I can't say I blame people for wanting to stay out of politics in the current climate, although I'd argue it's impossible to be truly apolitical. Do you vote?
You want him to be like the tories who were quite happy to label the ANC as a terrorist organisation under South African apartheid?
edit: This is an interesting read: https://swprs.org/why-israel-created-hamas/ - of course none of this excuses the atrocities perpetrated by or against Isreal, but Piers fucking Morgan bellowing his bigotry and buffoonery does absolutely nothing to get us any closer to ending those atrocities.
Impossible to have any sort of sympathy for this iteration of the Tory party. A sharp spell in opposition will hopefully help them work out what they’re for, while Sir Keir seems like he’ll be a good placeholder in the mean time.
You're not old enough to remember the absurdities of Gerry Adams voice being disguised every time he was on TV, but also worth mentioning that the peace process in Northern Ireland only really got under way when their brutal oppressors stopped calling them terrorists at every opportunity. Language has power.
Sometimes I think political parties forget when they elect and then unquestioningly back the missteps of your Johnsons, Trusses, Corbyns, etc that party members are not the country as a whole.
Truss and Corbyn both had the backing of a large majority of their party...
Farage failed to get elected outside of low turnout EU elections run under PR. Fox lost his deposit. Both think they speak for the nation...but so far the nation seems not to want to vote for them.
As Blair and Brown worked out (and Cameron exploited) we are a conservative country (with a small c) that prefers not to be frightened by too much shouting and scandal if possible.
(Obviously once Beery Nige wins Celebrity, he'll get a seat in carefully chosen Racist Town North or South at the next GE or a place in Strictly Come Dancing in the build up to 2028.)
Hmm, I agree that there needs to be room for grey areas and nuance but there wasn't much grey area in the events of 7th October was there? (unless you go full Piers Corbyn and claim it never happened and they were all Israeli actors)
If that wasn't terrorism then I'm not sure what is
Edit: I've just re-read your post and you acknowledge what I've then replied with, so feel free to ignore. I'll read more carefully in future
No problem @eric_plant - I'm not going to pretend I know a huge amount on the subject, but I do know enough to know that Piers Morgan is never right. Ever.
Sadly killing unarmed people at a pop concert and in their homes, filming it, taking hostages, parading them on video and putting it all on social media IS terrorism and has handed an appalling failing autocratic Israeli government a sudden moment of national unity and carte blanche in the propaganda war and I doubt anyone can stop them until they've laid Gaza flat. No flag waver for the Israeli government but Hamas has done it's own people a great harm and the fact that some are targetting Jews everywhere else for the excesses of a foreign government (which IS racism) just adds to the issues that mean a lot of politicians will turn a blind eye until the dust has settled and then offer aid where it is needed.
I agree Starmer should have called for a ceasefire, but it would have made not a blind bit of difference.
Human beings are a sorry lot.
Edit: with P Morgan being the sorriest of the lot.
Yes, good point, that would be a major change from what we have now.
I think the choice a few years ago if I remember was a coalition of chaos with Labour or..... stability with the chap who called on the biggest crisis and split his party or country have probably ever had and had to resign....but who has just come back (after a spell with his hands in the till) to shore up the rich finance guy nobody voted for.....that had to replace the crazy woman nobody voted for who shafted the economy in less than a month..... who replaced the guy who pushed for the split despite being against it and then resigned because a deal was awful that was partly his job to create who then came back to replace the woman who had to go because she decided on her own what Brexit meant after the vote and couldn't take anyone with her..and needed replacing by him, the guy who made a slight change the wording in a way that wasn't effective and claimed he'd got the job done before ultimately proving to be the jolly but duff and corrupt chancer everyone knew he was all the time.
I try and shy away from the idea they are all corrupt and incompetent and basically the same as it empowers the crap to stay in post and get progressively more awful but it's not easy.
I find it incredible that people aren't out in their millions demanding to know why the UK has the lowest state pension in Europe despite having some of the highest taxes but instead are turning out in force over the Shia-Sunni divide.
On a more optimistic note, a number of Labour frontbenchers accepted a hit to their careers and pockets in order to stand up for a principle they believed in. Whether you agree with their principle or not, that is exactly what we want from our politicians.

That would indeed make me a true Tory

Wait, how did they disguise his voice? That is bizarre.
Due to a loophole in the legislation...his words were spoken by an actor. (That's the truth)

Beat me to it.
Is there anything Coogan can't do?

This Adam Curtis blog post from almost exactly 11 years ago is also well worth reading, https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/entries/7e4d5048-de3d-3f27-9282-6417368c58de - his films Hypernormalisation and The Power of Nightmares also touch on the subject.
What do Labour voters on here expect when Keir forms a government next year?
What do Labour voters on here
Expect when Keir
Forms a government next year?
Morgan does oppose fox hunting and trophy hunting, so there are obviously exceptions that prove the rule.
Does it matter in Bucks? We'll all still have Tory MPs...shuffling to get into Cabinet....or on GB News.
You never know....Tories not turning out next year plus HS2 could see some shock results.
Don't think it would be any surprise at all if Labour took Wycombe.
Anyone know if these boundary changes were finalised? Hazlemere moving from Wycombe to Amersham & Chesham etc?

Ha ha...Tories will probably demand credit for abandoning a financially and environmentally disastrous project...that they started!
Everyone dreams of flicking around Floyd
I assume this factually accurate post was downvoted by the actor.
If this is anything to go by, they would be spending most of their time fighting amongst themselves:

That was a long sentence.

Because people have already been told by someone privately educated in a good suit that it’s already ‘unsustainable’.
