  • @malone handicapped is a rather old-fashioned term these days, although it does seem to remain relatively common in the States. I believe some people find it offensive, so you might want to consider using an alternative.

thanks for your concern @Chris. I'm sure I can be "forgiven" due to a fair bit of work through my family with those with disabilities over the years (if that is allowed)

I think the point being made is our ‘character’ never racially abused anyone.

I can not stand anything racist but that was years ago and he was extremely sorry about it

I've never been able to find any record of Hylton commenting on his ban for racially abusing opponent, so I'm interested in your claim that he was "extremely sorry".

Can you hand on heart say that you have never had a racist thought no matter how horrible or not about anyone whether they were black,Irish, chinese Polish fat etc etc because if you say you have not I am sorry I do not believe you.Hylton was stupid, naive and wrong but he was 23 at the time, how many 23 year olds do you know that are not a bit llike this.I hate racism as I said in a previous post but to be honest I have got a bit of a stupid thing about large ginger people and tend to avoid them as when I was a kid I got beaten up bad by this boy so does that make me a rasist against ginger fat people

  • Jesus Christ........

  • I'm not sure ginger fat people are a race in fairness.

And my tip to you, is start hanging out with a better class of people, if racism is the norm to you and your peers.

  • ok gingeriest then

  • Anyway this is all getting out of hand now as I said earlier look forward to the next game against you as they are always interesting, good luck.

  • What a thoroughly depressing thread.

  • Thought I'd see what's new today.

Luton fan on defending Hylton by saying she is scared of fat ginger people.

    Think I'll try back tomorrow.

  • @lilyrose We already have a Luton fan on here who posts utter nonsense and he won't take too kindly to you trying to muscle in on his turf. He's fat and ginger too, so watch out.

I've never read such a dreadful apologist argument for racism.

Just because you sometimes think racist thoughts, you assume everyone else is also a secretly internal racist too, and Hylton is just saying what we're all thinking?

    Crawl back under your rock.

I thought he was fat and bald! Perhaps he sometimes wears a ginger wig.

  • Let ye who is not racist, fat or ginger cast the first stone...

  • On a related note, an Accrington-supporting BBC journalist recently reported a section of Luton fans racially abusing a black ASFC player. She also repeated her allegations on twitter and the response from Luton fans was shocking. Obviously the predictable abuse, but also Luton fans accusing her of lying and of making it up as 'sour grapes'. Don't recall seeing many/any responses actually taking her claim seriously. That club clearly has a problem.

The twice I've gone to Luton on the officials coach, the "comments" and general demeanour of some of our "fans" has been very questionable as we've driven through what is obviously a very multi cultural area.

And I'll always remember vividly a Luton steward shoving, that's shoving, one of our "fans" for using racist language for his opinion on the Luton population.
Didn't use the word again after that, so well done that steward.

Luton stewards seem exceptionally tolerant to me. I remember it took them 45mins to remove that Lewis kid, who was clearly on something stronger than tapwater, spending the whole first half aggravating our supporters, accusing others of being pedos, kicking the hoardings, and shouting how he hoped we'd concede, almost taking a slap from one particularly big chap!

Watching some of our teen/early 20s screaming abuse at skinhead middle aged heavily tattooed Luton fans from about 5metres away, in the security of their mob another memory.

The police have done a full investigation and listened to audio of the game and no evidence was found so"clearly" as you say nothing did happened and anyway you were not there as I was and nothing was said that I heard and I can assure you there would have been other fans around who would have put a stop to it.Our club along with other clubs has done lots of work to eradicate this sort of thing. The so called journalist went straight on Twitter to report this before going to the police or stewards as she said she heard chants which no other person in the ground except for a friend of hers who was in another part of the ground as well heard. Also the player who was supposed to be racially abused said he heard nothing. We often get away fans chanting abuse about the nearby community and nothing is ever done about it so when we get a reporter who says something and then has nothing to back it up with you can understand why we get a little peed off with it.

  • You also have a section of fans who think that Tommy Robinson chants are appropriate...

  • "The so called journalist went straight on Twitter to report this before going to the police or stewards"

that simply isn't true. She reported it to stewards and police on the night. Her tweet literally says that - are you stupid?

"Disgusting scenes here at Kenilworth Road with monkey chants aimed at Accrington Stanley’s Michael Ihiekwe from Luton fans next to the away end - I heard it, other fans heard it, stewards heard it and was reported to the police."

  • that quote is the tweet that she made by the way

  • It's a sad state of affairs when fans cannot chant the name of a prominent racist right-wing agitator after their club has asked them not to without people assuming they are right-wing racists.

As I said police have made a full investigation and nothing was found(and she has not apologised) and the player did not hear anything and he was a bit closer to the fans than you were and that is because nothing was said.Just love the way the world reports things now trial by Twitter which aggrevates everything before it goes through the proper authoritiesI hope we take this further and report her.

I only came on your forum to have a bit of banter, nothing rude and it has turned into this!

  • Aren't you just a little concerned that the allegations might be true? It doesn't seem far fetched.

Ah, the old 'if a racist tree falls in the woods and only a few people hear it' defence.

  • @lilyrose honestly, I think coming onto another team's forum to 'banter' about their performance and players is never going to end well.

The police were there(actually by the home fans) and they have carried out a full investigation and not found anything,i would assume they spoke to officers in this investigation and guess what....nothing,and please don't call me stupid.
