@StrongestTeam As they've just accepted a £15 million bid for Ibe, they might have trouble persuading anyone that they were suddenly valuing him at £2 mill.
Hopefully that would give us grounds to appeal to whoever passes judgement on these things.
Don't see why there would be a delay. Unless there is a specific clause in our contract with Liverpool delaying their payment to us, I would have thought the full amount would be payable to us within 30 days or so, regardless of any credit Liverpool give Bournemouth. I believe Hayes under his contract with us is entitled to his loans being repaid from Ibe money so you would have thought he would be paid within 30 days after that.
Are you convinced that the terms of the contract agreed between us and Liverpool would definitely be as favourable to us as that? For me it's a possibility that if Liverpool are paid in installments then we will be too. I don't know either way.
Assuming we haven't done anything silly with the sell-on fee, this is surely the biggest off-field development for the club since we reverted to trust ownership, however the fee is paid.
I'd like to think this money will not only go some way to clearing our existing debts, but also to reintroducing the youth system that has churned out the talent that's kept the club afloat these last few years.
Convinced no, chris and as AG says pure speculation, but I would suspect it is how I have drafted. If BOH agree to pay LPL £15m with £10m payable now and £5m in 12 months time say, then that contract creates a liability to BOH who legally owe LPL money. It is LPL problem whether they get paid or not. Legally it is unusual for a third party's rights be affected by when party A actually pays party B, the exchange of contracts is the defining moment. So for example it would be surprising if our right to our share of the £5m above was affected if BOH went bankrupt and never paid Liverpool.
But all depends on the wording of the contract that none of us have seen. So it is indeed all speculation. My money would be on every penny of the £2m or so being in our bank by the end of August and Hayes share paid at the same time (always assuming that Howard doesn't do a Woodward and give our rights away this evening).
And if we do get the money - even if we only get a significant chunk of it upfront - I hope people will acknowledge the excellent bit of business done by Steve Hayes rather than glossing over his role. If you want to dish out the criticism, it's only right it's measured with praise when deserved.
The vast majority of transfers particularly those of promising youngsters contain a sell on fee, very often higher than the reported 15% for Ibe. I fail to see how this can be construed as "excellent" business. All he did was standard procedure within the football industry.
@Chris said: Fairly pointless speculating really would be a good tag line for the Gasroom.
Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't mean it to sound as po-faced as it read. I just meant it's a shame we won't know for sure but I understand why the club wouldn't want to advertise any windfall.
Would be fantastic if we could get the youth set up going again.
@eric_plant Absolutely agree! How many times do we have to keep going over this?
It was a decision made by the whole of the Trust Board (possibly on a majority vote, etc) and NOT by just one person.
Amazing how many people (like DevC) manage to be so wise after the event - and yet never bother to push themselves forward to volunteer to do anything positive for our club.
If it is made public hat we are suddenly "rich"...well comparatively...that would knock any really good transfer deals on the head surely? So, best keep it under wraps for now anyway.
@Cyclops , Dev has the highest post count to games attended ratio ever seen on the gasroom 1 or 2, so it's unsurprising he contributes jack volunteering wise!
I do wonder why on earth he's going on about Bournemouth going bankrupt on a previous page though! It's not 15 years ago, it's the ridiculous money Premier league era!
One other thing, I think people need to calm down all this talk of paying all debt off, re-opening the youth system etc..
Although no one knows exact figures bar a few board members, it seems massively unlikely even the highest payment will even totally clear the debt. Let alone have 300k extra a year for the youth system.
And even if we do get the youth system back up, we have the massive problem that contributed to it's demise. Namely, that the next Ibe we stumble across can be lifted from us for a measly amount, 50k I think..
So you have to hope for a good crop, but not including players too special that they'll be lifted for next to nothing, having barely played for you

OK but discussions about facts which no one knows do become pointless when they go on and on. However i suppose they fill a quiet time.

Didn't we wangle something to minimise what we had to pay through Torres's sell on clause when he and Martin both went to Peterborough?
Ibe has cleared out his locker today and his move should be finalised this week.
He has agreed terms with Bournemouth
The ever reputable source of the Daily Mail claims we have 2.25 mil coming our way...

The Daily Mail claims there's 2.25 mil coming our way without mentioning asylum seekers, strange days indeed.
Anything on house prices?
Or champagne socialists?
Must be nearly time for a group of girls to get their exam results.
Have they done a story on how getting exam results gives you cancer yet?
Perhaps we've already committed all the cash on Akinfenwa's wages.
Boom boom boom...let me hear you say Bayo...
Something about getting a beach ready body eating lard
Passed medical and formally signing for Bournemouth tomorrow. I wonder how quickly we (or Sharkey) will get part of the sell on fee.

Fairly pointless speculating really as you can guarantee neither club will confirm it. I guess it'll show up in the accounts at some point.
Either way, I'm sure it's good news.

It would have been shockingly bad business not to include a sell-on fee for such a young, promising player.
It's a bit like congratulating a builder for bothering to lay foundations before constructing a house.

Pathetic continued digs at Don Woodward from a consistent, weaselly cheerleader for Steve Hayes

@aloysius Now come on. Anyone would have realised this deal had to have sell on's. He was probably the most sort after kid in the country at the time.
