  • I think the penalty puts to bed the argument that someone on here was making that if we know he is going back to Bolton we shouldn’t play him as he might not be trying his best.

  • One of the more insane opinions I've seen on this site.

  • Perhaps the mystery of Nathan Bishop will be solved this month too.

  • Feels like a very strange window where we have players who we’d desperately like to keep (Morley, Kone, Low, Taylor), and at the same time we have players who probably ought to leave to find game time (Taf, Wheeler, Bishop, Butcher etc). Could be a very busy month.

  • Is anyone also worried that Bolton will sack Evatt and put in an approach from Bloomfield?

Their boardroom has a family tie to Wycombe don't forget.

Not saying that MB would necessarily accept, but they don't seem to be the easiest to negotiate with at the moment, and Evatt's job is surely under fire now.

  • Of all the January scenarios, that's one I wouldn't in the slightest worry about!

  • Not in the slightest. I couldn't see any reason whatsoever why Blooms would be interested in that job.

Seems the standard valuation for Morley is £500,000 (were did that come from?) but what if Bolton want £700,000 for Morley...just because they know we can now 'afford it'. Do we pay over the odds? What if we miss out on automatics on goal difference after Morley scores in return Wanderers fixture, and then again in playoff finals to beat us at Wembley...would the 'extra' £200,000 still be worth not paying...or does it set an awful precedent for other future negotiations?

  • So many hypotheticals it's hard to follow.

But Morley wouldn't be good value at £700k, that would be the only thing to consider. If, if ,if ...

It isn't possible to time travel so retrospectivly wondering if we should have paid £X wouldn't be productive whatever might happen in the future.

  • Bolton have nothing to play for this season, Morley doesn’t want to play for them and Morley can’t play for another club this season. Puts us in a very strong negotiation position. Foolish from Bolton if they don’t cash in by extending the loan, thus increasing his transfer value for the summer window.

  • More money

    Larger budget

    Bigger club

Again, not saying it will happen, but have it in the back of my mind.

  • Morley wouldn't be good value at 700k?! I'd say that's a bit of a steal.

  • Or, what if Morley scores winning goals for Bolton against Wrexham and Huddersfield, which at the end of the season leaves us in second place.

They're 5 points off the playoffs with 2 games in hand. They've plenty to aim for, it's only Jan 1!

  • Agreed. I suspect they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

  • I'll hold my hand up to that! Very glad he did play today! Although in fairness, my original comment was really in reference to Bolton recalling Morley and ourselves having no means or interest in bringing him back. The fact that Morley in my opinion clearly would like to stay and we've already made moves to keep him longer rather negates that.

I think what I wanted us to avoid was a situation similar to what we had with Eze who rather went off the boil towards the end of his loan spell when it became clear that QPR wanted him back and he would be featuring in their plans. Not really the same scenario all round with Morley though.

  • I fully believe that Bolton will be asking around the 700 to 750k range to be honest. Us offering 100k to have him for just the rest of the season strengthens my view on this.

I'm mildly hopeful that a deal will be thrashed out before the end of Jan.

Totally hypothetical and 100% guess work of course but I think we may have tried a punt at around 400/450k

I think its increasingly obvious that we want him.... he wants to stay.... and Bolton probably want to sell him as it will free up cash for whoever they have in their sights. Its going to be tough for Morely to play now for Bolton after them letting him leave on loan and obviously not being in favour. If the manager there is bloody minded he will just use him to warm the bench. It seems its best for all parties to somehow thrash out a deal.

If we get him for 600k give or take I think he would be worth it all day long.

We have got this far now. Top of the league half way through. We surely have to give it a right good go now. Being in the championship early doors in the club's new ownership is surely nothing but a massive plus point from every single view point.

  • If Lommy is willing to spend the money and it does not have any restrictions, I'll generously say I (cough cough Lommy) would spend any amount on Morley!

  • HE SAID IF!!!!!

He's coming home, he's coming, Morley's coming home.....

  • Perfect post from him.

Clear enough he'd like to come back, but he can't go too strong with that in case decisions above his head don't allow it, and he has to absorb Bolton fans' ire for half a season!

  • Looks like we have his family onside whatever happens. Lets just hope his Dad acts as his agent 🤞

  • I’ve seen a very very small minority of Bolton fans turn on him this evening, for ‘kissing’ our badge. Of the comments I’ve seen, the majority just seem to want Bolton to do the right thing for the player and try and agree a deal.

  • Being promoted will be nice. It will not be down to one player staying or going though.

  • Guessing its not the Paul Morley

It’s been a real pleasure watching Aaron Morley and I’m so glad I got to watch him play in a Wycombe Wanderers shirt. The lad is a real gem.

  • I remember being 24, loving life, new job, a year into a mortgage and thinking about my future.

Meeting new people and trying new things. thanking people for believing in me and inspiring me to be bold and take on new challenges. Mixing with people a lot older than me, as equals for the first time in my life.

I travelled a lot with work around that time and grew up quickly.

Football is a slightly different industry but for me Aaron has just experienced a different place as part of work and found a load of new friends and aquaintances. He’s loved it, as most 24 year olds would. He is just saying thank you.

He might go back and kick on or he might go back and pine for the assignment he’s just completed.

Whatever happens next, he’s 24 with his whole life ahead of him and I know he will always treasure his time here as we are such a special club with an amazin family environment. Wishing you all the best for the future Aaron and hopefully we see you in the light and dark blue again!

  • There is an old saying "don't fall in love with a loan player". Some on here have not just crossed that line, but bought a ring, enjoyed a 60 year marriage, and are now sitting in matching rocking chairs on the front porch watching the sunset with Aaron Morley!

  • If Joe Low is sold would that then free up the dosh to sign Aron Morley. Ps I don’t want Low to go either.
