Racism @mooneyman is a belief that all members of a group possess common attributes and then discriminating against them as part of that group. It rejects treating people as individuals.
You are stating that a person is not welcome here because he is a Luton fan and suggested that he must be racist because it’s a “racist town”.
You seem to be showing just the same behaviour as those you claim to dislike.
Our visitor may be a great guy or an absolute knob head or more likely somewhere in between. It is not possible to tell which as a result of the football club he supports or town he lives in.
I feel sorry for the normal people of Luton the town is blighted by some very nasty people on both sides of the communal divide. However no sympathy for anyone that comes onto here and defends the obnoxious DH and can’t admit that their club has a problem with racist behaviour.
I've a good pal who is from Luton,so obviously you can't lumber every Lutonian into one pot.
However, the way you came onto this thread, didn't show you in a great light.
And the "we all have racist thoughts" will go down as one of the all time most dreadful comments.
Seriously mate, I know you personally didn't start it but if you go on a rival's forum and join in a thread titled `How do you watch that every week?' do you really expect a hug and a cup of cocoa?

I think there’s a hint of something insightful there. People do have an unconscious bias and do tend to think less positively about people who are different from themselves without realising it, and certainly without any belief that they are being racist. It’s something we need to be aware of and be able to internally challenge ourselves about. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconscious_bias_training
But it has no relevance to the Hylton situation, which was a case of very much conscious racial abuse directed at a referee.

Some of the comments from Wycombe fans about Luton on this thread are ridiculous. By all means have a go at Tommy Robinson, but lets not act like our town hasn't produced any vile people. Look how many terrorists have come from Wyc for example. The generalising about Luton fans is just stupid.
Character flaws aside Hylton is probably a better footballer than is given credit for but loves his pantomine villain status and plays up to it... thus it makes it hard to like him.
(Obviously a bit of racism doesn't help either.) Whereas Bayo takes all the stick he gets with a bit of humour. I remember Lu'on being 1 - 0 at AP and Diving Danny giving it large to the Beechdean from the bench when he was substituted and then we equalised. Made it sweeter somehow.
@Wendoverman Bayo for all his strength is a fairly mild character on the pitch. I can't really remember ever seeing him squaring up to an opponent. I can only remember Hylton drawing that reaction from him, but i'd left as I think that was post game in last year's match when they won late on.
Hylton is obviously a quality lower league player, but a loathsome on pitch guy.

Amazing how quickly you can get from "you're shit, aah" to "I don't believe that's how you should tarnish a whole town and its people without specific evidence"
There is a popular theme here regarding DDH. Namely that he is quite clearly a loathsome individual and didn't get there nickname "Diving Danny" without cause. Given that he is equally reviled by most fans of clubs in the EFL, I think it can be taken that he has earned the name.
@chris, why do you keep banging on about the ref?
It was never going to be racially abusing the ref. For one thing, how many non white refs have there even been in the last ten years, so how unlikely would it be they'd cross paths.
For another thing, the authority angle added to the racism would probably have given a much longer ban.
And the brawl. Would the players brawl over the ref in the same way as defending a team mate?

If he joined your club and scored 25 goals and got you promoted alongside the beast you would want to have his babies and don't lie because you would as any team would,Championchip football or "oh no diving Danny we all hate him terrible bloke" don't make me laugh.

Actually, I would hand my season ticket back, I detest him that much. A proportion of the goals he has scored are from penalties gained from diving, over 25% of which he has missed, laughably, two of which were against us. The joy of seeing the one away at Oxford, in the last minute at the "Stade de Trois Cotes spill way over the car park still lifts my soul during the bad times!
The shame of it being, he is such a good player, that he doesn't need to "Swan Lake" through a football match. Plain fact is, he does and against every opposition, hence he has gained the notoriety that he deserves.

I would like to be great but you are right Dev probably somewhere in the middle!!! And I applaud your words, and no hard feelings Mooneyman!

was it the referee? I'd always thought it was directed at a couple of Barnet players
Chris, do you have a link to precisely what happened in the Hylton case. I am struggling to find any details.
Details seem sketchy online, the 8 match ban given for comments to a "participant".
However, I'm pretty sure @A_Worboys commented once that he'd heard the full details, so he'll know for sure.

Football fans generalising about opposing towns whilst turning a blind eye to the faults of their own? Never seen it before! It's a shocker!
Quite.
I can't find the details either but for some reason I thought the referee was involved. I may be mistaken!
This suggests it was something that happened after the game https://www.itsroundanditswhite.co.uk/articles/danny-hyltons-eight-match-racism-ban-aldershot-fans-perspective
This BBC article mentions 'a participant' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/18040974

Hylton is an outstanding footballer
@eric_plant outed as Nathan Jones...
I'm not having that
Never been so insulted in all my life
The referee for the game in question was Rob Lewis who is white, so it seems unlikely he would be the victim of racial abuse.
Danny Senda was playing in the game, and Lawrie Sanchez was the Barnet manager.

@Malone because for some unknown reason I had (incorrectly) always thought it was the ref he had abused.
I find that hard to believe
