We must sign Dave Tarpey now!

  • He wouldn't have to relocate if he chose the greener grass of Adams Park. Bit short for a central defender though.

  • Quality scheduling from the fixture computer there.

Send one of the smallest teams in the division, who are clearly still part timers with jobs, to the furthest possible location on a Tuesday night!

  • If what Coventry were offering wasn't enough to make it worth quitting his day job and playing part time, then that doesn't bode well for any hopes we have of getting him.

  • The way it's going we could be playing against him next season anyway

  • @bookertease Get a grip for the love of god.

  • @bill_stickers I did mean they may get promotion!

  • Could he sign for us on a part time basis, or is that against FL rules ?

  • Quite a few of our players seem to be on a part-time basis...then we send them out on loan.

  • @Stewie63 . Interesting question, but surely there's no rule that players have to be full time, even in the league?
It's just that it'd be an exceptional ask to have someone able to cut it, while pishing about doing another job!

  • yes we have 24 full time players and 1 part time like any club would ever do that !!

  • keep your shirt on richie...it was a simple question

  • You've got to remember that Richie is used to the higher order critical thinking of the club shop rather than the mindless spouting of the lower orders. If he sometimes forgets himself and loses patience with our lack of reason, we should remind ourselves that we are lucky to have him here at all and allow for the intemperate outbursts that are common to many great minds.

  • True @HCblue and there's been a slight chill in the air the last couple of days and when you've got no vest bound to make you a bit testy...

  • There has been so much talk about this player now surely someone from the club should put all this to bed. Or give us a reason why we haven't signed this very good striker. When will they ever listen to us!!!!! Supporter owned football club. Yea right

Supporter owned. Not supporter run. Stick yourself up for election next time, running on a platform of daily surveys of the membership regarding who we should sign.

  • Doubt our hoof it style would suit Tarpey. He is also probably rather to old to be Wycomised

  • That age comment is sort of massively not true tho is it, bearing in mind we love a veteran attacker. Tarpey's not even 30. We'll be after him in 4-5 years.

  • "...sort of massively.." Malone?
Tarpey not in the Magpie's squad today. Age caught up with him or boss not prepared to give him the morning off?

  • He's injured took a knock in their last game.

  • Yes Micra. It's a way of stressing even more disagreement with the originator.

What we need is not a lower league goalscorer, but a lower league phenomenal defender

  • If you say so.

  • Don't think much of ifollow .

  • Wrong thread @bluejay.

  • I am kind of surprised Barnet got him!

  • Really.... Barnet !?!?.... what about all that bullshit he didn't want to turn pro ??.... yet another local player we havnt turned to... do we have a scouting system outside of London ?

  • To be fair Tarpey is too young for our frontline, we'll get him in about five years time

  • Barnet must be paying him a decent salary then as his issue has always been he could earn more staying semi pro and carry on working.

  • @HolmerBlue : he didn't say he didn't want to go full time. He said he turned Coventry down because the numbers didn't work but that he did still dream of playing in the League.

Barnet seems a good fit for him. I think Rossi Eames will probably know him: he's a Bucks boy, I believe.

  • Let's hope this proves to be Shouthwellesque not Vardeyesque
