of. However I'm certain he'll play Championship football next season, whether we are promoted or not.
In the long term it actually serves our interests to be known as a club which doesn't stand in the way of players progressing individually, painful though it may be at the time. It helps to be able to point to that when trying to recruit new players
We may have gone off thread here @Shev but yes in 1582 there was no 6th - 14th October as the Julian calendar was replaced by the Gregorian. Rioting ensued as folk though their lives had been shortened by nine days!
Although Britain didn’t adopt the new calendar until 1752 by which time we had to loose eleven days to fall in line, but that was in September so perhaps this counts as the shortest month?
The Paris Commune which lasted a couple of months had time enough to institute the French Republican calendar, for the last 18 days of its existence. They made it from 16 Floréal all the way to 3 Prairial in the year LXXIX, which would make Prairial the shortest ever month.
At least it's not £100k or a loan with a view to signing anymore.
We have to be somewhat realistic, I can't imagine Dan Rice setting budgets each May and then just going back to ML twice a year saying the transfer window closes tomorrow, we need the player, can we have another million or two will encourage a long term relationship and we can't have players constantly walking out on frees but if the fees are big and Blooms gets to reinvest a good portion to bring in better and better prospects that could work without being popular.
If no fees are set in clauses I can't see us even replying to bids for Low or Kone that aren't in seven figures, and you only ever get near or past the sort of fees we've seen Exeter and Posh receive in recent years by saying no initially and hoping there is some kind of auction.
Hopefully they both stay as do the loanees and promotion is close enough to be a real target for the owner but I also wonder if any of the long forgotten ground projects get raised again should we get an influx of cash.
I think it will appeal to Kone's ego (don't argue that he doesn't have one - posing in a Christmas cracker crown against Stevenage tells us quite a lot about him) to stay the season and compete to not just become top scorer in League One but perhaps top scorer of all time. Suspect he might demand a few more starts though as part of negotiations.
The only scenario that I think might work is a sale and loan back to Wycombe. Not sure how many Championship sides would be that keen on an arrangement like that though... maybe in the summer though we might see a sale to a Premier League club and a season-long loan back to Championship side Wycombe...
Okay since my last post I've been talking to a colleague who's very well connected into Swansea FC.
The good news is that the Kone thing isn't likely - apparently it's generated by his agent who is looking for *another* new contract for him from Wycombe.
The bad news is Joe Low is definitely happening. My colleague didn't know the exact fee but suggestions had reached him it might be as low as £200k given he's out of contract in the summer.
Low going would almost feel more of a disaster than Kone, who we know or assume would take a big fee. (Assuming we've not massively limited the fee like the Mehmeti contract).
Probably worth taking the risk that keeping Low doesn't cheese him off and helps us get promoted.
People stressed about Morley going, but Low would be a big blow. Low, Kone and Morley going would have us all getting the glass half empty banners out.
Did they sign morley for 250,000 so if true we are offering that for remaining 24 games ? even if lower doesn’t make sense . I’m guessing the financial rules around income and outgoings are preventing him from buying him permanently.
Would be a massive blow If we lost Low...keep him and risk losing him in Summer if we don't go up ...Will the pull of going to Wales be to big for him not to want to push the move through?

It is testament to Joe Low that if someone asked me who I would rather lose between Kone and Low, I would at the very least take a very long pause.

To be pedantic, actually October is the longest month - with the clocks going back it is an hour longer than any of the other 31 day months.
I’ll get me coat.
If Low is OOC then no club is going to sign him in Jan, surely. But as usual, we don't know the contract length.

Morley, Taylor, Kone, Low all leaving and we've not even reached the safety of 50 points yet.
This could all end really badly.😭
"We are Wycombe Wanderers
We have the best half seasons ever!"

(ps we got a million for Mehmeti)

Thought it was nearer 2.5 but you might be right.

If Low does goes, it will naturally be a huge loss but does it soften the blow if we go and get Jones from Charlton?
Please don't mean Nathan!
Brilliant! Hats off to you and @perfidious_albion!

200k !! For that amount of money I'd keep him for the season and let him go in the summer !
Totally agree. Probably in Low’s best interest to stay, become a free agent and negotiate with more clubs than Swansea!!

Wycombe make loan offer for Morley - https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/24822566.bolton-wanderers-turn-wycombe-offer-aaron-morley/

100k
It was somewhere around the £75k -£100k mark

Just buy him ffs
There aren't rules in this division are there? Owners can pile money in, in a way they can't in the championship?
Birmingam were able to ship 15-20m on a striker. Which they can do in this tier but would struggle to do in the championship?
One of the ways to become a billionaire is to spend as little of your money as possible. Lommy's leading by example.
