Blyth Spartans had to postpone today’s fixture as well as their next game on Tuesday, due to resignations meaning they cannot satisfy the legal requirements to host the matches.
Their chairman has already stated he wants out and they are in real danger of going bust.
That has to be offside I think. It's creating an incentive for teams to put players in an offside position if they know that all they need to do is move away a fraction of a second before the shot is struck.
In other news...I was less surprised that Man U have stopped paying Sir Arex £2 million to be a club ambassador than I am that Man U were actually paying Sir Arex £2 Million to be club ambassador.
I think it's terrible. The only jeopardy after 8 games are played is which 12 minnows will be flushed, while still paying them more money to keep their smaller leagues imbalanced with the same winner ever year.
Besides that, there could be an extra round, which means more money any way, so it's a win-win for the bigger clubs.
To get to the final, a club could play as many as 17 matches, which is half a PL season, more or less. The Super League is basically here.
But I agree - when Sir Matt Bloomfield is guiding the team to the cup and Kone is lifting the trophy in a few years, I'll feel differently right along with you!
The thought of European football at Shrewsbury is slightly bizarre. Are they playing all their home games there? Less than two hours from here, would be a fun evening
I forgot Larne are playing at Windsor Park. I can hear the fans but not see any in the three stands in view. Edit - not looking properly, now I see them. 2000 Shamrock fans.
”To the individual who cowardly dropped into Elijah’s DMs: We know who you are and you know who you are. You’re not a faceless account, one which we have sadly become accustomed to reporting in recent years.
But as if you have the balls to come to Kenilworth Road and say it to his face. We dare you. If you do, you’ll be faced with everyone at Luton Town Football Club, standing side-by-side with Elijah”
Hats off to the hatters I say. I’d hope every club would stand side by side with any player subject to racist abuse.
The cupset is on, really impressed with Threave, especially left winger Ross Irving.
Edit - the piece they've just shown on Charlie Watson is remarkable, 19 years old and has stage four cancer. What a brave lad and he's having a great game.
What an entertaining game. 90+6 winner for Stranny, and their equaliser was a bit special from 30 yards. Charlie Watson lost his head in a big flare up on 90 minutes and was sent off.
Great performance by Threave, ran out of steam at the end. I've watched quite a bit of tier 9 football in England and it was not as good as what Threave served up. Invite Ross Irving down for a trial.

Yep, I thought Pert Steve had succumbed to the rigours of too many nights out in local parks in bad weather for a moment.
(Watching football I should clarify!)

I wish Stocko the best of luck.

5,716 saw York City beat bottom club Ebbsfleet 4-0 on Saturday...
L1 table has an interesting quirk. Peterborough and Stevenage are 12th and 13th. Only separated by 1 point. Each have a goal difference of 0.
Stevenage - 9 scored and 9 conceded. Peterborough -25 scored and 25 conceded.
Another quirk; Wycombe Wanderers, in third have conceded one more goal than Leyton Orient, in twentieth.
It can't have happened very often that we're the 2nd highest scorers in the division this many games into the season.
Peterborough always seem to be great entertainment though. 50 goals in their 13 games so far.
We need 11 in our next 2 games to match that.
The 36 team Champions League table.
-Brilliant?
-Shite?
-Ask me in 2028 when we're in it.

A couple of interesting Conference League games tonight, on Discovery+, TNT Sports.
Larne v Shamrock Rovers - 17:45. Should be a cracking atmosphere. Rovers are near the end of their league season and challenging for the title.
TNS v FC Astana - 20:00, at Shrewsbury Town FC.
TNS gave a great performance last time out at Fiorentina. A chance to see how good a top Kazakhstan team is.
The thought of European football at Shrewsbury is slightly bizarre. Are they playing all their home games there? Less than two hours from here, would be a fun evening
All three will be played there, Pana in December looks attractive.

Apologies if posted already. But this is some statement by Luton after another case of racism at one of their games:

A villainous version of Chris McCausland.
The real thing.
Yes I know the Reverend is no longer at Luton.
Tonight's alternative viewing is Threave Rovers v Stranraer, Scottish FA Cup Second Round.
A Dumfries & Galloway derby, in the town of Castle Douglas. On BBC Scotland, BBC Sport, iPlayer at 19:45.
Rovers are are sixth in the West of Scotland League Division 3, Stranraer are one point from the bottom of SPFL 2, tier 9 v tier 4.
Sound unmissable, Steve.
For those that complain about the leaking FA roof, try supporting Threave!
Will they be closing a stand for the Cup?
Liking the cut of the pitch, but couldn't you get a better seat than half way up the floodlight pole.

2-0 Threave, great goal by Irving!
oh oh
Oh dear.....
FT Threave 2-3 Stranraer.

That’s really sad to hear but how remarkable that he’s still able play football - at a good level, too.
Not just us who are hoping for a new access road then https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/oct/27/tiny-mousehole-afc-rises-up-football-leagues-but-potholes-are-a-problem
I wonder how much it would cost us to become their shirt sponsor.
