I was staying in a travelodge just off the motorway near Crewe for the City midweek away.
Could not believe it when I saw they'd closed the junction down.
10-15mins back down to Stoke, same back up, hotel room for about midnight i think that one!
United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle aways would be dream draws. Big clubs I don't think we've played away, and only having met Liverpool in the FA cup at Villa Park.
Villa and Tottenham would still be a big draw, but feels like we've seen that done that recently.
I think it’s very harsh to judge players performance today - all the back 4 haven’t had many minutes in recent weeks. Same with the mid field in Bakinson and Butcher in particular. Wheels also hasn’t had many minutes and hanlan and Bez have both come back from injury recently.
Put that all together with a slow looking average pitch and well motivated opposition it’s not surprising we weren't at our best but we still only limited them one one chance they should have scored with and others that were a result of our own mistakes and rustiness.
0-2 away from home will always be a great result whatever the opposition
I thought overall it was a very average performance from the starting XI for all the reasons others have stated.
I feel George looked decent if a little rusty & understandably unsure of those in front of him; Grimmer defensively was decent, but his passing was poor by his standards; Skura was very solid & assured & again gave a really good account of himself; Taf was ok & generally reads the game well but his lack of pace is even more evident especially comapred to Low/Taylor/Skura who are all ahead of him; Hartridge was like Grimmer decent defensively but his passing was sloppy plus he was playing in his less preferred position. Barkinson was solid if a little one paced, some good passing & helped sheild the back 4; Butcher looked very off the pace & a couple of times lookedlike he was struggling after covering back; the starting front 3 all looked hungry and put in decent shifts but for reasons I couldn't quite fathom were all inclined to play down the left.
As others have said I would certainly trust all of them to come off the bench; where more defensively solid full backs are required I do think we could do a lot worse than Grimmer or Skura at right back & Hartridge or Leahy at left back.
To me Grimmer feels 5050 with Pattenden to start, he just currently lost the start in the main games due to his knock and Pattenden coming in strongly.
Hartridge feels very much an occasional rotation option for Harvie. But much prefer him there than centrally.
Max Kretzschmar on leaving us in the bottom of the football league goes to Woking, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Woking, Wealdstone. It’s the very definition of a non league journeyman part timer!
Four clubs in 8 years is pretty standard for that level, and he made over 100 appearances for Woking. A journeyman is someone like Steve Claridge or Jefferson Louis.
Hopefully they were just quoting Blooms, as he used that same phrase of "some time", but in a markedly negative way. With injuries I feel like there has to be some kind of severity multiplier formula applied to comments of approximately 4.216.
"He should be back for the next game" x 4.216 = "He will be out for a month"
"He is back on the grass" x 4.216 = "He is in a cast"
"He will be out for some time" x 4.216 = "He has done his ACL"
"Unfortunately he is out for quite a while" x 4.216 = "He has robbed a bank and fled to Brazil with the ill-gotten gains"
No-one thought Vokes would back any time soon, then suddenly there was almost the suggestion he'd be in contention. Then wasn't!
Other seasons we've relied on Vokes so heavily he's clearly been patched up miles off being fit. At least now we can get him beyond 100% and really manage his minutes. Then we'll hopefully see the early season Vokes that looked effective again.
Thought we played pretty well - conference side away from home in the FA cup is never a walk in the park. Thought Skura and Taff were our two best players funnily enough. Apart from Taff’s scare with that pass at the end he looked good. Kone coming on sealed the deal hopefully we keep him past January. Bring on a big boy in the next round!
Really positive day for us. To make 11 changes and still come out reasonably comfortable winners says a lot for our squad. It was never going to be a stroll with so much rotation.
I thought the players who came in all did OK without particularly excelling. Bakinson probably the pick of the bunch today. Personally I thought Hartridge was pretty decent. Very composed in possession, even if a little casual on a couple of occasions. Don't really understand the criticism.

Apologies, totally mixed you up with Frequent stander. Whoops.
"non-league journeymen part-timers"
The only player in that team who might even vaguely be described as a journeyman is Mariappa - and he's played in two FA Cup finals.
Smh
I bet they are all postmen in their day jobs.

They're a hybrid club anyway. The striker who missed the sitter is full-time (on loan from Oldham), possibly others.
Wasn’t it someone saying we needed to sign a LB and RB?
Frequent said we'd been weak in both in recent years,.

Human League told to go away and try again....
Oh right 👍

This is correct as confirmed by one of their directors.
@floyd awaiting the 3rd round draw (if we are in it) is one of the few times I still get that childlike butterfly feeling in my tummy.
This was very close:

Don't argue this with old timers, they reckon a journeyman isn't about the journeys they've taken but being a non top level talent.
Heard some fans chatting saying Josh’s injury was gonna keep him out for some time. Anyone know anything? Didn’t see him around today.
We'll get a boring 3rd round draw but an amazing 4th round draw.
Anyone spot the raider today?

Vokes is a bit like Comanche......Iconic but not needed on the pitch
Just got home, bit of a trek that.
100% agree. I thought the pitch didn’t suit our passing game and we were a little slow in possession but…job done and into the hat for the 3rd round.

Is there any way to watch the full game again?
