It used to be anyone who needs a provable date / time stamp on official documents, now it's just anyone who doesn't know how to use docusign. I think the football bodies have come away from fax now.
That raises another question I have always wondered. Where to loan players actually train everyday?
I’m sure I have heard that younger loanees (say your Potts of last year) spend time at there parent club as well as the loan club during the week training.
Is that the same for older players as well, or would they move down in entirely for that loan spell? Perhaps leaving family kids etc settled at work and school?
For some reason, I’ve always assumed they spent at least one day training with there parent team and the rest at the loan club which is one of the reasons loaned players don’t/can’t play against there parent club for fear of tactics being shared?
Does this put a different slant on the Morley saga if he still talks and sees Evatt regularly every week.
I’m I just musing into the wind on things that don’t matter one jot.
It depends on each individual agreement but I think most loan players spend 100% of their time at club they are on loan to. Young players may occasionally be treated slightly differently.
Sounds right, where a club like West Ham have a prospect like Potts they really are sending them out to improve and develope in real mens competitive football and will take great interest in their progress and look to enhance and supplement the training we could offer as well as keeping up their education and welfare programmes. It's part of a wide programme covering many kids that is still probably cheaper for them over a year than buying one fully developed signing for the first team.
If you take a 30+ defender on loan its generally because the owning club doesn't want them anymore and wants their wages covered or for them to do well and raise some interest to go permanently. They won't give a toss about how training is going.
Morely is somewhere in between probably as he was a little out of form and perhaps not fitting a system but still considered to be a very good player who could come back refreshed and ready to go. So probably being scouted and checked in on but unlikely to pop back up north for training under a manager who he doesn't seem to get on with.
All guesswork of course but that's kind of what we are here for as above @Erroll_Sims
@glasshalfempty lets hope that article is correct...at least in terms of him being allowed to turn out for us tomorrow, it then gives us a couple of days to do "the deal"
If Aaron Morley scores against us at Wembley, I would roll my eyes unless he did anything but celebrate like a madman.
In fact, I think players should get yellow cards for refusing to celebrate. It is such a sanctimonious downer for the fans of the actual club paying said player's wages.
Sounds a bit like an ultimatum to up the bid, I can't believe they are letting us keep him for one last game out of choice and kindness, clubs tend to crap themselves over potential injuries in those scenarios. I'm taking it as a positive. Can even see him going back for a week or two and coming back.
Don’t think it makes any difference. Bolton can recall him and he can play tomorrow if they want. It’s just the other way. You can’t sign players in time to play tomorrow.
Bolton fans will have to wait a few more days for Aaron Morley, however, with the club confirming that recall rules mean the paperwork to bring him back from Wycombe can only be submitted at the start of the window.
Ian Evatt confirmed: “Aaron will be coming back but we have to wait until January 1 to call him back so he won’t be available for tomorrow. He will be available for Saturday at Exeter City.”
Coincidentally, Morley will be able to play a final game for Wycombe against Exeter on New Year’s Day before re-joining his Bolton team-mates.
Wycombe’s offer to take him back on loan with an up-front payment of more than £100,000 has been turned down, with Wanderers indicating they are only considering a permanent move at this point.
Another thing that’s moved the dial for IE today is that we’ve had news that Kyle Dempsey has had a relapse in his injury comeback and will now be out for the season. With Sheehan also out it leaves us with only Matete and Thomason in midfield so it’s likely Morley will go straight back into the squad if you don’t confirm a permanent move. Evatt’s trying to sign another midfielder but that may take time and would probably be more defensive than in Morley’s place so any thoughts he won’t get game time back at the Reebok may be wide of the mark?
Ian Evatt gets sacked after the next game (won't happen, but I don't like him).
Morley helps Bolton win the playoffs, scoring the winner at Wembley and unveiling a t-shirt that says 'Wanderers Nation' with a swan shaking hands with a...trotter?

@StrongestTeam happy to be corrected

probably yes on the last point.

It seems we have been given a little New Year’s Day gift - Aaron Morley can play tomorrow

Excellent news, presumably this is because the loan expires at 11.59pm on the 1st Jan?
Loved the sound of that, until also reading that Bolton would be recalling him for their game on Saturday
Apparently there is a 24 hour notice on a recall

drat! Hopefully, he'll go into the record books as scoring two hat tricks against the same team within three days.

He'll be ours for good soon
I'm sure you are correct, but they could have served that recall notice last week to come into effect on 1st Jan.
Maybe Bolton hope Morley playing against Exeter tomorrow somehow benefits them for their game on Saturday?
I think it’s because January 1 is a bank holiday.
It will be correct. Marc Iles is never wrong.
Or their fax machine is out of order!!

The only reason Morley hasn’t been recalled is because talks on his permanent signing are at such an advanced stage.
This article suggests otherwise

Would suggest that the rule has changed from last year then.
Are we going to start a new thread when he actually signs for us?
A little more here from Marc Iles…

100k sounds quite high for a mere loan fee doesn't it!?
Bolton must be asking a pretty high wodge, as you wouldn't offer 100k for a loan if the fee was say 300-400k would you?
They can’t be that bothered about him, they couldn’t even spell his name correctly.
It will actually be a physical commemorative scroll, stained with tears of joy.

If we lose Morley, here is the ideal scenario:
