I think we're largely all in agreement that we should have binned the Bishop pursuit as soon as it was known he was going on that Australia tour. That would only have allowed 3 or 4 days before the first game to get Wycombe-ised.
Instead we could have got someone else in early doors, have a few good weeks of training, and job done.
Oh well, what is done is done, and roll on Saturday which is suddenly a huge game.
We can't take too many more poor results before we're really giving ourselves a hell of a mountain to climb.
If it was so clear that Wycombe were going to sign Bishop, then why would there be a plan B? If you believe you have resolved your problem, you deal with other matters, not try to resolve it again. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen that are beyond your control. I do not believe that our manager has sat on his hands for months and done nothing.
We are not all in agreement that with the information available at the time, we should have binned the Bishop pursuit weeks ago. Indeed we don't even know the information available at the time on which to make that judgment. In hindsight, unless Bishop signs in the next fortnight, that would have been the right thing to do but then hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Not are we in agreement that "the risk of playing Dickenson has backfired". I see no reason to blame this young man for the bad start to the season and see no reason why it would have been better if say the Livingston keeper had been signed a week before season started (and no way of knowing if he would have been available at that time). Sad to see too many people jumping on a young lad's back in search of a scapegoat.
A complete mess as we have got ourselves intertwined with the complete shambles at Man U.
I think someone said earlier in this very long thread that we should have two senior keepers anyway. We certainly did have two senior keepers when we had Allsop and Stockdale.
However you look at this situation, it will have cost us points at the start of this season. How many points this dithering as cost us we are yet to find out.
It is fair for a club of our size to trust that a famous, lavishly endowed Premier League team with an expensively assembled squad and a management team of which great things are expected, to have been able to organise a simple loan contract successfully. I think having Allsopp and Stockdale was a luxury and certainly never a norm for us. We were spoilt.
There was a lot of dithering in the defence Tuesday night, that's for sure.
One of your two what? I thought you could sign as many goalies as you want. Having more than one 'senior ' keeper makes it harder to get emergency loans but our injury record having a second keeper injured wouldn't surprise
I know @Blue_since_1990 but even so we could be forgiven for expecting something at that level to be fairly smooth, while they get on with buffing up Ronaldo's ego and work out why they've paid tens of millions for donkeys.

This has bored on for too long now.

@Malone But is it a must-win game?
It's a tricky situation indeed. But claiming ' leave it until almost five games into the season to sort!' is tabloid nonsense.
Keep calm and carry on brother.
It is if the challenge is staying out of the bottom 4 at the weekend
Fine, that was a touch Daily Mail on my part (just a reminder never to touch the actual Daily Mail).

There's something fishy about this transfer. Someone needs to show some mussell
We should definitely hold out for Bishop. This can't have all been for nothing
Correct. We have been royally shat on by United.

Not necessarily
I hadn't thought about that but will have a look as I'm intrigued now
Cod almighty let's get it done
I hope Bishop wasn't angling for an unrealistic wage
United linked with Asmir Begovic today to be their back-up keeper.
Also Yann Sommer, although he might well go straight in as number 1
Dickinson was Plan B. Dickinson was Plan B. There was a Plan B...Dickinson was Plan B.
You may not like the Plan B. But there was a Plan B.
It was a risk, @davecz I'll grant you that.

How many points has it cost us so far?
How do we afford two senior goalkeepers?
Tyla is now a "professional " (senior GK) under the rules. Doe he now count as one of your two.?

So have you seen any of these games yet?

Having the two was probably a luxury I agree. However that famous, lavishly endowed team is Man Utd and they are in a right mess.

Signing just about to be announced. Presumably new GK
