I always thought that Arsenal and Port Vale were the only 2 teams in the league that are not actual places, just a name. Guessing Forest Green are now the 3rd ?
In Scotland, Partick Thistle haven't played in Partick for 114 years. Quite a shame as Partick is full of pubs and activity, and has the West of Scotland cricket club, which hosted the first ever football International between Scotland and England. So if you wanted to tick off a Jags game, you would have to travel to Maryhill.
When Raith Rovers had a brief triumph in European football a London based commentator exclaimed “they’ll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight” which would be quite an achievement given they are from Kirkcaldy and there is no such place as ‘Raith’!

Ah, misread the question - the town has to actually exist. I think Millwall is still valid from my answer.
West Ham
MK is a real place - unfortunately.
The NFL would really be in trouble if teams had to be named after where they are actually based.
Santa Clara 49ers
New Jersey Giants/Jets
Inglewood Rams
Inglewood Chargers
Paradise Raiders
Arlington Cowboys
Landover Commanders
You guys do at least have the excuse of your urban areas being the size of small countries!
Not an EFL club
The best one of course is Manchester United, they are from Salford.
And Port Vale isn’t a place.

Arsenal is short for Greenwich Arsenal, of course, but that's a different story.
Apparently Forest Green is an area of Nailsworth
*Woolwich!
Woolwich, of course! I knew Greenwich sounded wrong.
Ahh ok
There's one in Surrey and another in Missouri.
I've been trying to Google to find out where Poxford want to build a new ground - Kidlington, so not in Oxford.
Anyway couldn't find an answer. Then I realised they aren't actually called Poxford.
🤣🤣
It will be a sad day when Oxford finally have a fourth stand.
Apparently Bleaterborough play in Peterborough
Headington name changers don't play in Headington.

Have we ever played a game north of the border?

We played friendlies at Dumbarton and Ayr in the 02/03 preseason.
Queen of the South
I will always regret missing the chance to see Richard Harris score at Somerset Park
Is it ? 😮..... You are correct, I had to check though!
The Wikipedia page on the history of MK starts off:- "Long before England existed, this area was at the bottom of a primeval sea".
So nothing much has changed then.
Partick Thistle have the best mascot in world football
Wow - is that a star or an angry California skater boy with spiky hair?
A thistle, allegedly.
I was at both those games, Somerset Park is a great traditional ground and Ayr a fantastic resort. Superb Wetherspoons in Ayr.
@ChasHarps my favourite pub in Ayr is Wee Windaes, run by ex Killie and Ayr midfielder Jim McSherry but will try the Wetherspoons next time
