  • aloysius Paris fell out with Plymouth fans when he played for them, out to show them.
    Vital you da man?

  • It's interesting the dynamics within our team.
There was one moment where El Abd (for the 2nd or 3rd time) utterly smashed someone from behind, yet all the players were chuntering away at Sido after.

  • The PASOTI match thread is not as enjoyable as the match itself but it’s a close run thing

  • El Abd was trying to cover gaps left by Sido for a couple of his fouls. He as late because it wasn't really his to go for. Sido was just watching.

Great first half performance today that should have put us out of sight. Managed the game pretty comfortably in horrible conditions in the second. Plymouth were awful and seemed to get really wound up by our players.

  • I did think the Plymouth fans counting was quite sweet; I was willing them to try the alphabet next.

  • Usual mix, the utterly one eyed, to the more realistic, who point out they had 1 shot on target,
Best bit was someone trying to make out some sky sports woman was slating us, only for another to point out her other half is a Plymouth fan!

Our tactics work for us as a "small" club apparently.
How big do they think they are? How many seasons have they spent out of the bottom 2 leagues in 10-20 years?

  • Had a quick look at the official Plymouth twitter too.
Not that bad really. A few mild comments about our style, pitch being narrowed, and physio "Crawling" off, but nowhere near what I thought reading a prevo comment.

  • And, as at least a few of them acknowledged, we could have been out of sight by half time if not for some good saves and lax finishing. Not exactly a joy to watch, but a result that is a joy to behold.

  • Yep, for all their moaning and whinging, Plymouth were poor today. Outplayed for much of the 1st half and frustrated far too easily by our tactics (and very good defending) in the 2nd. But for some fine saves from the keeper they would of been on the end of a much more convincing scoreline.

It was a horrible 2nd half and I don't think either side covered themselves in glory and the conditions were atrocious. Not sure how the ref missed the elbow on JJ, don't know if it was intentional, but it was a nasty incident. I know JJ is no saint and can be a bit of a wind up, but it was clear he was caught very heavily.

  • Plymouth fans seem somewhat blind to their own team's physicality, play acting and outright cheating. Surprised Bayo's shirt survived the game, the amount of pulling it got.

  • They did seem oblivious to JJ being smashed down, our keeper being taken out twice in the last 10mins, and numerous other pushing over incidents.

The most ridiculous being where it was our free kick and their twat stormed one of our lads over thinking it was his.

  • I'm sorry, I can't resist it - I'm regularly checking in on the PASOTI match thread. But this, from SatisfiedInSouthway (which should, I think, be amended to SelfSatisfiedInSouthway) is going to be hard to beat

"Maybe as a fan base we should start boycotting Wycombe away ?
It would be nice if the highlights programme would start to highlight the antics and making a big deal out of it. Not sour grapes , but I genuinely fear for the future if football if this type of thing is allowed to continue."

"Not sour grapes" is the delicious touch that gets this one into the back of the net

  • I do feel for Plymouth - they continue the streak of every team we beat happening to face us on an off day, with bad weather, a crap referee, bribed linesmen, with dirty Wycombe players, and like the rest of them, they only succumbed owing to us being ridiculously lucky.

  • Derek Adams: "They were stopped by an opponent so many times and that’s a frustrating part of football."

You could not make this up.

  • Derek Adams post-match interview with Ross Heaton from BBC Radio Devon. Time-wasting is mentioned just the six times:

RH: Derek, a frustrating result, how do you reflect on today?

DA: It was a difficult afternoon for us. We obviously gave Wycombe the first goal of the game with an own goal from a corner kick.

It flicked off one of our players’ heads into the goal and it allowed them to frustrate us for most of the afternoon.

They (Wycombe) time waste for a majority of it and it became increasingly frustrating, not only for us but for all the supporters.

It started with the goalkeeper (Ryan Allsop) and went on to a number of players on the outfield going down injured.

Then we had two medical staff that decided to take their time going off the pitch, without a player, and go off not in the quickest possible way.

So that summed up the game for us. It was stop-start and it wasn’t a very good spectacle for any football supporter to come and watch.

We didn’t help ourselves because we probably didn’t pass the ball as well as we could do, but we were frustrated for most of the afternoon.

People can turn around and say ‘that’s the way you win a football match’. That is true but the paying supporters were here to watch an entertainment.

I probably doubt the ball was in play for very long this afternoon. I think it was a very short space of time it could have been in play.

I think that the referee (Scott Oldham) should have controlled it earlier on in the game by dealing with the time-wasting.

RH: When opponents do play like that, route one and time-wasting, how difficult is it not to get dragged down by that? How difficult is it to cope with those kind of tactics?

DA: They didn’t cause us much trouble with the route one. They got a goal. Either side didn’t have many opportunities.

They had better opportunities in the first 15 minutes of the game. We had better opportunities in the last period of the game.

We tried. The players gave their all to get the draw or the win, but we have come unstuck with an own goal.

RH: Better after the break, and battling right towards the end, does that give you some encouragement and positives to take from the game, the way that they fought?

DA: I’m not going to take anything away from my players. My players fought, but they were frustrated the whole afternoon by time-wasting.

If that is the beauty of football, then somebody will have to sit down and tell me that’s the way that football should be played.

That’s not the way the beautiful game should be played. It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time that happens.

There was time-wasting for the majority of the afternoon and a lot of antics going on throughout the game.

That stopped the flow of the game and stopped my players being able to produce the kind of play that they can produce.

They were stopped by an opponent so many times and that’s a frustrating part of football.

As I alluded to before, people will tell me about getting three points and winning football matches. I get all that.

But it’s not the way that the beautiful game in England is supposed to be played.

It certainly wasn’t the beautiful game that English football would like to be judged on.

RH: It’s possibly what you would have expected when you saw the teamsheets, and it has been very reminiscent of many Argyle-Wycombe games over the last few years. This followed a similar position. It’s disappointing for you, but it’s not much of a surprise I guess?

DA: I think this is the one of the worst I have seen in football. The amount of time-wasting that was involved.

RH: In terms of the officials, where do you think they could have done more to help? They added a lot of injury time on towards the end. It ended up being eight minutes.

DA: Adding injury time does not matter. You have to stop the incidents happening. Stopping the flow of the game is the biggest problem.

You can’t have the incidents that went on today spoiling a game of football which is supposed to be an entertainment business.

  • That interview is best read with the voice of Donald Trump for Derek Guardiola’s answers.

  • Surprised Adams didn't mention our time wasting.

  • "That stopped the flow of the game and stopped my players being able to produce the kind of play that they can produce."

Ohhh, I see, it was our fault you were shite.

  • Adams and their supporters are clearly delusional. The alleged time wasting presumably includes the 2 incidents when Allsop was fouled and the JJ injury, all the result of Argyle misdemeanours.

  • Plymouth fan here, we were awful first half and not much better 2nd, but no wonder you cant fill a small ground and have the atmosphere of a library, do you really enjoy watching that shite every week, there are more important things than winning and as a spectacle it was truelly awful, your keeper was a disgrace , does he realise how pathetic he looks, you may think its good old Wycombe beating the odds by using their limited resources to maximum effect, but its not its just pathetic cheating and spoiling a Saturday afternoon for everyone including you

  • From Adams' piece, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a game of equal chances, between a Brazil 1970s esque dreamteam, and some Vinnie Jones lite bunch of prison scrappers.

  • Congrats on the 3 points. Ends justify the means and all that.
You might want to reflect on one thing.
When every other manager over the years says you time waste. When all fans say you play act and when opposition players say you're trying to get them booked...then maybe it's because everyone else has a point and you should be embarrassed to defend it. It's really up to you what you accept is being done in the name of your club.
But hey you boys crack on with the sly stuff.

  • tommy you're a clown,it's not as if Plymouth play like Barcelona every week is it? Oh and we pissed off Adams so i'm loving it!

Break in play for an injury. Your keeper takes the ball and when the ref isn't looking kicks it to the corner.
    Embarrassing or not?

The 'kind of play they can produce' has worked well this season hasn't it - almost every week in the bottom 4.

We weren't great after the first 35 mins but a highly enjoyable afternoon watching Adams, the team and the fans all getting so fraught. Off to PESOTI for a good read

  • we were crap but stopping the other team play and minimising the time the ball is in play by play acting is pathetic and cheating and embarrassing for you club, I came to watch a game of football

  • We don't watch that shite every week.. we just save it up for You... do you realise how many 3-2's we've had in the last year... more than you I'd guess ? And it would seem we have scored more goals than you this season... so you lot must be effing dreadful to watch...

Have a good rest of the season with your gobshite of a manager.
